The Killing of Randy Echanis Only Proves That The Filipinos Are #NotSafeAtHome

Wazzup Pilipinas!

I'm in a bad place. Not mentally. I just live in the Philippines where injustice killings of activists in their own homes are happening.

“Throughout his life, peasant leader and activist Randall Echanis had fought against injustice and inequality, espousing the causes of the oppressed and underserved.”
On Monday August 10, he was brutally murdered in his home.

Echanis, 72, was killed early morning Monday, August 10, inside his home in Quezon City. His body bore torture marks and multiple stab and gunshot wounds. They also killed a neighbor who came to check.

He had had already been identified by his widow and transferred to the family's funeral home of choice but QCPD policemen forcibly took his body away and have refused to release it.

We condemn the brutal killing of Ka Randy Echanis. The police of this savage regime is merciless in terrorizing and silencing the people, even in death. We condemn the dictatorial tactics that make us not safe at home.

To serve and protect the interests of a heartless tyrant who will openly sell us to China and leave the Philippine people to the dogs. ayan ang PNP ngayon

We only have Duterte and his fascist game to blame for the continuous carnage and crackdown against activists & civil society groups in the Philippines.

The murder of Ka Randy is a reminder to all of us that we are #NotSafeAtHome. We can't just stand idly by as this fascist government continues to take lives.

As we keep our silence over these blatant injustices, we become complicit to the crimes and abuses of the government. Demand justice for all those slained under the twisted motives of this self-righteous government!

If what you see makes you angry, use that anger to amplify the cries for help and justice of the people. Be part of the solution to rid the country of the injustices and atrocities perpetrated by the state.

Fight back against the state's atrocities. Use your voice to demand justice. Use your voice for the nation.

The world is saying #StayAtHome but the people in the Philippines are not #notsafeathome. Injustice killings of activists inside their homes are still happening. My people just have nowhere else to go to be safe. This perspective shall be known by other people.

For the lucky few, your safe home is a privilege to many during this pandemic. Even without pandemic, you are privileged to be in safety. But majority are in fear that anytime some will break down the door and kill you in your own home.

We need a healthier environment, we demand a better governance, we deserve better than everyday bullshits of fascism.

There is a great need to defend human rights, especially when the violators will do anything in their power to mislead the public.

This government is desperate to suppress dissent through intensified police and military presence which resulted to grave mass arrests and killings. It seems the government is afraid of the growing mass resistance against this fascist regime.

These blatant injustices and human rights violations, done by the government, only amplify the rage of the filipino people, driving us even more to put an end to this tyranny.

We can't simply turn a blind eye to the atrocities that keep on happening even in the midst of a PANDEMIC.

SAM Copes Up with the Covid-19 Pandemic

Wazzup Pilipinas!

Needless to say, this pandemic has brought so many challenges for all of us. Many have lost their jobs and certain businesses had to close down due to the quarantine health and safety protocols restricting face-to-face movements and crowded gatherings. Mobility has been limited due to unavailability of public transportation, and with the recent return to a stricter form of community quarantine, only the ones with their own vehicles could easily travel from one location to the next.

But while others grope in the dark looking for financial sources during this time of Covid-19 pandemic, it is surprising that Smart Asset Managers’ (SAM) subscribers are still enjoying financial rewards.

How did SAM founder, Rommel Santos have learned to cope up with the global virus? They say they could hardly feel the financial impact of the health disease in terms of subscription. So what makes this earning opportunity so exceptional? SAM seems to have prepared for this global outbreak.

Regardless whether there is Covid-19 or otherwise, the rewards received by subscribers are pumped in daily in their respective wallets or accounts, Santos explained. “This only means that Covid-19 cannot stop us in doing what we are doing now,” Santos said.

The only hindrance to further boost this in the country is the ongoing Modified Enhanced Community Quarantine (MECQ) that has delayed their compliance with some government amenabilities in the Philippines. They need to get that done first before SAM can “fully” operate in the country.

Meanwhile, the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) has released the certificate for SAM Asset Managers Project Developments (SAMPD) last Friday, July 31, making the operation in this aspect, legal. Other pending licenses and registration for conventional businesses are for SAM Remittance, SAM Ride, SAM Delivery, among others.

“We do not want to invest. We don’t want to be part of the businesses. We only want to leverage in these businesses,” Santos said in reference to the subscription placed by people who believe in the DDK (Dinar Dirham Koin – SAM’s preferred crypto currency) financial technology or fintech.

Also, when people become more aggressive in inviting additional subscribers, the creation of more projects under SAMPD will be fast-tracked as well and “a lot of these projects can be leveraged effectively.” “Then you can help a lot of people enjoy their wealth with DDK,” the SAM founder explained.

Santos is calling on all subscribers to spend their incentives from SAM in order to help the Philippine government. “Where else in the world can you find an opportunity to spend free money to earn free money?”

Do you want more good news? Well, SAM is coming out soon with new apps that will be an improvement of their old apps.

Brandon Vera Excited With Possibility of Facing ‘Monster’ Buchecha in the ONE Circle

Wazzup Pilipinas!

Filipino-American ONE Heavyweight World Champion Brandon “The Truth” Vera is spending much needed quality time with his wife Jessica and newborn Atreyu Timothy in Guam amid the pandemic. But ONE Championship’s recent bolster of its heavyweight division has the reigning king enthusiastic about a handful of potential matchups.

One such matchup could possibly come against a recent signing. The promotion announced last week that it had added grappling legend Marcus “Buchecha” Almeida to its ranks. The Brazilian superstar is one of the most prolific Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu competitors in the world and is widely considered a demigod in the grappling circles.

After hearing the news of Almeida’s signing, Vera says he felt extra motivated to get right to work.

“So I had to look up the proper name, because I only know that monster as Buchecha. He is a phenomenal athlete. I am very lucky to have the opportunity to possibly meet him in the ONE Circle,” said Vera.

“And it’s not just him. ONE signed a plethora of amazingly talented heavyweights. I’m going to train right now!”

One look at Almeida’s grocery list of achievements on the mats can make anyone starstruck. The amount of gold medals and world championship he's won is blinding.

Almeida has 128 victories and only 13 losses in his grappling career, and now, he’s making the shift to the Circle which has fans from both the grappling and mixed martial arts worlds excited.

Vera knows exactly the type of ‘monster’ he could be up against should he meet Almeida in the Circle. “The Truth” is all praises for “Buchecha.”

“I am very familiar with his grappling accolades. He has beaten the best in the world and at any given moment, at any weight, he is one of the top two grapplers in the world against anyone. I am very excited he is making the transition to MMA,” said Vera.

“I think it is the correct progression after you win 13 World Titles in grappling. There is no one else for you to beat there. Looking forward to watching him and maybe even competing against him.”

Vera has held the ONE Heavyweight World Title since 2015, when he captured the inaugural belt with a knockout victory over Paul Cheng. Since then, Vera has defended the title successfully on two occasions, via first-round finishes over Hideki Sekine and Mauro Cerilli.

After a failed bid at light heavyweight against Aung La N Sang, Vera is excited to get back in the Circle and continue his reign of dominance in his natural weight class.

With the possibility of facing “Buchecha” down the line, Vera is confident his jiu-jitsu can hang with the world’s best, and that his overall skills will guide him through if he works hard enough.

“It’s a very welcome challenge. My grappling and jiu-jitsu lineage is full of schools of hard knocks -- from Master Lloyd Irvin, to Dean Lister, to Andre Galvao, my catch-wrestling coach Neil Melanson, and everyone in between. I’m very confident in my jiu-jitsu capabilities,” said Vera.

Though nothing has been finalized as of the moment, the Filipino-American is expected to make his next title defense against India’s Arjan Bhullar, another worthy name in the mix. That bout could come later this year, or in early 2021.

One thing is certain, ONE Championship’s heavyweight division is looking very deep right now, and Vera suddenly has a myriad of tough matchups he could possibly face in the Circle. At this stage in his career, Vera is rejuvenated.

Like always, the 42-year-old veteran is up for the toughest challenges.

“The level of competition has just increased exponentially. ONE Championship is making a very comfortable home for the big boys and giving me a lot of work to do. I’m looking forward to all of it,” said Vera.
