Artrepreneurship

ARTREPRENEURSHIP
PRESENTATION BY LOVEN RAMOS

Artrepreneurship is the merging of two unlikely, conflicting worlds – business and art. It’s about finding the balance of connecting your work to an audience, making your work and profession as an artist financially viable, and finding fulfillment in the entire process.

Loven Ramos is a visual poet who had a rocky start with art. After being refused by his folks to study Fine Arts for practical purposes, he packed his bags after college and moved to Manila to try his luck in art but was rejected from one gallery to another. He became an accidental ART-repreneur when he moved to Cambodia from the Philippines in 2005 where he began his journey as a graphic designer for a hotel then eventually became a full time artist – leading to exhibitions in Beijing, Singapore and New York. He then collaborated with artist and designer friends to open the One Gallery, Poetry and ArtDeli in Siem Reap and Artillery in Phnom Penh. Last year, he opened 1961 - a hybrid of hotel, gallery, residence for visiting artists and performance space. He also co-founded Angkor Art Explo - a traveling art festival in Siem Reap and Battambang. He is currently organizing the Northern Kingdoms Poetry Journeys, a two-city writing festival in Siem Reap and Chiang Mai, Thailand.
