A Fun-filled “Happy Bread Day” 2012 Courtesy of Gardenia

More than 30,000 years ago since it was first made, bread has become a global food staple enjoyed by millions of people regardless of nationality, religion, political belief, or socio-economic status.

For several generations, bread was, is, and will always be, a vital part of humans’ physical (nutritional) and emotional sustenance, and this fact encouraged bread lovers all over the world to celebrate this via the “World Bread Day,” a global and significant event every October 16 that espouses the philosophy of “sharing” and “breaking” of bread as a meaningful and symbolic humanitarian act.

Acer Aspire S5 : The Thinnest Ultrabook

Tekkie Tekkie Muna (Aside from the tablets, phablets and smartphone, undeniably mas maraming pakinabang pa rin ang mga laptops), if you are like me who perfers functionality rather than just portability, I would settle for the thinnest and lightest laptop which could allow me to do more tasks rather than a small portable gadget that limits my work. So what do I do, I choose an Ultrabook instead.

The Acer Aspire S5, considered as the world’s thinnest Ultrabook and really looks as beautiful as expected — plus it performs like no one could ever have imagined.  This Ultrabook has a spectacular design feature and an advanced technological breakthrough. It marks a great leap forward for users who are looking for a computing device that, quite simply, is a cut above the rest.

The new Ultrabook, which starred at the recent International Consumer Electronics Show 2012 in Las Vegas, packs a stunning set of performance features in its razor-thin frame. It combines the power of a third-generation Intel Core processor, the lightning-fast responsiveness of Acer Green Instant On, the smart performance of the new MagicFlip I/O port panel, and the seamless connectivity of the Acer Always Connect.

Strong-as-steel design, lightning-fast performance

Only 11 mm thin and 1.3 kg light, the Aspire S5 represents a new experience in mobile computing—one that unfolds anywhere at any time, on demand and on the go. It also sets new trends in the way laptops should look and feel. The Ultrabook’s gorgeous aluminum/magnesium alloy chassis showcases not only Acer’s attention to detail, but also its dedication to creating strong-as-steel, distinctly styled machinery. Fluid curves, exquisite detailing, and multiple aluminum textures give the Aspire S5′s slender form factor a touch of elegance; the aerodynamics-inspired design elements and onyx-black clamshell shape, meanwhile, contribute to the notebook’s extra seamless feel and enhanced thermal efficiency.

The Acer Aspire S5, which made its debut as the world’s thinnest Ultrabook, utilizes every millimeter to unify its multiple innovations in hardware. This begins with a dazzling 13.3-inch LED-backlit screen, which boasts of high-definition 1366 by 768 resolution (16:9 aspect ratio) and savvily integrates itself with the Aspire S5′s protective frame, thus cutting bezel thickness by approximately a third.

To match the screen’s eye-catching visuals, the Aspire S5 comes with the professionally-tuned Dolby Home Theater v4 audio suite, which applies surround sound and dialogue enhancement technologies for a cinematic listening experience. Under the notebook’s multi-gesture touchpad and chiclet keyboard, meanwhile, is a high-density (yet lightweight) lithium-polymer battery, custom-shaped to fit the chassis and engineered to last up to 6.5 hours on a single charge.

Also built in is the brilliant MagicFlip I/O port panel, concealed just below the hinge, which—with one press of the MagicFlip key—activates a selection of data ports that includes HDMI (with HDCP support), SuperSpeed USB 3.0 (with 10 times the data transfer speeds of the previous-generation USB 2.0), and the ultra-fast Thunderbolt I/O. A first in Acer’s series of Ultrabooks, the MagicFlip I/O port panel offers unprecedented expansion possibilities—enabling users to transfer, say, a full HD movie in less than 30 seconds, or back up more than 8,000 hours of music in just a little over 10 minutes.

Extremely agile and always connected

Apart from being extremely fast, the Aspire S5 is also extremely agile: another hallmark property of what is set to become the ultimate everyday notebook. Thanks to the computing power of a third-generation Intel Core processor, integrated Intel HD Graphics 4000 (with support for Microsoft DirectX 11), and 128GB of RAID 0r SSD storage, the Ultrabook handles everything—from the simplest daily tasks to the most data-intensive applications—with incredible speed and ease.

With the Aspire S5, users can create and edit documents 3.97 times faster, open and view files 5.29 times faster, and edit videos 2.57 times faster. Acer’s Green Instant On technology, meanwhile, allows the computer to resume from sleep in less than 1.5 seconds, as well as restore data and remain on standby for up to 80 days without restarting, shutting down, or charging.

The Ultrabook is also equipped with the Acer Always Connect feature, which is designed to deliver Internet connectivity speed of up to 4 times faster than that of traditional notebook computers, while automatically updating Web-based applications like Internet Explorer and Microsoft Outlook. Just to make sure that the Aspire S5 doesn’t end up in the wrong hands, a security and protection tool called Acer Theft Shield sends a message and sounds off an alarm whenever an unidentified person attempts to move the notebook.

Pimple or Acne Problem? There's Proactiv for You!

Had my share of pimple problem not only on my face but also on my body mostly on the shoulders, upper back and even some on the upper chest. The experience is worsen if the pimples get irritated by impulse scratching or grows bigger than the usual size because of too much accumulated oil especially on the face.

Smoke and dirt pollution adds to the irritation that makes it harder for me to control the itch. It's really too difficult to control myself from scratching.

So how do we take care of our pimple problems?

Bloggers Make-Over Party?

Well, its actually not really a blogger's make-over party to begin with.....but it turned out to be something like that in the end.

We were all suppose to be covering an event for Ystilo Salon, but everyone got so excited trying out the services of the salon. So, after getting a few pics of the winners of Ystilo's Get Ystylized to win a Beauty Makeover,  everyone started having their own make-overs as well.

We were impressed with the before and after appearances of the winners that we decided to try it out ourselves.

Does Formatting a SSD Shorten its Lifespan?

Tekkie Tekkie Muna (Stop whatever it is you’re doing right now, lalo na kung nag-rereformat ka ng iyong PC na SSD and drive), did you know that there are concerns that reformatting may reduce the lifespan an SSD?

I dont think reformating will hurt the performance and it does not shorten the SSD's lifespan unless you are doing FULL format which is Bad for your SSD's lifespan.

Try Secure Erase on them. It would refresh them back like  brand new, though others claim there is no significant difference in performance.

I found this link on a website indicated below. Do check it out if reliable.

I would like to perform a format on my SSD. I've read several files on shortening the SSD's lifespan, but never read anything about formatting.
I was wondering whether formats on a SSD shorten its lifespan?

In general, formatting a solid-state drive will not impact its lifetime, unless you perform a full format - and even then, it depends how often. Most formatting utilities allow you to do a quick or full format. The quick format just overwrites the partition and file tables, but does not actually physically delete anything off of the disk.
In contrast, a full format will go through each sector on a disk and "reset" it. This can degrade the lifetime of the SSD. That being said, MLC solid state drives have a write limit of around 10,000 before the sectors begin to fail.
So long as you don't do it often, (fully) formatting the drive a few times won't seriously impact on the drive lifespan.

Election in America : First Time to Vote Here

Ladies and Gentlemen......a month from now....Americans will vote and we will make a big decision on our future...and most especially on our children's future.

Here are some more for those who want truth and not spin.

Bottom line - Over the last 4 years, minorities are being hurt, household income is lower, citizens are out of work longer and we are all a little bit poorer. Is this the change you voted for? I'm praying for this nation will be great again.

God bless the USA!
