The Complete Guide To Purchasing Rental Car Insurance

Wazzup Pilipinas!

Car rental agency is also known as car hire or hire car agency. They are agencies that allow individuals or corporate bodies to rent automobiles for a short while, usually a few hours, days or even weeks. Basically, they render assistance to people that do not have a vehicle, or for whatever reason have a need for a car to carry out an assignment.

Car insurance, on the other hand, is a platform that offers financial protection on the event bodily injuries or physical damages caused by a traffic accident, alongside other financial responsibilities that may result from such collision. Sponsored post.

In a case where you do not have your own personal auto insurance policy, you may need to opt or apply for rental car insurance. When dealing with a car rental insurance process there is a need for you to carry out proper research to avoid car hire excess insurance. Rental insurance claim covers events like:

Bodily injury
Smoke damage
Fire and lighting
Explosion
Theft
Damage caused by electrical appliances
Weight from falling objects
Damage caused by other vehicles
Wild windstorm damage etc.

A number of insurance policies have a reasonable level of liability coverage; therefore you tend to get a level of refunds in an event of getting sued for damages on the vehicle or bodily injury. They also make payments for the benefactor on legal expenses as well as a court judgment, to the extent to which the insurance policy covers.

Events That Are Not Covered By Rental Insurance Policies

It is very vital that you know that your rental insurance policy may not cover you on a number of events. Some of such uncommon events are an earthquake, flooding, tornadoes, hurricane, and other natural disasters that are quite unavoidable.

Why Do You Need Rental Car Insurance?

Rental car insurance can be a little bit costly. However, not having it can be more costly. Here are some reasons why you may need rental car insurance:

Most states compulsorily require that you have a car insurance policy, whether rental or not.

If you, unfortunately, get involved in a car accident, it could totally distort all of your current financial standings.

The rental agency will also want you to have an insurance policy to cover some level of risk on contingency.

Major Coverage Area of a Car Rental Insurance Policy

There are usually four major types of insurance coverage available when a car is being rented:

Loss damage waiver (LDW): this is also popularly known as collision damage waiver (CDW), which covers the beneficiary from damages that occurs during the period of renting the car. If you are to use your own personal policy, it might not cover up to the full value of the vehicle you have rented. Therefore you may need a loss-damage waiver to remain secured. LDW/CDW covers you a whole lot if your rented car gets stolen, crushed or damaged.

Supplemental liability insurance (SLI): this aspect of the rental insurance policy covers damage on other vehicles, properties, and medical bills while driving a rental car. This can be evaded if your umbrella policy is intact and is not lesser than the rental coverage limit.

Personal accident insurance: PAI makes provision for coverage on medical expenses for you and everyone in the car when there is an accident.

Personal effects coverage (PEC): this is an internal provision that is made to cover items that are stolen or damaged from the rental car. Even when you have active auto insurance, it will not cover for items that are inside the car. Therefore you need an extra rental insurance policy to cover for such incidence.

Things to Consider Before Purchasing Car Rental Insurance
The process of purchasing rental car insurance to protect your rental car might be very tedious and confusing, so you do not what to make silly mistakes. Here are some things to check for while booking for your next exquisite road trip.

Be sure of everything that your rental car insurance covers you for, know the things that are excluded. The major things that are usually excluded from the rental car insurance are damage to wheels, engine, roof, tyre, mirrors, and windows.

Ensure to use a separate standard insurance agency to evade car hire excess insurance

Certify whether there is Roadside assistance in your policy.

Be ready for a credit card deposit.

Take the company’s contact in case of an emergency.

Check for the authenticity of the insurance company. You may also check CarJunkYardsNearMe.com for your non-working cars needs.

Consumer Group to Seek Legal Action Against NEA

Wazzup Pilipinas!

The National Association of Electricity Consumers for Reforms Inc. (Nasecore) has threatened legal action against the National Electrification Administration (NEA) if it fails to act on complaints against four officials of government owned electric cooperatives for allegedly using government funds and resources for campaigning as party list nominees in the last elections.

Nasecore is the group that took Manila Electric Company to the Supreme Court for overcharging consumers by including its income tax payments in the bill and won, with the SC ordering it to refund P30 billion to consumers.

“In the event that NEA fails or refuses to take remedial action on the matter and fails to formally notify us of its said action…we shall be compelled to take all legal remedies to protect member-consumer-owner interests,” Nasecore executive director Rafael Antonio Acebedo said in a letter to NEA on May 29.

According to Nasecore, the NEA has supervisory powers over electric cooperatives and that its function includes ensuring the economic and financial viability and operation of all electric cooperatives.

Acebedo asked the NEA for copies of the resignation letters of Atty. Danny Pondevilla of Northern Negros Electric Cooperative, Sergio Dagooc of Siargao Electric Cooperative, ENgr. Godofredo Guya of Davao del Sur Electric Cooperative, and Adriano Ebcas of Camiguin Electric Cooperative who all ran as representatives of partylist groups such as Philreca, APEC, Recoboda, and Ako Padayan last election.

Aside from the resignation letters, Nasecore also requested for copies of the board resolutions that would have accepted the resignations and the confirmation of the NEA of the resignations.

“We are making this request to ensure that their employment as general managers have ceased thereby stopping their entitlement to their monthly salaries and allowances and the possible use of cooperative funds and resources in their campaign efforts,” Acebedo said.

Even if the four did not tender resignation letters, they should have been considered resigned from their posts the moment they accepted the nomination as party-list representatives and should no longer have been entitled to “emoluments or privileges pertaining to such position,” Nasecore said.

Nasecore had earlier put NEA to task for allowing electric cooperatives donate funds for the campaigns of some partylist groups.

Here are the five easy steps you need to follow if you want to book flight tickets at affordable prices:

Step 1 - Be flexible

Prices of the airline tickets vary hugely on the time and day that you are looking to travel.

For example, if you are choosing a holiday to travel, then the price of the tickets will definitely be higher than you expect it to be.

If you are looking to travel in the Christmas holidays, New Year’s Day, or any other holiday, then the prices of the tickets will be much higher than the usual weekdays or weekends.

If you want to book the tickets when most of the people also want to fly, then definitely you will have to pay more amount of money to book the flight tickets.

You can try to travel in the weekdays before the holidays begin or after the holiday ends.

Similarly, keeping the time factor in mind is also essential for you. Try to avoid peak
business hours when everyone will be booking the tickets.

Step 2 - Look for Alternate Airports
Not only being flexible with the dates and time will help you in finding some cheap flights, but it is also essential to opt for alternate airports that will reduce the cost of the airfare.

For example, if you are choosing Air Canada for travelling to different places, it’s crucial for you to keep in mind that choosing connecting flights of the same airline to the final destination can also help you in saving a considerable amount of time.

You can go through the Air Canada flight information panels to understand how the
connecting flight works and how can you save money if you are choosing connecting

You can also visit the place where your connecting flight is landing with the money you have saved from booking the expensive flights.

Step 3 - Fly with Free reward points
Not many of us know that you can book flight tickets for free using the reward points your bank offers.

If you do not have any credit cards, then you can opt for one and choose to book the flight tickets using the travel cards.

With the airfares going high every day, banks have come up with some great credit cards and reward points strategy that helps an ordinary person to save a lot of money.
What you need to do is get in touch the banking officials to obtain one credit card in which you can accumulate reward points that will help you in booking the flight tickets for free of cost. Most of the banks offer to join bonuses or travel reward points. Don’t miss out in any choosing the best deals available for you.

You can just register yourself in the airline rewards to earn points whenever you are
booking any tickets. This will get accumulated in your banking and credit card account that you can use it later.

The best benefit of choosing these card services is you can pay the price of the ticket later or in instalments as per your choice.

Step 4 - Choose Budget Airlines
Budget airlines usually offer cheaper tickets that are significantly low when it considered to any other airlines.

Although you will have to make some compromises when it comes to seating
arrangements or services provided by the airlines, you will end up saving a lot of money that you can invest it in your mutual funds or in your travel too.

If you have a strict budget, then it’s just for you to adjust and compromise with the
circumstances arises within your flight journey.

Not that all the budget-friendly airlines offer low-quality services, there are lots of budget airlines that provide fantastic services with excellent hospitality, which is difficult to find in any other counterparts.

Step 5 - Use different search engines to book tickets

All the search engines are nowadays providing great services to the customers. You cannot only see the alternatives of booking cheapest flight tickets, but you can also compare it with the other flight service providers to determine which is the best budget-friendly airline service provider that you can opt for.

Few search engines such as Expedia, Skyscanner, Airfare Watchdog, etc. consistently inflate high airfares as compared to others.

It’s essential for you to understand and find some alternatives to these websites that offer great deals and best prices of booking the tickets.

While booking tickets using these search engines, it’s also important for you to switch to the incognito mode, which doesn’t allow the websites to find cookies and determine your search history.

There are various search engines available on the web that you can opt for rather than
choosing the usual ones that everyone searches for.

You can compare the prices on different websites, including the popular ones. You can also perform valuable research from your end to find the best alternatives of the search engines and choose the best one that offers the best price.

Final Words
These were the five easy steps you need to follow to find the best deals available and

DOE Fast Tracks Inspection of Completed ER No. 1-94 Projects

Wazzup Pilipinas!

The Department of Energy (DOE), through its Electric Power Industry Management Bureau – Rural Electrification Administration and Management Division (EPIMB-REAMD) has successfully inspected 74%, or 53 of the 72 development projects that have been implemented by various Local Government Units (LGUs) hosting generating facilities or power plants funded under the Energy Regulations No. 1-94 (ER No. 1-94) Program. These inspections are in line with DOE Secretary Alfonso G. Cusi’s policy issuances, DC2018-08-0021, which redirects the administration of the ER No. 1-94 Program to LGUs, as well as the first Implementation Advisory Letter on the guidelines for the direct remittance of financial benefits by Generation Companies to their host communities starting CY 2019.

Under the ER No. 1-94 or Benefits to Host Communities Program, pertinent LGUs are entitled to avail of financial benefits for hosting energy resources and/or energy-generating facilities within their territorial jurisdiction.

The Program provides for Generation Companies and/or energy resource developers to set aside PhP 0.01 per kilowatt-hour of their total electricity sales as financial benefits to host communities, which shall be allocated to three types of funds: one-half of one centavo for the Electrification Fund of the concerned Distribution Utilities; one-fourth of one centavo for the Development and Livelihood Fund; and another one-fourth of one centavo for the Reforestation, Watershed Management, Health and/or Environment Enhancement Fund of the host LGUs.

“The Department has been working hard to complete the close-out of ER No. 1-94 projects so that the succeeding financial benefits will benefit the host communities directly,” Sec. Cusi said.

He further added that the direct remittance of financial benefits to host communities would lead to a considerable increase in public sector projects to be realized by host LGUs and their Distribution Utilities, which would redound to the benefit of their respective constituents and customers.

EPIMB-REAMD has been tasked to complete the inspection of the remaining 19 ER No. 1-94 projects within 2019.

For this you will need to know the broader aspect of health care integration, the potential hospice MA carve-in as well as the Primary Cares First Initiative that is launched by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services. In addition to that you will need to know several other topics of conversation such as:

 The integration of Kindred at Home

 Rise of the pay-provider model and

 The shift from volume to value-based home health care.

The thing that will really intrigue you is the integration of the payer and the provider around a home and the member.

You will have to do a lot of work to understand how the payer and provider integrate and how they partner. You will also have to be adequately knowledgeable about some of the new payment models such as:

 Bundled payments

 ACOs and

 The Comprehensive Primary Care Initiative.

All of these factors will align the provider for home health care Philadelphia with the care receiver as well as the outcomes that the providers are trying to produce.

In most of the cases the providers usually take the risk in trying to align the community-pharmacy partnership, population health and the community based efforts. This will help the provider to support the patients between and even prevent doctor visits.

 Another exciting thing about the puzzle is the integration around the home that is where the patients live. This is a very personal place that will have a lot of contextual features of the lives and different aspects of the patients. In fact, it is this setting that will help the home health care provider to create a bigger impact and produce a more holistic improvement in the lives of the patients and people they serve.

 Another very thing about working for a Medicare Advantage plan is that there will be a lot more flexibility regarding how the providers support and engage home health care.

All in all, such a puzzle will not only be fun to solve but will also help you to be more creative, cooperative and comprehensive while all the time you will be able to be around that rules of traditional Medicare. MA and non-medical home care

These days, typically it is more about MA and non-medical home care. As far as MA is concerned it is of course more flexible as it was always in this space. However, the magic lies in trying to reach out to people where they live because you will need to understand the impact and influence of their social, behavioral as well as physical health needs.

The CMS has afforded some of the flexibility with its MA plans along with a few supplemental benefits.

 This provides a huge opportunity to the home health care service providers to be much more proactive than before regarding meeting patients where they live both literally and figuratively.

 This does not only involve meeting them in their homes but also involves meeting them along with the barriers as well as the personal and mental challenges that they face.

 This means they can be isolated, mentally depressed and even have problems with transportation. It could also be that they do not have healthy food to eat.

All these things form the bigger pieces of the puzzle that when fixed will give you a better picture but will place you a broader puzzle.

It is this specific area that you should focus now. This involves how you will pull all those remaining pieces together so that you can help your member in the true and best possible way.

The significant CMS moves

If you look at the historical perspective you will see that fairly recently the CMS has made some moves that suggests that hospice may be carved into Medicare Advantage. The policymakers even were encouraged to test this idea and put it into their policies. This is how the Value-Based Insurance Design or VBID was born and is expected to roll out in 2021.

However, the parameters of these are still not clear but you can expect it will be better and most effective to eventually carve in hospice into MA. As of now there is a forced choice between the two:

 Curative treatment or

 Palliative treatment.

According to type of treatment offered the payment too comes from different sources for that particular treatment. Well, this can result in forced choice delays care which in turn may create a great deal of anxiety for those patients suffering with advanced illness.

However, the idea behind carving hospice into MA is to provide a more seamless transition.

Therefore, theoretically and over time such an approach will stay and prove to be better in the fields of home care, home health, palliative care and hospice.

The main thing is that you do not have to go through the problems of having to change payers.

More importantly, you do not have to change the networks and all other things. In addition to that you are also not forced to make any of these decisions which may eventually make your feel that you are giving up something.

Therefore, CMS is really making an investment internally to create a better home health care system that could be ideally called the enterprise clinical operating model.

FEU Comm major named Veritas Best Male Anchor

Wazzup Pilipinas!

A student from the Far Eastern University Department of Communication won Best Male Anchor as Radio Veritas 846, the nation’s leading faith-based AM station, recognized schools and students’ excellence in radio broadcasting in their youth-oriented weekly program Campus Hour Season 9 last June 1 at Centro Escolar University-Malolos in Bulacan.

Alan Moya bested other bets in the said category as FEU DepComm also got nominations for Best Female Anchor (Roselene Ariola), Best Promotional Material and the Veritas Truth Award.

Campus Hour, which features content solely produced by college students from various schools in Metro Manila and nearby areas, aims to provide communication students the opportunity to showcase their talents and creativity and take part in the Catholic radio station’s evangelization program through nationwide broadcast and global outreach through the internet. Every participating school is provided four consecutive episodes per season.

Prof. Karen Panela, who mentored the FEU team, shared that it started in 2010 when Radio Veritas initially partnered with six higher learning institutions to hold the program, which airs every Saturday, from 2:30 to 3:30 p.m., at its 846 AM signal and is streamed live at www.veritas846.ph.
“The project is called Veritas Campus Hour. Each school is assigned a month to go on air on the allotted programming schedule. Content must be produced for the youth, by the youth, and at the end of each season, they hold the awarding ceremonies,” Panela explained.

Moya, who is grateful for winning the award, described his initial foray into the program. “It was in a class by Ma’am Panela, a radio production class requiring each group to present a program for an AM station. I got invited by my friends to be the host for their activity. When Ma’am Panela saw my performance, she egged me to audition for FEU Campus Hour Season 9.”

“I auditioned and Ma’am Panela liked what she heard so she made me the male anchor of the program. I co-hosted FEU Campus Hour Season 9 for four Saturdays and it was really a challenge for me to fit it into my sked because I am also a working student,” Moya revealed.

FEU’s core team for the Veritas program is made up of Panela, Moya, Ariola, executive producer Alanis Nicole David, assistant producer Ricka Mae De Castro, line producer Jace Tionko, technical director Harvey Chryz Lim, social media managers Gregory John Jingco and Chanel Santos, documentation staff Jeric Sangcap and production assistant Jam Nicole Aniel.

Established in 1969, Radio Veritas 846 continues to be the leading social communications ministry for truth and evangelization in the country. The station, which is owned and operated by the Archdiocese of Manila, received the Ramon Magsaysay Award for playing a key role in mobilizing people power for a peaceful transition in authority in 1986.

‘Mula Sa Buwan’ Songwriter William Elvin Returns To Indie Music Roots With New Album to be Released June 25

Wazzup Pilipinas!

Before gaining recognition with the recently produced original musical ‘Mula Sa Buwan’ and touching the hearts and minds of Philippine theater fans in Metro Manila, singer-songwriter William Elvin was selling self-produced CDs to anyone willing to listen.

In fact, his musical talent was first noticed by his theater classmates and mentors through these home-recorded albums in the late 2000s, which gave him the chance to write several Filipino musicals from 2009 to 2016.

“Social media wasn’t as big then as it is today, so we had to rely on friends and families to sell the few copies that we personally handed over to them,” recalls William.

“Every CD sold, and every positive comment we got felt like hard-earned personal achievements.”

In 2019, coming off of his theater songwriting career in the past decade, William Elvin has returned to the do-it-yourself, free-spirited musical approach in his new album “Sacred/Profane/Mundane”.

“Sacred/ Profane/Mundane” is a collection of original compositions that highlight introspective, emotional and carefully crafted lyricism; dreamy and whimsical melodies;
as well as raw, visceral and intuitive musical arrangements – drawing from various influences such as The Beatles, Bob Dylan, David Bowie and Filipino alternative pop/rock acts.

Described as “brilliant”, “soulful, propulsively melodic” and “theatrical but authentic” by critics, William Elvin’s unique sound is exemplified by the album’s promotional singles:
the country/folk-inspired “(I Will Be) The Happy, Shiny One (For You), “The Last Lovers on Earth” as well as the haunting ballad “Ang Sabi Nila”, which are now gaining a growing number of listeners on Spotify and Apple Music.

Watch William Elvin perform live, with fellow musicians
Roger Alcantara, Rigil Borromeo, Dana Marquez and
Satur Tiamson, to launch “Sacred/Profane/Mundane”
at the Black Box Theater of the PARC Foundation
(494 Lt. Artiaga, San Juan, 1500 Metro Manila, Philippines)
on June 25, 2019. Tuesday, at 7 PM.

'Oda Sa Wala' to Compete at Karlovy Vary International Film Festival

Wazzup Pilipinas!

Filipino filmmaker Dwein Baltazar’s “Oda sa Wala” joins the diverse selection of outstanding films in competition at the 54th Karlovy Vary International Film Festival (KVIFF), making it the only competing Filipino film in the prestigious film festival for 2019.

Established in 1946, the KVIFF is the largest film festival in the Czech Republic, the leading film event across Central and Eastern Europe, and one of the oldest film festivals in the world. The KVIFF shares the same category as Cannes, Berlin, Venice, San Sebastian, Moscow, Montreal, Shanghai, and Tokyo as one of the world’s most prestigious film festivals.

The Film Development Council of the Philippines (FDCP), the country’s film agency, champions diversity and gender inclusivity in the film industry. “Having ‘Oda sa Wala’ compete in one of the top-tier film festivals in the world is an important achievement in Philippine cinema. Aside from being the only competing Filipino film in Karlovy Vary this year, this also makes Dwein Baltazar the first Filipino female director who will be competing in an A-list film festival in Europe. As a Filipino and as a woman, her representation in the film industry is something we should celebrate,” said FDCP Chairperson and CEO Mary Liza DiƱo.

On a Facebook post, producer Bianca Balbuena shared the good news and reminisced about talking to KVIFF’s Festival Director Karel Och about “Oda sa Wala.” She said, “Karel messaged me, ‘We are intrigued by the film and can imagine it on the list of candidates for the Main Competition to be discussed in April. But it is simply too early for us to make the decision now.’ So I closed my eyes and jumped the cliff. I said no to the other fests and decided to wait. I knew the blame will be on me if KVIFF ends up not choosing it and we missed our big chances. But I took the risk because I know that Dwein gave her heart and soul to this film and it is quite special and she deserves nothing less.”

Dwein Baltazar makes a repeat appearance in the KVIFF this year. In 2012, her debut feature film “Mamay Umeng” made its run in various major international film festivals, including the KVIFF.

“Oda sa Wala” is set to have its North American premiere and will be competing under the Camera Lucida section of the Fantasia Film Festival in Montreal, Quebec happening from July 11 to August 1, 2019.

The 54th Karlovy Vary International Film Festival runs from June 28 to July 6, 2019 in Karlovy Vary, Czech Republic.
