Sekitori Authentic Japanese Restaurant

Wazzup Pilipinas!

Minna-san! Kore wa Sekitori Authentic Japanese Restaurant desu. Watashi wa Sekitori ni ikemashita. Tottemo, kirei na basho desu. Soshite food wa oishikatta desu! Sorekara menu wa takusan desu. Soshite takusan shashin o torimashita. Sekitori wa takusan tabemashita. Tottemo oishikatta desu.
When they brought out the wooden ship dish filled with sashimi - composed of beautifully arranged fresh fish, like the blue fin tuna in season from all over Japan - from their kitchen, I had to agree that it is indeed a feast for the eyes, as well as the taste buds!

Sekitori Authentic Japanese Restaurant really knows how to please for bringing out the best first, sustaining our delight with more than a dozen equally tasteful dishes  ...and ending it with another winner for our dessert with assorted Japanese sweets.

The Sashimi Nihon Chokuso Mori that you see above is a mouthful that can already satisfy a few hungry souls. Though we had to make room for the other dishes, we opted to sample more than a slice of each kind for that night. We were warned that more dishes will be coming out, but they were just too good to ignore. It's not every day that you get to enjoy a huge treat as fresh as this.

But I was not surprised when something as huge as this ship full of sashimi was served because the restaurant's theme is also based on something big - the Japanese Sumo Wrestlers, specifically the Sekitori , a class or ranking in the middle of the sumo wrestler field,  which was were they got the name of the restaurant. Also, the restaurant owner was a sumo wrestler himself, as well as some of his relatives.

Aruba Delivers Mobile-First Networking Portfolio to Accelerate the Move to the Digital Workplace

Wazzup Pilipinas!

Aruba, a Hewlett Packard Enterprise company, announced a new suite of integrated networking software and hardware solutions that enable enterprises to address the digital workplace requirements of GenMobile, today’s mobile-savvy workforce, and the escalating connectivity demands of Internet of Things (IoT) devices. The new portfolio enables IT teams to anticipate and resolve connectivity problems, and create secure policies to build digital workplaces that are optimized to boost employee productivity.

Legacy networking models were built on the concept of static, wired desktop clients communicating with a pool of internal servers, an approach that is outdated in today’s business environment. The proliferation of mobile and IoT devices, as well as cloud-based apps, has caused enterprises to rethink traditional connectivity and mobility requirements to accommodate new workplace behavior, where collaboration and non-routine schedules have become the new normal. As a result, organizations must adjust their approach to implementing employee-centric services to attract and retain top talent.

Aruba’s new set of networking solutions and software-powered approach advance its offering beyond fixed, hardware-focused networking solutions. The new, integrated wired and wireless portfolio, combined with innovations in network management and security, allow IT organizations to design and augment their networks for the digital workplace.

Is Real Estate Data Transparency the Next Big Disruptor?

Wazzup Pilipinas!

Can online access to data change commercial real estate?

Buying property is usually the single biggest purchase a person will make over the course of their life. The process of searching for a new home is arduous and any prospective buyer will consume vast quantities of information before tenuously making their final decision.

The Internet age has ushered a new epoch, where consumers have most of the power. When shopping for a house you can use Lamudi an online portal that provides a prospector with numerous data points: recent sales in the area, price fluctuations in the past year, average prices per square meter and even mortgage prices. This puts the customer in the driving seat when it comes to negotiations.

Although information is now readily available online for private real estate, commercial real estate remains a different animal. It is still quite difficult to obtain information about lease and sales transactions and even in some cases the available space. Transparency of data has completely disrupted other major markets recently, Uber being the classic example, so is commercial real estate the next to change, change utterly?

Dingdong Dantes Endorses Risa Hontiveros

Wazzup Pilipinas!

Primetime star and youth icon Dingdong Dantes expressed his support to senatorial candidate and former PhilHealth Director Risa Hontiveros.

Dantes said that Hontiveros' advocacy of universal healthcare and track record as a legislator make her the candidate of choice for the Filipino family.

"As a family man, health is very important to me. It is high time for us to have leaders who give premium to the Filipino family's well-being. Yan, Zia and I are lucky to have good healthcare, and would like everyone to have the same", Dantes remarked.

"Klaro sa akin na lahat ng ginagawa nya sa kanyang laban para sa kababaihan, sa kabataan at lalung-lalo na sa kalusugan goes beyond just being advocacies kundi panata niya sa kanyang sarili at sa bayan. At nakita ko yun sa kanyang trabaho over the years", says Dantes.

Hontiveros, when she was partylist representative, pushed for the Cheaper Medicines Law.

Dantes finally expressed his hopes this coming May 9.

"Fanboy na nya ako mula nung tumakbo sya nung 2010 and until now, she has 100% of my support. I'm really hoping that the third time's the charm", Dantes concluded.

The ArtBGC Mural Festival Returns to BGC

Wazzup Pilipinas!

Splashes of color are ready to fill the walls of Bonifacio Global City (BGC) as Bonifacio Art Foundation, Inc. (BAFI) celebrates ArtBGC Mural Festival 2016. Now on its sophomore run, ArtBGC promises vibrant new murals and programs to make art and culture more accessible to BGCitizens.

The festival is done in collaboration with L.A.-based art consultancy, LeBasse Projects, and Honeycomb Communities. Multi-disciplinary artists such as: PastelFD, Andrew Schoultz, HOTxTEA, Bunnie Reiss, Aleks Kocev and Blaine Suque are bringing in their unique brand of creativity, hoping to build on the iconic atmosphere of BGC. Representing the Philippines in this festival are Kris Abrigo, Trip63 and ArtBGC Open Call winner, KFK. All artists, international delegates and select guests of BAFI will be treated to a welcome dinner hosted by the local government unit of Taguig. Keep an eye out for these talented individuals this May 12 to 21 as they make their mark on W 5th, NET One, Bonifacio High Street, Bonifacio Stopover and BGC Corporate Center.

While the painting is ongoing, BAFI has created a variety of programs to bring art closer to the community. The Alveo Art Tours are designed to walk you through the different mural sites – old and new. These daily tours start at the Alveo showroom along 28th Street. The Mind Museum will host Cafe Scientifique – a world-wide movement to bring science closer to the public through conversation. Public art will be discussed and dissected on May 14. Both events are free and open to the public.

Community takes on a bigger role this year. Coming from last year’s hype, BAFI was able to develop a small army of volunteers that will either be apprenticing under the muralists or running around BGC as part of the Street Team. Volunteers will be rehydrating and recharging at Burgos Eats thanks to Max’s Group. BAFI is also partnering with Fort Bonifacio Development Foundation, Inc. (FBDFI) to bring art to BGC’s neighboring communities. The artists will be painting with the children of Taguig on the afternoon of May 16, leaving behind unforgettable memories and a colorful mural.

2015 - A Strong Year for Philippine Real Estate

Wazzup Pilipinas!

The biggest real estate players in the Philippines recently released their respective income reports for the year 2015, and as expected, the overall financial trend is predominantly good for almost all real estate companies. Online real estate portal Lamudi Philippines has listed down and analyzed the performance indicator of the country’s top real estate developers for 2015.

The highest income for 2015 goes to Ayala Land Inc. (ALI) at Php17.6 billion, 19 percent higher from the real estate giant’s 2014 figure of Php14.8 billion. The jump in profit was attributed to ALI’s diverse offering of residential and commercial products, especially its master-planned estates all over the country. ALI also amplified its presence in key growth centers and introduced three new integrated mixed-use estates in 2015. These are the 11-hectare Cloverleaf project in Quezon City, the nine-hectare Capitol Central in Bacolod, and the 700-hectare Vermosa in Cavite. Also highly anticipated is its Arca South project in Taguig and Vertis North in Quezon City. Early this year, the Ayala group has gained control of land-rich Ortigas & Co., along with the Sy (of the SM group) and Ortigas families.

Also coming strong is property giant Megaworld Corp., whose net income soared 10.58 percent from 2014’s Php9.40 billion. The company breached the Php10 billion mark in net core income for 2015, at Php10.40 billion. True to its title as the builder of live-work-play developments in the Philippines, Megaworld launched five integrated townships in 2015, marking a total of 20 integrated township developments across the country. Adding to the company’s success is the exponential growth of their rental business, especially BPO offices, for the last five years. As early as now, Megaworld Chief Finance Officer Francis Canuto shares that they are confident that they will reach the Php11 billion target by end of this year.

MX4D at Vista Cinemas Evia Quadruples the Thrill of Watching Blockbuster Movies

Wazzup Pilipinas!

When Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice premiered March 26, 2016 in the Philippines, long lines of die-hard fans of the Bat of Gotham and the Son of Krypton formed in theaters.

But for many, watching the movie once was not enough. The MX4D experience now available in the Philippines let moviegoers double the fun and excitement of watching the super blockbuster in 4D.

MX4D is a movie-watching experience like no other. Right from the start you are part of the action on-screen when you watch movies like Batman vs. Superman in the new format. From the moment when the Metropolis is being destroyed by aliens, you ride shotgun with Bruce Wayne as he races to save his employees from the oncoming onslaught. Smoke comes out of the screen when the building collapses and debris starts flying everywhere.

You’ll never know what, or when, to expect the next big thing if you’re watching a movie in MX4D. Jolts, turns, gusts of wind and scents are some of the extraordinary things you will experience while watching a movie in the format.

It is highly recommended that you immerse yourself completely in the action and not munch on snacks while the on-screen action is hot. MX4D really literally moves you, and you won’t know what’s going to happen next. The action-filled Batman V Superman showcases the best of what the MX4D experience can offer.

Hontiveros Vows to Champion CCT Law If Elected

Wazzup Pilipinas!

Health advocate and senatorial candidate Risa Hontiveros today committed to file a bill that institutionalizes the Conditional Cash Transfer and expands its budget allocation beyond the current appropriation of more than 60 billion pesos.

“Ang CCT ay isang napakahalagang programa ng gobyerno kontra-kahirapan at kailangan ito ipagpatuloy, pero madami pang mga pwede gawin para ayusin lalo ang programa,” Hontiveros said. “Unahin na siguro natin ang improvement ng health facilities na nagseserbisyo sa ating CCT beneficiaries.”

According to Hontiveros, there are currently more than 4 million Filipinos who are under the 4Ps program, but less than half of all barangays in the Philippines have barangay health centers.

A Historic Day for the MICHELIN Pilot Sport EV

Wazzup Pilipinas!

The inaugural Paris ePrix took place in chilly but dry weather, a first for the MICHELIN Pilot Sport EV and a challenge to which it rose without flinching.

The first Formula E race in the streets of Paris was a moment that the teams had long been waiting for, especially the French teams, of course, and also Michelin, a founding partner of the innovative electric single-seater series.

The 14-turn circuit of almost two kilometres in length formed a loop around the famous Hôtel des Invalides in the French capital’s seventh district and it turned out to be one of the most technically demanding of the championship. Its profile and surface were particularly hard on tyres, while Saturday’s cold weather – which saw the temperature rangefrom 9 to 12°C – prevented them from reachingtheir ideal working temperature as quickly as possible.

Serge Grisin, manager of Michelin’s Formula E programme, didn’t see that as a major problem, however: “Since the beginning of the Formula E Championship, we have come across practically all the types of conditions you can imagine. Our tyres have performed in track temperatures ranging from as lowas 5°C during testing at Donington [Great Britain] and Issoire [France], to as high as 55°C in Putrajaya [Malaysia] and Buenos Aires [Argentina]. The versatility of the MICHELIN Pilot Sport EV, which was designed specifically for Formula E, is unique in the world of single-seater racing.”

There's no more room for only talking. They aim for immediate action because they deserve more than what is given to them.

It's about time they stop becoming slaves to an authority. They are after blood.

Gone are the meek and obedient.

Gifted with extra-ordinary superpowers, this new breed of superheroes is transforming the way we live, work, play, think, and everything else we do in our daily lives.

Mastering The Voice

Wazzup Pilipinas!

The great Abraham Lincoln said, “Give me six hours to chop down a tree, and I will spend the first four hours sharpening the axe.”

Every skill, easy or difficult, can be mastered through TRAINING. Whether you’re an athlete, a performer, painter, movie director… the skills you need to learn in order to be great in your respective field must be learned, rehearsed and applied with discipline and consistency. And voice acting is no different.

Voice artists are the anonymous people whose voice you hear in radio and TV commercials, dubbed films and telenovela, audiobooks, video games, radio drama, corporate videos, e-learning materials, and even in the train stations reminding you to take care of your belongings. Many people have a misconception that anyone who has a “good voice” can become voice artists… but it’s like saying, “you have nice, long legs, you should join Miss Universe!”

Even I had to train and practice in order to develop the many voices I have done for voiceovers, dubbing, commercials, radio drama and many more. I started as a self-taught voice artist, then eventually trained through books, videos, and mentors from the local and international voice acting scene. When I began working as a Voice Director, that’s when I realized that even those who have been in the industry for some time could use some formal training to learn the principles and the vocal mechanism behind voice acting.

That was the main reason I started my company, Creativoices Productions, in 2005. I didn’t build Creativoices just to become another audio production house. I built it in order to establish the very first voice acting school in the country, the Philippine Center for Voice Acting. Since then, I was on a mission to promote voice acting as an art and to professionalize the voice acting industry by honing aspiring voice artists with the knowledge and tools they need to ACT with the their voice. Creativoices became the venue to help our graduates to get their foot in the door of the voice acting world. I am proud to say that 10 years and 36 batches later, our school has produced more than 1,000 graduates, and many of them have built a successful career as voice artists, hosts, broadcasters, and even public speakers.

Alexx Agcaoili
So what happens in our voice acting class?

Voiceworx – our basic voice acting and dubbing workshop – is taught by the best voice directors and voiceover artists in the country – Danny Mandia, Alexx Agcaoili and Neil Tolentino, who are veteran voice artists and dubbing directors in ABS CBN and Hero TV; Brian Ligsay, one of the most sought-after voice artists, events host and voiceover (TRIVIA: he’s the voice behind the safety reminders of LRT Line 2); and me, the VoiceMaster of the Philippines. You can read all about my voice acting credentials at www.voicemaster.me.

With the instructors’ credentials and experience, you already have an idea that you will be learning a lot from the workshop. Our classes are intensive and highly participatory. Students are exposed to real-life radio broadcasting, dubbing and recording sessions.

Another thing worth mentioning is that in Voiceworx, we teach students how to ACT with their voice, and not just alter it. Sure, imitating voices is a nice talent to have, if all you want to do is impress (or annoy) friends and family at a dinner party. But when it comes to being a voice artist, it’s not all about how many characters you can imitate, but how many you can CREATE.

Voiceworx Graduation
I have a vision, and that is to make the Philippines the center of voiceover excellence in Asia. I believe that Filipinos have voice acting prowess that can be competitive in the international market, as we have already proven with clients such as Sega, Itruemart and TAG 91.1 in Dubai. Through Voiceworx, I am confident that this vision has already become a reality.

Energy Sector’s Election Preparation Nears Completion

Wazzup Pilipinas!

The Power Task Force Election (PTFE) 2016, led by the Department of Energy (DOE), is almost done with preparatory works to ensure that power supply is sufficient, stable, and reliable before, during, and after the conduct of national and local elections on 09 May.

“We are nearing completion of preparations to ensure the readiness of the systems and power stakeholders who have roles to play during the Election Day,” said Energy Secretary Zenaida Y. Monsada. She emphasized that the entire Energy Family is in close coordination to provide uninterrupted electricity services as we all desire for a clean and unquestionable holding of elections.

The PTFE met with power generators on April 25 (yesterday) to discuss their work plans and commitments for the critical election period (one week before and one week after), especially that the conduct of scheduled maintenance services of the power plants have been carried out earlier to ensure readiness during the critical period.

As reported in the meeting, all power generators will be running at full capacity during elections except for the 180 megawatts (MW) Kalayaan Unit 4 which extended its maintenance until 14 May 2016. In Mindanao, dispatch of water resource for hydropower plants is being managed to ensure that there will be higher production during the critical period.

Ernest Cu Recognized as Best CEO in the Philippines

Wazzup Pilipinas!

It's a grand time for Globe Telecom as they bag three citations from Finance Asia, a leading publisher of financial news in the Asia Pacific region, and voted Most Committed to Corporate Governance and Best in Investor Relations while Ernest Cu, Globe President & CEO, was recognized as Best CEO in the Philippines

Overall, the company was given two major company awards and an individual category citation. The same citations were awarded to Globe by Finance Asia in 2015.

The citations were based on a survey conducted by Finance Asia involving investors on their views on which listed companies around Asia they consider to be best managed, with the best senior executives. Finance Asia received responses from 129 portfolio managers and buy-side analysts from around the world, running mandates that included, or dedicated to, Asian listed companies.

“It is an honor to receive the various recognitions. It is a testament that we continue to improve our communication lines with our stakeholders, consistent with the company's commitment in providing exemplary results not only in terms of its financial performance but also in subscribing to the principles of good corporate governance and investor relations,” Globe Acting Chief Finance Officer Rizza Maniego-Eala said.

In December last year, Globe also bagged the Bell Awards for Corporate Governance, awarded by the Philippine Stock Exchange, in recognition of the leading telecommunication company’s commitment in upholding the principles and best practices in governance. The award ushered a grand slam win for Globe for practicing good corporate governance, following a similar citation given to the company by the ASEAN Capital Markets Forum (ACMF). Globe was in the Top 3 in corporate governance among listed companies in the Philippines and Top 50 among listed companies in ASEAN region.

Also in 2015, Cu was included in the elite list of Global Telecoms Business Power 100. Cu was the only Filipino executive to make it to the Power 100 and among the top 10 in Asia. The recognition was based on his success in steering the company to hold its own despite intense competitive environment in the telecoms markets in the Philippines.

Globe Telecom posted a remarkable performance in 2015, surpassing its business results in the previous year, as it booked new highs in service revenues, EBITDA and net profit. The company’s impressive performance was driven by broad-based data-driven growth across its key services.

Captain America: Civil War Movie Review

Wazzup Pilipinas!

"I believe in family, & I'll protect them, no matter what."

That's what Captain America is fighting for in the movie so being Bucky as his long-time friend even before he met Tony Stark and the others, I guess he made the choice of protecting the Winter Soldier rather than taking sides with Iron Man.

But teh tiyle Civil War may be to exaggerated because it's merely a war between a small group which escalated just because they caused havoc and chaos within the city.

"I'm sorry Tony you know I wouldn't do this if i had any other choice.... but he's my friend.."

"So was I..."
Will Captain America win against Iron man? Is it because of the fact that the main character should not lose in his own movie? However, there are some movies where the hero loses, for several creative reasons that would make him, or the movie (or the story), look better. But, I wouldn't want to spoil so I will never tell who wins.

But do I really need to spell it out when it's a bit obvious?

But imagine how if Cap loses, though. In his own movie. I like the realism in that idea, and how you know, not everything is so cliché about it, because the main hero might not "live happily ever after", or "save the day".  The marvel cinematic industry is known for its tempering with comic book story lines.
Will Iron Man's side win? In the comics, Cap gets killed and Bucky (The Winter Solider) takes his place as Captain America to honor his fallen friend. But for sure it's not exactly the same as in the comics... that would be too predictable for many! They wont go with the comic book story line because that story line doesn't build up well for Infinity War. The ugly truth is that no one will win.

It is pretty much a given that Cap wins since Chris Evans already set to return in Avenger 3 (and willing to do more movies). Announcing those multi movie deals tends to spoil things a little.

I see this movie as just being a huge build up for Captain America since hes been voted many times as the least favorite Avenger.

By the way, everyone is talking about Captain and Iron Man but can we acknowledge Black Panther's debut!

Also, anyone else see the hint?

Republicans & Democrats? Republicans are Tony stark, Democrats are Captain America...DIVIDED WE FALL. Also the fact that this movie is called "Civil War" goes to show Hollywood entertainment might be foreshadowing America's future, with all the political bull crap happening right now.

Yes, I know this is from a Marvel story line, but has it ever crossed your mind that a lot of these things are written out for the future? I don't see the world getting any better with what's currently happening, I mean Turkey just shot down a Russian fighter jet that was in above Syrian ground.

On a serious note, is this movie be as good as the Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice movie...or should I rephrase that to ..is it as bad as the BvS movie?

I have to say it's beyond comparison as the two movies are entirely different to be compared. Just watch it for yourself and you be the judge.

Ateneo blueREP Proudly Presents Shared Spaces

Wazzup Pilipinas!

As its final installment of the 24th season, blueREP is proud to present an original production, Shared Spaces, a monologue and song-cycle series. Set in a world where grander issues obscure individual experiences, Shared Spaces celebrates and reiterates the experience of the individual.

Six people blur the line between the enormity of contemporary concerns and their intimate circumstances. Through humour, discourse, or tears, they lay out their personal encounters with sexuality, religion, depression, relationships, and more, in pursuit of a representation of present day’s society; a community of individuals, with lives far more intricate than we are led to believe. With music by Kerrigan-Lowdermilk accompanying the written pieces, Shared Spaces aims to establish fresh, member-created productions as a stable part of Ateneo Blue Repertory's repertoire.

The artistic team is composed of current and former blueREP members, combining experience with youth. Bibo Reyes is leading the show as the director, with Sab Jose as co-director. Abi Sulit serves as the musical director, alongside Celine Bengzon, who is working as the assistant musical director. Mica Fajardo is in charge of choreography, with Kyla Frencillo as the assistant choreographer. Set design is being taken care of, once again, by CJ Francisco, while Miggy Panganiban takes charge of lighting design. Ariel Quitangon is the costumes and make-up designer. Wrapping up the artistic team is Lara Antonio, who serves as the writing mentor.
