DOE Seeks More Power Investments in Mindanao

Wazzup Pilipinas!

INVESTMENT DIALOGUE: Participants of the Department of Energy's (DOE) investment forum aired their questions about the regulatory processes, policies, financing and benefits, among other concerns about energy projects in Mindanao. The open forum panel was composed of DOE USec. Felix William Fuentebella, DOE Asec. Redentor Delola, Mindanao Development Authority ASec. Romeo M. Montenegro, Philippine Electricity Market Corporation's  Clares Loren C. Jalocon, National Grid Corporation of the Philippines' Fernando S. Javier, Department of Environment and Natural Resources Director Metodio U. Turbella, Banco De Oro's Joseph Rhoderick B. Lledo and Alsons Energy Development Corporation's Joseph C. Nocos.  Spearheaded by the DOE-Investment Promotion Office, the Mindanao Energy Investment Forum was held in Davao City on Thursday (11 October) to present business opportunities and parameters in dealing with national and local government regarding the industry.

In line with the Department of Energy’s (DOE) goal to promote robust energy development in Mindanao, its Investment Promotion Office conducted the Mindanao Energy Investment Forum (MEIF) on 11 October at the Grand Regal Hotel in Davao City.

The forum provided stakeholders with updates on energy investment opportunities in the region and facilitated discussions on industry best practices.

“A reliable, sufficient and affordable power supply all throughout the country is achieved through the formulation of more cohesive and responsive energy plans and programs. Vital to this endeavor is the partnership with our energy companies who have committed to put up their power plants on time and ensure continuous operation,” Secretary Alfonso G. Cusi said in his keynote address, which was delivered by Undersecretary Felix William B. Fuentebella.

Sec. Cusi also emphasized the importance of bringing in more investors into Mindanao given its projected additional capacity requirement of 10,200 megawatts by 2040.

Current projects and initiatives already in the pipeline for the region include the interconnection of the Visayas-Mindanao grids and the implementation of the Wholesale Electricity Spot Market.

The conference also tackled new investment policies, such as Executive Order 30 and the Ease of Doing Business Law, which streamlined regulatory procedures to ensure the faster realization of energy projects.

Anchored on the agency’s E-Power Mo campaign, the MEIF aims to strengthen the E-Secure principle on ensuring quality, reliable, resilient, and affordable energy services across the country. Engaging stakeholders in active dialogue would pave the way for proactive and harmonized planning, as well as proper energy project development operations.

“We all have a significant role to play in the energy industry – investors or energy developers, national and local government agencies, financing facilities including us - the consumers, in order for us to move forward as a one nation," Sec. Cusi concluded.

PHLPost Releases Christmas Mail Schedule

Wazzup Pilipinas!

To avoid the influx of mails and parcels this Christmas season, the Philippine Postal Corporation (PHLPost) released the dates by which Express Mail Service (EMS) items, air and surface mails/parcels should be posted to reach the countries of destination.

Postmaster General Joel L. Otarra advises the public especially the Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) to send their mails and parcels before the prescribed dates to guarantee the arrival of their items in time for the holiday season.

As a guide to senders, PHLPost issued a Christmas mail schedule for its Domestic and International Express, Registered and Ordinary Mails, and parcels where clients should send not later than the specified date to ensure that mails and parcels will reach its destination before Christmas day (December 25) and New Year (January 1).

Holiday-related Domestic Express mails (DEMS) should be sent not later than December 12 (Wednesday), and December 10 (Monday) for International Express Mails (IEMS). Domestic Registered Mails should be posted before December 3 (Monday), while International Registered Mails not later than November 26 (Monday).

Meanwhile, Domestic Ordinary Mails should be sent on or before December 5 (Wednesday), International Ordinary (Air) mails not later than December 3 (Monday) and for International surface (Sea) mails not later than October 17 (Wednesday).

The deadline for Domestic Parcels is set on December 3 (Monday), November 28 (Wednesday) for International Air Parcels, and International ordinary surface (Sea) parcels not later than October 15 (Monday).

Post Offices all over the country are open Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, except holidays.

Delectable Videos (Creating Engaging Videos for Your Business)

Wazzup Pilipinas!

I'm now more into taking videos than writing since it I believe it gives more depth to a story. To be able to personally see an event coverage, or highlight a special feature like a hotel or food review, videos may do the trick better than just words or photos. There's also very little need to rephrase a lengthy speech or give a summary of what transpired. I could just let the viewers watch and let them interpret on their own, while just putting an overview or description of what they are watching.

However, just like food or a destination, we do need to spice up our videos by making it more engaging, thus editing is needed, and of course, they need to be informative and interesting enough so people will stick around watching until the end.

The challenge is to engage our followers so videos are among the content that could attract their curiosity, especially for those who do not like to read.

The aim is to make our videos delectable enough for consumption and should leave the viewers wanting more.

Thus, I'm attending the Delectable Videos (Creating Engaging Videos for Your Business) workshop on October 20, 2018 from 8:00 am to 12:00 pm.

Lamudi's New Lead Management Tool Aims to Increase Broker Productivity

Wazzup Pilipinas!

Lamudi’s Lead Management Tool will help you complete your sales activities, view your communication history and see detailed property and contact records all in one place so you can manage your leads more efficiently.
In today’s rapid digitalization, lead management is crucial in driving any business’ sales, marketing, and customer relationship management (CRM) success. This is especially true in the highly competitive real estate industry.
And as one of the leading innovators of the Philippine real estate sector, Lamudi understands that as consumer demands grow, the technology has to keep up. The company remains true to that commitment with the launch of their newest feature: the Lead Management Tool.
This tool is designed to help property sellers manage their listings, follow up leads, and generate more new business efficiently. As a lead management system, the tool boasts of supportive features with easy-to-understand dashboards and integrations that enable sellers to track their leads and optimize their sales pipeline.
From customer support to sales, marketing, and inventory management, this tool empowers sellers with an efficient product management solution.

Visualize and track sales opportunities with Lead Tagging
The Lead Management Tool’s Lead Tagging feature offers prospect tracking, where the seller can view prospective buyers who visited their listing and expressed interest. It incorporates lead intelligence collection which helps them discover leads through form submissions and client interactions.
Lead Tagging also helps sellers organize their leads depending on the buyers’ interests and willingness to convert. Sellers can set statuses on their leads to determine which leads are promising, unresponsive, or need follow-up.
Manage client communications with Messaging
What’s great about Lamudi’s Lead Management tool is its ability to record and update the seller’s communication history with prospective buyers through its messaging feature. This enables sellers to manage their relationships with their leads and attend to their inquiries promptly, taking advantage of a powerful automated closed-loop reporting system.
The Messaging feature has Call, Email, and SMS options available at the bottom of each lead section box. The user can view messages exchanged with the lead for all properties they’re interested in. Specific message details such as the sender information, as well as date and time the message was sent, can also be readily viewed.

Nurture lead generation with Lead Profiling
Usually, leads aren’t immediate sales the moment they are generated. Most leads may take time to nurture. With Lead Profiling, the seller can foster such leads and build relationships with prospective clients, eventually increasing its potential for complete sales. With regular, personalized and customer-specific information and conversations, long-term leads will prove more valuable than short-term ones.
Lead Profiles can be edited and updated anytime. They will help sellers remember and log significant information including the lead’s status, client interest, location interest, rooms and price preferences. They can also add a special comment section where sellers can include additional notes or remarks about specific leads. Lead profiling allows sellers to track their target market’s preferences and consumer behavior.
Close more property deals with less effort with Filtration
By using the Lead Management Tool’s Filtration feature, the seller can optimize their sales process with minimal effort by tracking, organizing and improving the user’s sales pipeline.
They can easily filter only the most qualified leads to help them save time and resources. Furthermore, the tool empowers sellers to improve their marketing initiatives by tracking and studying campaigns that yield the highest-quality leads. It also enables sellers to filter leads based on the status of a property listing. This helps sellers target leads that need to be followed up. To maximize time, sellers can also use filters simultaneously with a search value.
With the proper use of Lamudi’s Lead Management Tool, sellers can easily manage, optimize, and effectively market for sale properties without the inconvenience of complex digital processes. See other Asian property info here at Park Riviera SG and Park 51 Residency MY.

E-Power Mo Goes to Iloilo

Wazzup Pilipinas!

EMPOWERED ILONGGOS: Department of Energy (DOE) Undersrcretary Felix William B.  Fuentebella together with conference presenters from the DOE and Department of Finance answered queries from the participants and took note of the various suggestions raised. The E-Power Mo Forum encourages informed discourses to bridge the gap and address public concerns through responsive energy policies and programs.

The Department of Energy (DOE), in its continuing campaign to promote public awareness on energy conservation and renewable energy sources, brought the E-Power Mo Conference to Iloilo City on 9 October at the Grand Xing Imperial Hotel.

The forum – which was opened by Iloilo II Electric Cooperative, Inc. Legal Officer Dennis Ventilacion and DOE-Visayas Field Office representative Engineer Jose Rey Maleza – shared with the participants the pressing issues in the sector.

Among those discussed at the conference with the theme, “Empowering Filipinos Through Informed Energy Plans and Policies” were the national energy plans, the tax reform program affecting petroleum products and the nuclear policy.

In his keynote speech delivered by DOE Undersecretary Felix William B. Fuentebella, Energy Secretary Alfonso G. Cusi stressed that the agency is continuously crafting proactive policies that effectively respond to industry and consumer needs.

“An informed Filipino is an empowered Filipino. This awareness gives all of us a stake in our country’s energy future. However, the successful attainment of our goals is contingent upon everyone’s full cooperation,” said Sec. Cusi in his remarks.

USec. Fuentebella meanwhile, urged the public to live by the core message of “E-Power Mo” efficiently and effectively by using the country’s energy sources to create wealth for the nation.

He said the conference aims to have a strengthened collaboration between the government and the public to engage in healthy and informed discussions on issues of national interest.

One of the four main points during the “E-Power Mo” plenary session was the Philippine Energy Plan (PEP), which was highlighted by the presentation of energy roadmaps, anchored towards the Ambisyon Natin 2040 program of the government which envisions a comfortable life for all Filipinos.

The PEP was delivered by DOE-Energy Policy and Planning Bureau (EPPB) Assistant Director Carmencita Bariso.

Department of Foreign Affairs-Strategy Economics and Results Group Chief of Staff Ira C. Camarao, on the other hand, discussed the wisdom of the TRAIN Law as an investment in the country’s future to benefit common Filipinos through infrastructure projects and improved government services, while EPPB-Planning Division Chief Michael Sinocruz provided an overview of Executive Order 30 (EO30) that fast-tracks the processing of energy projects of national significance (EPNS) through an inter-agency Energy Investment Coordinating Council.

Mr. Sinocruz outlined the criteria in determining EPNS apart from an integral part of the Philippine Energy Plan such as projects amounting to least PhP3.5 billion, contribution to the environment and the economy among others.

EPPB Senior Science Research Specialist Marietta M. Quejada, meanwhile, presented the fourth topic tackling the milestones in identifying the best option for the Philippines’ nuclear energy policy.

The plenary session was followed by six breakout sessions focusing on issues pertaining to downstream oil and natural gas, upstream oil, natural gas and coal, renewable energy, power industry, alternative fuels and energy technologies and consumer sub-sector.

The DOE also held an E-Power Mo Energy 101 last 10 October for the local media to further understand the industry and have a holistic approach in reporting about energy and its related topics.

E-Power Mo is the DOE’s move to impart crucial knowledge to Filipino energy consumers and stakeholders by providing objective and helpful information, which is in partnership with the Presidential Communications Operations Office, the Philippine Information Agency and the B-LEADERS Project of USAID.

OTHER PHOTOS:

ILOILO CONSUMERS: The breakout session on the Consumer Sector during the E-Power Mo event in Iloilo last Tuesday aimed to share with the participants power contingency planning, energy labeling guide for appliances and lighting products for more efficient electricity usage, human resource development and workforce planning for a nuclear power program, and petroleum product safety practices.

The E-Power Mo is the DOE's integrated information, education and communication campaign that aims to empower its stakeholders, most especially the consumers.

THE MEDIA CORPS: The Department of Energy (DOE) officials together with the members of the local media corps strike the E-Power pose after the Energy 101 on 10 October at the Grand Xing Imperial Hotel in Iloilo city.

The DOE took advantage of the opportunity to share with the gatekeepers of news the basic knowledge about the energy industry for a more comprehensive yet simplified understanding of it.

The DOE E-Power Mo aims to empower, not only the consumers, but also its partners in information dissemination, like the media.
