Energy Sector All Set for Election Day

Wazzup Pilipinas!

The Power Task Force Election (PTFE), led by the Department of Energy (DOE), has beefed up its power monitoring to ensure adequate, stable and reliable electricity supply for the election period.

In a press briefing held in Quezon City, Energy Secretary Zenaida Y. Monsada announced that the PTFE’s headquarter is now in operation starting 12:00 noon today, putting a 24-hour monitoring on the plants’ status and power situation in the whole country to make sure that all systems are ready to provide electricity services on Election Day until all votes are canvassed.

While there are two plants on forced outage (180 megawatt (MW)-Kalayaan U4 until May 14, and 300MW Malaya U1 until May 10), Sec. Monsada emphasized that the power supply reserves in Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao tomorrow, May 9, are all above normal levels due to the low demand projection since Election Day is a holiday, in which the demand is lower than that during regular working days.

Moreover, Avion Gas Plant, which is undergoing commissioning may inject 45MW of power to the grid.

Sec. Monsada hopes that there will be no tripping of power plants tomorrow, although she emphasized that contingency measures are in place. She further stressed that the PFTE ensures that all voting precincts will have provision of electricity to ensure a clean and unquestionable elections.

The power projection for tomorrow (May 09):

Luzon
Visayas
Mindanao
System Capacity
10,374 MW
1,864 MW
1,598MW
Demand
7,764MW
1,655 MW
1,363
Gross Reserve
2,710MW
209MW
235MW
Peak Demand Time
1:00p.m.-3:00p.m.
5:00p.m.-7:00p.m.
5:00p.m.-7:00p.m.

On grid monitoring, this includes regional command centers in North and South Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao, which all have links to substations in regional and district command centers.

For Distribution Utilities (DUs), the National Electrification Administration has also command centers for electric cooperatives, while the National Power Corporation is monitoring the rural areas under Small Power Utilities Group.

In addition, Manila Electric Company (Merlaco), in support of the DOE call for ensuring provision adequate and reliable supply, has established its own command center. Meralco has reported that 786 MW were committed under the Interruptible Load Program.

In another news, Sec. Monsada reiterated that the Inter-Agency Task Force on Securing Energy Facilities goes beyond election to protect energy facilities, including the transmission towers. Despite the fact that the Transmission Tower No. 25 has been bombed and toppled again, Agus 1 and Agus 2 can still provide power to the Mindanao grid because alternate lines were restored.

The PTFE also enjoins the public to report any power disruption or untoward incident to the following contact details:

SMART: 0998-381-6167
GLOBE: 0917-541-4917

Moreover, power supply updates on Election Day will be published through the DOE’s Twitter account (@DOE_PH), Facebook account (www.facebook.com/doe.gov.ph) and the DOE website (www.doe.gov.ph), as well as in various social networking sites of the Election Power Task Force members at a designated time in the morning, afternoon, and evening.

Even without elections, the DOE continues to encourage all energy consumers to practice efficient and judicious use of electricity in their day-to-day activities.

Happy Mother's Day from Wazzup Pilipinas!

Wazzup Pilipinas!

Mothers love us unconditionally. They uplift us when we’re down and remind us of the grace of humility when we excel. They make us better people. They are one of God's greatest gifts to us, and Mother's Day is a good time to express our gratitude to them.

For the record: traditional Mother's Day in the Philippines is on the First Monday of December. But the truth is you can never have enough days for Moms, so why not observe both the Hallmark Holiday and the traditional Filipino one!

This is an opportunity to honor and celebrate the mothers, grand-mothers, sisters, daughters and best friends - all of the beautiful nurturers and care-takers - in your life!

Mothers unconditionally loves, cares and sponsors the highest possibilities for us. She is the face of love, heart of love, body of love in the manifest world. She is a fierce champion, loving friend, supporter, cheerleader and clearest mirror back to us of the greatest version of ourselves. She awakens us to our own goodness and possibilities for our life that are bigger than we can see for ourselves. She provides us not just with the physical resources we need to thrive but the encouragement and safe place to land that fosters our courage to play and risk big.

Mother's Day changed when I married my wife. I saw my wife become what God created her to be. She helped me step back and see the whole divine picture.

It's not just about the mom who packed your lunches for grade school or picked you up from a friend's house in the middle of the night.

It's about the mom who made you, who grew you, who birthed you into the light. It's about the mom that woke up 483 times to nurse you, to change you, to care for your every whine.

If we're not careful, we might forget that mothers are the vessels of life. They kept us alive. They allowed us to thrive.

So don't just thank your mom for the love. Thank her for everything. Because without mothers there wouldn't be anything.

Happy Mother's Day to all you moms out there. You have the hardest and most rewarding job in the world. To my beautiful wife, and mother of my three gorgeous children, Hannah Krystelle, Hezon Kyle and Hansel Kyro, I thank you all for being the blessings in my life.

Duterte Cayetano Miting De Avance at Quirino Grandstand

Wazzup Pilipinas!

An estimated 700k people flocked at the Quirino Grandstand in Luneta to attend the Miting de Avance of Rodrigo Duterte and Alan Peter Cayetano. Simultaenously also happening is also a gathering of a mammoth crowd at the Crocodile Farm in Davao.

People were mostly wearing red shirts having printed images of Duterte proudly shown an flaunted for the world to see. I am just not sure if these numbers are really for Duterte since there are also many people who are just curious of what will transpire at the Miting de Avance.

Duterte had a lengthy speech after a song number of Freddie Aguilar who sang a familiar tune but with lyrics customized for Duterte's campaign. Duterte also showed off two of his pretty daughters in the middle of his speech before he ends it with the endorsement of other candidates running for different position which included Amado Bagatsing  for Mayor of Manila, Cesar Montano for the Aangat Tayo partylist, Greco Belgica for Senator, Sandra Cam for Senator, Raffy Alunan for Senator, Francis Tolentino for Senator, Martin Romualdez for Senator, Roman Romulo for Senator, Gen. Santiago for Senator, Gen. Sammy Pagbilao for Senator, the Cancer partylist, ACP Partylist, Global Partylist, PBA Partylist, One Pacman partylist, and a lot more. We also noticed celebrity Julia Barreto on stage. Kat de Castro, daughter of former Vice President Noli De Castro and has an ABS-CBN show of Swak na Swak, was moderating the presentation of candidates.

Surprisingly, he even endorsed Manny Paquiao eventhough Pacman is allied with Jejomar Binay.

It is just a shame that there were fake postings on social media that came out showing off  photos claiming coming from the Duterte-Cayetano event, which were later proven false and merely photos grabbed from other events that happened at different dates. Why do they have to come out with fake photos if their event is really strong? Are these the works of Duterte supporters or the detractors trying to confuse the public?

I must really say that Duterte is crude, rude, harsh, and major disconnect with what he's actually done in Davao, but he now undoubtedly got the people interested with this crazy and lewd style of attitude.
