Boy Scouts of the Philippines Has a New Hotel

The Boy Scouts of the Philippines has a brand new hotel in Laguna and its practically just a few months old. I was fortunate enough to be among the first one to try out the accommodations when an NGO sponsored an event for a group of techies and developers and the hotel was the chosen place for the entire group to stay.

The Boy Scouts of the Philippines (BSP) is the national Scout organization of the Philippines. Its mission is to imbue in the youth the love of God, country, and fellow men; to train young people to become responsible leaders; and to contribute in nation-building.

The BSP was chartered under Commonwealth of the Philippines Act No. 111 on October 31, 1936. Its predecessor was the Philippine Council chartered by the Boy Scouts of America in 1923 through the work of American, Chinese, and Filipino businessmen and interest groups.

Scouting in the Philippines became official in 1923 with the establishment of the Philippine Council of the Boy Scouts of America. The Philippines became an independent Scouting nation in 1938, with the handover of assets and duties of the BSA Philippine Council to the Boy Scouts of the Philippines. In 1940, the Girl Scouts of the Philippines was founded. In 1959, the 10th World Scout Jamboree was held in Mount Makiling, Los Baños, Laguna, the first world Scout jamboree held in Asia.

The current National President of the BSP is Vice President of the Philippines Jejomar Cabauatan Binay and its Secretary-General is José Rizal Cuba Pangilinan.

The facilities inside are amazingly elegant and conducive enough for a relaxing stay. Not too fancy but admittedly exquisite to the taste. What I noticed was aside from the several images of the BSP, there were a few Buddha figurines that adorned some of the table tops as well.

The hotel lobby was wide and spacious. Very decent looking and contains a few images of the BSP, including a portrait of a popular BSP head, the logo of the BSP with the "Laging Handa" (Always Ready) trademark signage, and a huge painting at the counter showing boy scouts at work.

There were two elevators for the convenience of the guests....though the hotel is only a few floors tall (I forgot the exact number of floors - but I think its just around 8 floors), there are these "lifts" as part of the hotel provision.

There are a few conference rooms that are spacious enough for meetings and conferences.

The rooftop contains an roofed open space for parties, team activities and other gatherings.

Here's a few more pictures of the hotel amenities:

The dining area is also very big and can accommodate several guests.

 The hallways are bright enough

The rooms were neat and tidy, an indication it has not been used a lot yet. It was a n honor to be one of the first to get to stay in the hotel. My assigned room was a two bedroom accommodation. It was actually good for four persons. The beds are simple yet comfy. I slept well during my overnight stay.

The usual room ameniteis were there. LCD TV with cable connection and remote, bath towels good for four, the complimentary soap, shampoo and toothpaste/toothbrush, etc.

A Do Not Disturb sign at the door knob.

I stayed in room 106. I seem to be staying in rooms with always the number 6.

The view from my bedroom window was a lush green of trees reminding me we are actually in the middle of a forest surrounded by several trees.

The staff were friendly and always smiling when assisting guests. The photo below is of the hotel staff at the hotel counter that was assigned on the night shift, and she was one pretty little lady who says she's not afraid to man the hotel far from the town proper.

I guess I would come visit the hotel again if in case I get assigned there again. The place is quiet and peaceful. The serene surrounding is ideal for a very relaxing stay if you want some peace of mind to get some inspiration in writing, painting nature, or just some rest and recreation.
