8 Spices: Thailand Dishes Just The Way You Like It

Wazzup Pilipinas !

When doing some windows shopping, bargain hunting or simply looking for a much needed accessory for our gadgets in any of the famous malls in Metro Manila, we would normally take a break by eating at one of the many fast food or fancy restaurants in and out of the mall.

I recently discovered a restaurant that brought back memories of my stay in Bangkok, Thailand. It offers authentic Thai cuisines that has the real spicy flavors and taste that's truly Thai.

Situated at the Veranda of Robinsons Galleria in Pasig, the 8 Spices restaurant is a wonderful choice that should take us way from the usual Chinese or American dishes we would normally encounter.

The ambiance was quite exquisite and elegant. The lighting  added a more sensual mood.

What I noticed was the sort of  number 8 shape image on the ceiling.  I believed  it was an intended interior design  for additional branding and identity of the place.

The last time I went to Thailand on both a business and leisure trip, I got to try out what the Thai's had to offer with regards to authentic spicy meals. Though there are many other restaurants out there in Thailand that offer other cuisines from all over the world, I make it a point to eat Thai delicacies so that I could uniquely feel that I am in their country. When in Thailand, do what the Thais do.

We got to meet both the owner and a real Thai chef. Though both were too shy to face the camera, the food that they served were extremely up to par with many other fine-dining restaurants we visited.

Their food will really "spice" up your life!

Some of my colleagues adore the spicy foods that 8 Spices dished out which made me actually envious because I can't seem to manage to take the "heat". The spicy meals were great tasting but I just had to struggle in drinking a lot of water to ease the painful sting of the spices. A quick reminder: Be sure to tell the waiter if you want your meals really spicy or just plain mild.

Fresh fruit shakes would always be my top order for my drinks, and 8 spices had several choices to choose from.

There is wine placed in every table. Though I believe its not really a complimentary drink and that you have to pay for it if in case you want to have a sip.

The Crispy Fish with Mango Salad or Yam Pla Poo, is made from shredded catfish mixed with crumbs and a few cashews on top, and complemented by a mango salad side dish.

The Fried Prawn Patties or the Tod Mun Goong were excellent, and later I found out that they are one of the best sellers at their restaurants especially for the kids.

The Chicken Pandan served in an edible basket like container that I think is made out of sweet potato, was my favorite among all the dishes served at 8 spices. Not because chicken was always my first choice, but because the taste was really fulfilling.

The Spicy Parwn Soup or Tom Yam Goong had plenty of shrimps and leafy vegetables for a very filling meal. The soup, which had a spicy milky flavor that you will surely love, is good enough for two to three people.

The Bagoong Fried Rice or the Khao Krook Gapi was my favorite. I just adored the green mango strips on top. The rice was cooked just perfect, the meat were soft and easy to chew, and the onions added further flavor to the dish. The "bagoong" was perfect for the green mango strips.

The Seafood Fried Rice with Basil Sauce or the Khao Phad Grapao Thalay is highly recommended. In fact, I could finish more than just one dish on my own.

The choices of dessert was also commendable. Their best seller was the one with a coconut ingredient. The creamy coconut custard that is sprinkled with grated roasted coconut was called Thako.

The Steamed Black Sticky Rice with Thai Custard is just like that of our traditional "biko" that is similarly cooked in brown sugar but this one is topped with Thai Custard and caramelized sugar.

My friend loved not only the desserts, but most of the dishes (even the spicy ones) served to us.

Though I'm not really a spicy food lover, I would surely come back for more if I get the itching for some real authentic Thai cuisine. Anyway, you also have the option to instruct the chef to keep the food mild if you are not really fond of spicy foods, but that's steering away from the real Thai spicy food experience. Nevertheless, great food is never masked by the spiciness. You will easily identify the taste that 8 Spices is truly proud of.

  2. Also the MMA sport is a fight sport and there’s the danger of
getting injured in the bout as also sometimes it could kill
the participating contenders. Marquardt and Silva match up quite well, because they both are well-rounded fighters.
Pierce closes the distance early and pushes
    Mitchell against the cage.
