Goods.Ph Works Hand-In-Hand with the Philippine National Red Cross To Help Victics of Typhoon Yolanda / Haiyan

Wazzup Pilipinas!

Misery and desperation are deeply etched on the faces of the millions of victims of super typhoon Yolanda, not knowing where to get their next meal or how to rebuild their broken homes and lives and how to cope with the loss of their loved ones.

Chaos is widespread as the citizenry have nowhere to go for basic services: there is no electricity, no water services, no communications and worse no local government service to speak of. The typhoon victims have to literally fend for themselves.

Goods.ph in partnership with the Philippine National Red Cross, is undertaking a charitable cause that offers RELIEF GOODS PACKAGE for the typhoon victims that one can avail for donation purposes. We are encouraging our customers to avail our special RELIEF GOODS PACKAGE from our site to enable them to donate to the typhoon victims online.

Philippines Receives Support from International Tourism Bodies

Wazzup Pilipinas!

The Department of Tourism (DOT) expresses its sincere appreciation to the outpouring of messages and support from partners in the international travel community such as the United Nations World Tourism Organization (UNWTO), Pacific Asia Travel Association (PATA), and World Travel and Tourism Council (WTTC) for the Filipino people affected by the recent Super Typhoon Yolanda (international name: Haiyan).

In a press release posted on their website, UNWTO expressed readiness to support the Philippines in any tourism-related recovery program for the affected areas and called for support by contributing to the ongoing relief efforts of the various United Nations (UN) agencies operating on the ground. The UNWTO, as the leading international organization in the field of tourism, is the UN agency responsible for the promotion of responsible, sustainable, and universally accessible tourism.

“UNWTO is confident that despite this tragic occurrence, the tourism sector in the Philippines will continue to strive and make a key contribution to the development of the country”, UNWTO Secretary-General Taleb Rifai said.

Global Humanitarian Group in New York Picks Filipino Ambassador to Help Typhoon Yolanda Victims

Wazzup Pilipinas!

Top-ranked speaker and master trainer, Boris Joaquin was recently appointed the Philippine Ambassador for the Private Sector by the Metro World Child Foundation based in Brooklyn New York, USA. Metro World Child is a global faith-based, humanitarian organization serving nearly 100,000 children each week with after school programs, Sunday School services, child sponsorship, special programs and personal home visits.

In 2001, Metro World Child began a work in Manila, Philippines. The goal was to reach children and families who were living in situations that were in most cases, beyond their control. Metro World Child went to some of the most needy areas such as Smokey Mountain, Tondo, Navotas, and other impoverished locations throughout the Philippines. Over a decade later, we now reach 20,000 children and their families on a weekly basis here in the Philippines alone. Metro World Child has grown to include other nations such as South Africa, Kenya, Romania, and India, and combined, now reach over 100,000 children around the world.

Joaquin is delighted by this new appointed following his stints with World Vision and involvements with HOPE Foundation, Scholars for Jesus, World Teach and Bible League, his role to help connect Metro World Child’s programs for the street children with right partners and corporate donors. “This is timely…” Joaquin quips, “…After Typhoon Yolanda, children lost their families, families grieved for their children. Despite this, however, we still believe that there is something that even the strongest storm cannot take away from them.”

DOTC Automatic Fare Collection System Expected to Net the Most Number of Bidders

Wazzup Pilipinas!

With the coming bid submission deadline for the P1.72 Billion Automatic Fare Collection System (AFCS) project on Monday, 18 November 2013, the Department of Transportation and Communications (DOTC) expects to net the most number of bidders under the administration’s Public-Private Partnership (PPP) program so far.

“With only a few days to go before bid submission, our sense is that all five prequalified groups are still very much in the running,” said DOTC spokesperson Migs Sagcal.

“From what we understand, if all groups submit on Monday, this could be the highest number of bidders for a PPP project so far. That would mean more competitive bids, and it would show how well the project terms have been packaged,” Sagcal added.

Celebrity Families To Be Awarded At The Baby & Family Expo 2013

Wazzup Pilipinas!

The biggest family event of the year, Baby & Family Expo Philippines 2013, happening on December 06-08, 2013 at SMX Convention Center Manila, Mall of Asia Complex, will be recognizing celebrity families, parents and kids who have been a great inspiration and role model to Filipino families in the first ever Golden Family Awards. The awarding ceremony is scheduled on Saturday, December 7, 2013, 6pm.

The Golden Family of the Year will be awarded to celebrity parents Judy Ann Santos and Ryan Agoncillo and to daughter Johanna “Yohan Lois" and son Juan Luis "Lucho." Their on-screen love team developed to an off-camera relationship.

Four years after, wedding bells were finally heard. Despite rumors, their relationship stayed strong. Aside from their successful showbiz career, Judy Ann and Ryan still managed to be hands-on parents. When it comes to enforcing discipline to their kids, they prefer to handle it on a case-to-case basis instead of imposing cardinal rules. Both parents are open to possibilities of their kids entering showbiz as Yohan and Lucho are showing signs already.

"Mulan" Set to Open on November 20

Wazzup Pilipinas!

The story of Mulan, a popular Chinese heroine, comes from an old Chinese folktale entitled “The Ballad of Mulan”. Originally a poem – Hua Mulan’s story has been adapted into a number of different versions over the years.

As a pre-X’mas offering to all schools, parents and children, Kids Acts Philippines proudly presents “ MULAN ” with script and lyrics by LUIGI NACARIO and music by EUGENE BELBIS.

Fearless and determined, Mulan’s story starts out as China is facing the threat of the Huns. The Emperor seeks out the help of the men of different families to fight in battle. Former military man and Mulan’s father is among those chosen. Too old and sick to participate but also too honourable to walk away from the duty. Mulan’s father and his family are faced with the dilemna of being unable to send someone in his place. Without a male member who is old enough to fight, Mulan steps forward to serve in the army in his place.

The Time is Now to Usher In the Age Of Health Informatics In The Country

Wazzup Pilipinas!

There used to be a time when information technology and health science, or medicine, were two distinct disciplines. In recent years however, particular interest has been given to human-computer interaction, the Internet, software and programs, wireless and mobile communications, the manner people process information and new IT solutions including the cloud, are leading to advancements in both fields making them intersect and converge — bringing to fore the focus on health informatics.

The World Health Organization defines health informatics as “an umbrella term used to encompass the rapidly-evolving discipline of using computing, networking and communications – methodologies and technologies – to support the health-related fields.” In medical circles, it is also known as clinical informatics, medical informatics or biomedical informatics.

Those specializing in this field further dissect it as the appropriate and innovative application of the concepts and technologies of the information age to improve health care and health as a whole. It also gave rise to the context of “e-health,” which is related to the collection, analysis and movement of health information and data to support health care.

Re-post. Help. Donate. Share. Now. For Typhoon Yolanda Victims.

Wazzup Pilipinas!

Re-post. Help. Donate. Share. Now. For Typhoon Yolanda Victims.

To everyone who is actively participating in packing relief goods to be sent to the EXTREMELY DEVASTATED areas like LEYTE and such, please note the following:

1.) DO NOT PACK NOODLES, RICE OR ANYTHING THAT NEEDS WATER. There is no water and electricity so it is impossible to cook this kind of food. Stick to bread, canned goods that are ready-to-eat and can be opened WITHOUT THE NEED FOR A CAN OPENER.

2.) PACK MEDICINE - most especially basic medicine (biogesic, bioflu, robitussin etc). Also if possible, include medicine for surface wounds as many have been wounded because of the debris and fallen rooftops.

3.) PACK AT LEAST ONE BOTTLE OF WATER - People are raging for water (some have even become violent just for water). There is no source of water at all in any part of Tacloban.

4.) PACK CANDLES AND MATCHES - there will be no electricity for a minimum of two months so all people will need these.

5.) ENCOURAGE YOUR RESPECTIVE GROUP/ORGANIZATION TO DONATE BODY BAGS - Bodies are lying around the roads within the city and some of the places have already been filled up with bodies.

Rants Versus Rants : The Latest Craze That Surpassed the Popularity of Plants Versus Zombies

Wazzup Pilipinas!
"I keep telling myself "Don't let anybody tell you that you're doing things all wrong when you know that things are doing great for you. If you listened to the others telling you to hold back and keep a low profile, you wouldn't be enjoying the perks and benefits right now."

Yeah, there may be some hiccups along the way but that's normal for a struggling noobie whose adventure along unpredictable paths has just began. One thing for sure is that I'm headed to only one direction and on my way to a brighter future - and nobody can stop me no matter how hard they try!!!"

Ironically, those who are saying that it is not a good trait to rant online are the ones who also rant against fellow bloggers. They don't even have the guts to identify themselves and hiding behind an "Anonymous" identity.  We are not asking them to side with a fellow blogger, We are asking them to hear us out first before coming up with conclusions.

Wazzup Pilipinas was ranting against an establishment that tried to go cheap-O with bloggers, but there's this group of bloggers that are now ranting against Wazzup Pilipinas, and also trying to humiliate the bloggers associated with the blog or community. We must announce that the bloggers invited to the event had no knowledge of any of the arrangement between Wazzup Pilipinas and the owners of the establishment. These bloggers should not be dragged along with the issue.

Wazzup Pilipinas!

Libreng Tawag in 3 sites in Iloilo now up

Globe Telecom was able to reconnect the province of Tacloban with the rest of the world with 1 cellsite serving critical communication requirements of the local government units and agencies involved in disaster response and coordination efforts. Globe said that restoration efforts are being accelerated in the Visayas region with the assistance of government units like the Phil. Air Force and the Phil. Navy who lent assistance in providing transport requirements for heavy network equipment that are being airlifted or shipped to critical sites including Tacloban.

Around 26 sites from Calbayog, Samar to northern Samar have also been repaired and brought back to operations. Of the total sites affected including those in southern Luzon and Mindanao, 471 sites, or 30% of total affected sites have already been restored. World Pneumonia Day by the Department of Health

Wazzup Pilipinas!

Pneumonia is indeed a deadly serious disease that has claimed the lives of many individuals, especially children. With their weak immune system and frail bodies, they become easily susceptible to the disease.

Penumonia has become the number 1 killer of children under the age of five - even  claimed more lives than AIDS, tubercolosis, and malaria combined.

They say that many of these children do not even reach the age of five or their 5th birthday.

It is so sad that pneumonia is preventable yet many still die form the disease.

We were invited to join the movement against Pneumonia at the World Pneumonia Day event held at the Summit Ridge hotel in Tagaytay city.

Enjoy Christmas Shopping Minus The Rush at Tutuban Center

Wazzup Pilipinas!

Funny that as early as August, Christmas tunes already occupy significant airtime among radio stations—perhaps even on TV—that signal the start of arguably the world’s longest Christmas celebration.

The spirit of giving also comes into its full vitality as gift lists are already written, and you’ll know it’s the “ber-months” once hordes of bargain hunters pack the metro’s shopping centers just to buy them.

Giving something unique for Christmas has always been everyone’s dilemma. While most people run out of ideas, they sometimes resort to buying the same items in bulk just to have gifts to give away. But that can be avoided through early foresight and careful planning to avoid the chaotic Christmas shopping rush.
