Ballet Philippines Presents Alice Reyes' Cinderella: All Set to Open on November 28

Wazzup Pilipinas!

Some would say fairy tales like Cinderella were based from real stories. Just like in real life, there would always be a hero, a villain and a damsel in distress. But unlike in real life, fairy tales would normally end in happy endings. From a pauper becoming a prince, to an ordinary town's girl becoming a princess, many are stories ending with a life of grandeur, being rich beyond our wildest dreams, or marrying our true beloved or prince charming.

Fairy tales leaves us hoping for a better tomorrow. That someday our prince will come and will sweep us away into his luxurious castle. That someday we'll find our prince that will wake us from a deep slumber, or will bring us back to life after a poisonous encounter, or will rescue us from our wicked stepmother and stepsisters.

But wait! Fairy tales are not only for the women. Men also dream of meeting the right person who will love them beyond their physical appearance, may they be looking like a beast or a hunchback. Men also look for the right woman who would really love them even though they don't have a genie that can make all their wishes come true. Every man would love to find that woman whose foot would perfectly fit in the glass slipper. The glass slipper being our expectations of the perfect woman.

Indeed, we all love to experience a fairy tale life that ends in a happy ending. The good news is that Ballet Philippines is once again presenting another performance that will literally sweep us off our feet as we follow every move of their dancers who will be performing in Alice Reyes' Cinderella starting with a gala night presentation on November 28, 2014 at 8 pm at the Tanghalang Nicanor Abelardo of the Cultural Center of the Philippines. It will be the closest that we will ever get to a fairy tale.

Uber Now Working with Philippine Government

Wazzup Pilipinas!

With the goal of modernizing land transport systems, the Department of Transportation and Communications (DOTC) and the Land Transportation Franchising & Regulatory Board (LTFRB) had a highly productive meeting with officers of Uber Philippines and Singapore yesterday, in a quest to find ways for rules and regulations to support – rather than stifle – innovations which improve services to the public.

“We will always push for anything that modernizes the country’s transport systems under my watch. Government welcomes tech solutions to transport problems, and fortunately, Uber also wants to work with us to make it happen,” remarked DOTC Secretary Jun Abaya.

“Both sides came to the table to find concrete ways to make government regulations more in tune with today’s technologies. We all agreed on two things: first, Uber’s services are for the people’s benefit; and second, regulation is a must for public safety and order,” he added.

LTFRB Chairman Winston Ginez and Executive Director Roberto Cabrera, who both participated in the meeting, proposed several means by which applicable rules may be updated in order to accommodate similar IT-based solutions within the legal framework.

The Breakfast Club: Your Friendly Neighborhood Restaurant in Quezon City

Wazzup Pilipinas!

Setting up a restaurant within a residential area is quite risky. This is probably why we see most restaurateurs choosing malls and other busy areas as their preferred site for their restaurant business. Though the crowd is indeed massive especially during peak hours of lunch and dinner, the competition among other restaurants is also something significant to be concerned about. But all of these should not be too detrimental if we really believe in our product. Our food should do most of our marketing and let the satisfied customers share the great news about their dining experience.

My first visit at The Breakfast Club was during a meeting with the parents of a young singer who I met during a radio show interview a few days ago. They invited me over for lunch and this dining spot in Quezon City was their choice. Though it was not my first time to hear about The Breakfast Club, I have not tried it out yet. Later, I realize I knew about it from the Kris TV show where I also learned that the co-owner was teen Kapamilya celebrity Erich Gonzales.

I took the initiative to call the attention of the chef for a short interview, or let's just say a friendly chat. She was there at the restaurant doing her regular meet and greet the customers, so I couldn't resists asking her a few questions, and grew more curious when I saw and tasted their Baby Back Ribs that were not only huge, but was definitely so tasty for its very low price.

This led to a return engagement at their restaurant, this time with a friend, since I really need to find out more about their other dishes. Thus, your friendly neighborhood pambansang blogger made a second visit to be able to dine on their other specialties and indulged once again on those amazing Baby Back Ribs.
