Nurture Wellness Village: Going Back to the Basics to Promote Health and Wellness Tourism (Part 2)

Aside from the Gabriela experience that we talked about from our previous blog article, there are a lot of things to do in and around Nurture Wellness Village of Tagaytay. Our one and half hour ride from Metro Manila was all worth the travel time as the beauty and healing properties of the place was extremely rewarding.

Our visit at the enchanting and strikingly soothing place formerly called Nurture Spa, allowed us to experience a more profound self-discovery. It made us look more intimately on our personal totality. There are only a few spots near Manila where you can find a vast array of relaxing eco-friendly amenities located within nature itself.

The esteemed health and wellness destination can be found at Pulong Sagingan at Barangay Maitim II West Tagaytay City and was built by Dr. Mike Turvill, a british national who holds a PhD in Chemistry, and his wife Cathy Turvill, a certified Worksite Wellness Specialist, Health and Wellness Coach and internationally licensed therapist.

Nurture Wellness Village has been widely known for its amazing and high quality spa and wellness services highlighted by their skillful therapists trained by internationally certified trainers and the Amu'in massage oils made from pure therapeutic essential oils formulated by Dr. Mike himself, plus the "ulogs" guest accommodations that are authentic Ifugao heritage huts originally sourced from Banaue built by Igorot natives.

Beyond enjoying the spa treatments and the state-of-the art computerized health monitoring systems, we can also enjoy the healing properties and unspoiled beauty of nature by taking part in many activities designed to promote health and wellness for mind, body and soul.

Walking around Nurture Wellness Village's spacious garden was an opportunity to reconnect with ourselves and awaken our senses to the beauty of nature. To be able to breathe deeply and slowly, without any rush or stress from the busy and hectic life back in the Metro, allowed us to appreciate better the sunshine (or rain), the dapple of light on the trees, the smell of fresh air, the feel of the wind on our faces, and the beauty of the stars at night.

The place is really ideal to enjoy solitude or a chance to communicate with our spouse, partner, friends, colleagues or family. Perfect for company retreats or team-building activities, the serenity that can be found at the place promotes a sincere discovery of each others spirituality. Save a marriage, rebuild a team, reunite bonds with our relatives. It is possible to do all of these with the help of an environment that is truly conducive to healing.

A stay at Nurture Wellness Village also give us a relaxing opportunity to oxygenate and burn calories while having fun at their movement and stretching stations that can be found around the village.The first station is by the wellness clinic and ends above the playground.

Release stress, regain balance and enhance our overall well-being with easy breathing exercise led by the village therapists, or try the reflexology walk by walking barefoot on pebbles of various sizes at the circular spiral located at the edge of the garden. This activity is said to stimulate our internal organs towards healing and better circulation.

For team-building activities, the Tai Qi Gong traditional Chinese exercises done in the garden was designed to improve health and increase energy flow through graceful, repetitive movements. The Eco-theraphy exercise circuit allows teams to go around the garden following the instructions on the "Par Kur" exercise trail.

Don't worry about the accommodations. Nurture Wellness Village offers a variety of accommodations to choose from like airconditioned Deluxe Forest View Rooms, Family Rooms, and of course the Ulogs heritage huts mentioned earlier.

They also have a "glamping" site composed of a few tents equipped with comfortable mattresses, pillows and blankets. Enjoy eating barbecue while gathered around a bonfire with your friends.

By the way, did we mention they also have a pool? Dip into the refreshing water of their leisure pool where we can splash away in fun with our loved ones. The Tan-aw bar is just a stone throw away where you can order vegetarian and non-vegetarian cuisines and drinks.

 

Be able to harvest fresh produce from their delightful organic garden filled with kale, lettuce, parsley, basil, tomatoes, eggplant and other veggies, or savor the aroma and tastes of various healing and culinary herbs at their herbal garden. Picking our own vegetables or herbs is somewhat therapeutic as well. Knowing what we will be eating is entirely fresh and hand-picked makes us appreciate our food better.

We got to bring home some Kale which is a good source of calcium, protein, and iron. It is a good source of vitamin A, D, C, and K. It is an anti-oxidant and anti-cancer vegetable that helps clean the liver. Also included in our loot bag was a sample of tarragon tea which is said to be rich in anti-oxidants and a very rich source of vitamins such as vitamin C,A and B complex plus minerals like calcium, manganese, iron, magnesium, copper, potassium and zinc.

You could also learn the secrets of healthy and delectable concoctions from their talented chef and wellness officers who would share with you how to create hand-crafted formulated drinks like the Cosmo Sour, Basil Lime, Taragon Lemon Drop, Blue Ternate Daiquiri,  and other healthy juices that are friendly for the heart, liver and kidney.

If we want more entertainment, our group of at least 15 people may request for some cultural dance shows that will be performed by the Nurture Wellness Village staff themselves.

Discover traditional Filipino games and leisure activities by playing sungka, patientero, luksong tinik, luksong baka, tumbang preso, trumpo, and a lot more like chess and foosball. The kids will definitely enjoy their playground too.

For those who can't seem to keep themselves away from their emails and social media network of friends, they have WiFi access as well. Though it's not really advisable since the aim is to refresh ourselves by staying away from our daily routine and form new healthy habits towards a healthier way of living.
