SM Prime and AboitizPower Secure Long-Term Cleanergy Deal

SM Prime Holdings, Inc. (SM Prime), one of the leading property developers in Southeast Asia, secures a long-term deal with AboitizPower for Cleanergy supply, realizing its goal of increasing its renewable energy portfolio to more than 50%. This is in support of the Department of Energy’s program of moving up the renewable energy supply component of the country to 35% by year 2030.

Under the agreement, AboitizPower is poised to supply reliable and responsibly-sourced energy from Tiwi and MakBan Geothermal Power Plants, and PV Sinag’s Power Plants, operated and managed by AboitizPower subsidiary, Aboitiz Renewables, Inc. (ARI). This long-term contract will power SM Prime properties, including malls, leisure homes, offices, hotels, and other establishments under the Retail Competition and Open Access (RCOA) by the end of 2022.

PLDT Enterprise, ePLDT power ASIST’s Smart Campu

PLDT Enterprise and its ICT arm ePLDT will enable the smart campus project of Abra State Institute of Science and Technology (ASIST) that aims to boost student engagement with technology through digitalization and to encourage development of insight-driven solutions to problems such as the COVID-19 pandemic.

To power the institution, PLDT Enterprise and ePLDT will extend a secure and managed Internet network infrastructure including Managed IT and Cybersecurity services.

“It is our top priority to work with universities and colleges in providing secure and reliable network connectivity and solutions that will help amplify digital academic activities in support of their digitalization roadmap,” said Vic Tria, First Vice President for Enterprise Revenue Group of PLDT Enterprise

Dr. Gregorio T. Turqueza Jr., President of ASIST, said the institute targets to utilize smart technologies to support its students in honing their digital expertise and helping them become globally competitive professionals.

“Amid our changing learning environment, we, at Abra State Institute of Science and Technology, thrust to leverage innovative technologies to provide better learning experiences to our students. This will help our learners to gain necessary digital skill sets they would need to unlock better opportunities for their future,” said Turqueza.

Dennis Magbatoc, AVP and Corporate Relationship Management Head of PLDT Enterprise added that the support from PLDT Enterprise and ePLDT will provide ASIST with the needed robust digital infrastructure towards becoming a smart educational institution.

The Commission on Higher Education (CHED) defines smart campuses as “spaces where higher education institutions use next-generation digital technologies woven seamlessly with a well-architected infrastructure to develop tools to enhance teaching and learning, research and extension, as well as to improve operational efficiency.”

Dr. Noel B. Begnalen, Vice President for Academic Affairs and Technical Lead for the Smart Campus Project, said that this initiative is also expected to deliver promising outcomes to their institution such as improved operational efficiency, boost their teaching capabilities, and foster a digital learning environment.

The group-wide push for supporting education underscores the commitment of the PLDT Group to help the Philippines attain the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (UNSDGs), particularly SDG #4: Quality Education as a foundation in improving people’s lives and obtaining sustainable development.

PETA offers hyflex theater workshops

Philippine Educational Theater Association (PETA) is opening its first batch of hyflex theater classes (combination of face-to-face and online) from September 10-October 16, 2022.



PETA has always been known for its welcoming atmosphere for both newcomers and more seasoned artists, and its upcoming cycle of the “Workshop Weekends” is no different. PETA invites theater enthusiasts, budding and experienced performers, and creatives-at-heart, to pursue their passion through its various offerings:

Theater Arts: An artistic experience for beginners! Theater Arts teaches fundamental knowledge, skills and attitudes in theater acting, dramatic improvisation and theater production craft.

Creative Musical Theater: A course designed to develop one’s musicality through song interpretation and storytelling. Creative Musical Theater has sessions on voice, composition, performance and various music explorations.






Basic Acting: This course is recommended for those who want to level up their skills, experience and performance. In Basic Acting, students' acting tools will be further enhanced by exploring different acting styles and principles.

“Workshop Weekends” face-to-face sessions will be held at the PETA Theater Center, New Manila, Quezon City, and all online classes will be via Zoom.

All workshops are scheduled to fit the hectic work hours of professionals and young adults (17 and up) with sessions happening during weekends.

Week 1: September 10, 11 (face-to-face)

Week 2: September 17, 18 (online)

Week 3: September 24, 25 (face-to-face)

Week 4: October 1, 2 (online)

Week 5: October 8, 9 (face-to-face)

Week 6: October 15, 16 (face-to-face)

Theater Arts AM class: 9:00 AM - 2:00 PM

Theater Arts PM class: 3:30 PM - 8:30 PM

Basic Acting: 9:00 AM - 2:00 PM

Creative Musical Theater: 3:30 PM - 8:30 PM
