Tees On Trend: The Tee Party Commences with the Annual SM Youth Tee Festival

Childhood symbols become young adult emblems as SM Youth rolls out their yearly-awaited SM Youth Tee Festival T-shirt drop. The Tee has been a classic symbol of youth and self-expression, as generations have taken to the classic style piece and dressed it up and down according to their style. It's not a surprise to find a multitude of Tees in every youth's closet, and the yearly SM Youth Tee Festival allows SM Youth's loyal following to stock up on Tee drops as featured T-shirts can be bought with special discounts.

But first, the collection. SM Youth is out to make Mickey cool again—every kid's favorite mouse bids for teen squad status as Mickey Mouse prints appear in select SM Youth T-shirts. It's a pop art fix waiting to be satisfied: Mickey Mouse cartoons are rendered as T-shirt patterns, some illustrated in his classic red trousers-yellow shoe look, others showing a more minimalist interpretation of the motley mouse in graphic black and white. In a supporting role, other youth prints make the cut as well: cartoon cacti patches and other Instagram emoji fodder play the star in a line of multicolored basic tees. SM Youth Ambassador Kaila Estrada fronts the campaign as she is joined by the winner of the SM Youth Go-See Contest, Erika Kristensen.

Styling a tee can be turned into the easiest fashion hack as the versatile pieces covers all areas of the style spectrum: cuffed ripped jeans, vintage socks and skater sneaks speak of '80s streets, while a monochrome two-piece suit is an ode to the gods of high-low fashion. Any way you want to wear your SM Youth tee, it'll look like it's made just for you.

Shop SM Youth tees at a massive discount with the SM Youth Tee Festival. From September until October 31, slash up to P200 off the total price of three (3) tees. That's an annual treat you wouldn't wanna miss out on. Shop SM Youth T-shirts at all The SM Store branches nationwide. Visit facebook.com/SMYouthLifestyle or on Twitter and Instagram at @SM_Youth for more details on the Tee Festival and other promos.

Bring On The Tees: Bring Out the Excitement in Stocking Up On Shirts at the SM Men Tee Festival

So much talk is given about men in suits, but how about men in shirts? In the realm of menswear, you can't spell "style" without a tee, and SM Men's annual Tee Festival lets avid tee enthusiasts in on the chance to score stylish T-shirts at a great price. After all, what's guy style without a shirt? Today, even basic tees are given a new spin—whether it be in colors, fit or silhouette—fit for any kind of style, so no man can ever give a valid excuse for not stocking up on his new shirt pile.

This year, pieces offered for the SM Men Tee Festival are decidedly intellectual: Ivy League sensibilities matched with unexpectedly stylish basics seen in Palo Alto startup geniuses. Tailored tees, pastel palettes and subtle pattern details all come together for Tee offerings that reminisce proper golf matches and drinks by the country club. Pastel polo shirts, tie-around sweaters and stately stripes are mixed along with generic tees in dark colors and Zuckerberg hoodies in somber shades. As a most-fitting wildcard, woodsmith denim patches are sewn onto basic black shirts, adding a more casual industrial mood to an otherwise academic collection.

Wear each piece modified according to your style: match light-colored shirts to tattered jeans to balance out the prep school vibe, or carry a hip hop beat with hoodies and dark shirts worn with jogger pants and the flashiest high-top sneakers. The great thing about shirts is, you can wear them any way you want.

Until October 31, the SM Men Tee Festival gives you great deals on the most stylish shirts. You can get up to P200 off on the total of three (3) shirts purchased. An annual sale not to be missed, head on to the SM Men section at every branch of The SM Store nationwide.

Visit facebook.com/SMMensfashion or on Twitter and Instagram at @SM_Men for more details on the summer collection and other promos.

Beat Acne with Proactiv

As per consumer perception, it is without any doubt that Proactiv is the trusted and reliable acne product.

I have not heard of any other product with equal popularity and acceptance. Many brands have tried to reach similar  status but have failed. Proactivly has truly put itself above everyone else when it comes to effective acne cure.

Filipinos are very particular about the types of products that they use on their skin. They like to read about various brands and even try different products to find out what works best for their skin type.

Everyone wants to have flawless skin. Yet, it is quite a challenge considering the pollution we encounter almost everyday on the streets, whether in Metro Manila or even at the provinces, where pollution caused by factories, transport  vehicles, smoking are becoming prominent now that almost everyone can now afford to buy vehicles. Our lifestyle is also a struggle because of the proliferation of oily, fatty and other harmful diet that does not contribute to healthy skin. Therefore we are forever haunted by pimples.

Those little bumps can make or break one’s confidence. Teens for instance, prefer to stay home when they have pimple problems because it is easily noticed by their peers.

My teenage daughter is so bewildered by the non-stop presence of pimples in her face. I try to explain to her that almost everyone goes through the same phase on life but pimples really does bring down confidence especially when facing an audience during talks, meeting with people or speaking engagements at school.

America’s #1 acne treatment system has been helping Filipinos with pimple problems regain their confidence. The Proactiv Solution clears problematic spots and prevents acne before it starts for a fresh-looking, blemish-free skin. The solution kit is composed of several products developed by top international dermatologists and covers a 3-Step System the guarantees a clear and healthy skin.

Available at Watsons and SM Department Stores, Proactiv has 30-Day kit (Php 2,495) for first time users who wish to try the product and a 60-Day kit (Php 3,995) for those who have been enjoying Proactiv’s many benefits. Proactiv offers a money-back guarantee.

With Proactiv Solution, more people now have the chance to fight back on acne.

Additional Bouts Announced for One: Legends of the World in Manila

The largest sports media property in Asian history, ONE Championship™ (ONE), has just announced additional bouts for ONE: LEGENDS OF THE WORLD, set for 10 November at the state-of-the-art Mall of Asia Arena in Manila. Fans will be treated to another exciting evening of authentic martial arts action as the best martial arts talent in the world take the ONE Championship cage. In the main event, reigning ONE Lightweight World Champion Eduard Folayang will defend his title against ONE Featherweight World Champion Martin Nguyen. In the co-main event, ONE Flyweight World Champion Adriano Moraes will take on rising star Danny Kingad of Team Lakay.

Ticket information for ONE: LEGENDS OF THE WORLD is available at www.onefc.com.

Eduard “Landslide” Folayang, of the legendary Team Lakay in Baguio City, is one of the Philippines’ most experienced martial artists. After nearly a decade of competing in various promotions, the multiple-time SEA Games Wushu gold medallist has amassed an impressive 18-5 professional record. The 33-year-old veteran is currently riding a four-bout winning streak against high-profile opponents, including an emphatic technical knockout victory over Japanese legend Shinya Aoki to capture the ONE Lightweight World Championship in 2016. Showcasing a highly-improved wrestling and grappling arsenal, Folayang then defeated top challenger Ev Ting in his first title defense last April. Now set to return to the ONE Championship cage in Manila, Folayang will face ONE Featherweight World Champion Martin Nguyen in a cross-divisional showdown.

28-year-old Martin “The Situ-Asian” Nguyen of Sydney, Australia, is a highly-skilled finisher and one of the most talented featherweights in martial arts. In his most recent bout, Nguyen stepped into the ONE Championship cage last August, scoring the biggest victory of his career when he stopped former undefeated featherweight champion Marat “Cobra” Gafurov in Kuala Lumpur to capture the ONE Featherweight World Championship. Sporting a 9-1 professional record, Nguyen’s all-around skill set allows him to compete at the highest level of competition. In a much-anticipated battle between division champions, Nguyen is set to challenge the Philippines’ Eduard Folayang for the ONE Lightweight World Championship, and attempt to become the first double-division World Champion in ONE history.

28-year-old Adriano “Mikinho” Moraes of Brazil is a Brazilian jiu-jitsu black belt with well-rounded striking and grappling skills. He is the undisputed ONE Flyweight World Champion, and one of the most highly-skilled and dominant world champions in martial arts. Rarely opposed in the ONE Championship cage, Moraes thoroughly defeated former champion Kairat Akhmetov in an epic rematch last August, snapping the Kazakhstani’s perfect 23-bout win streak and reclaiming his belt. He is now set to defend his title against rising star Danny Kingad.

An unbeaten flyweight from Team Lakay, Danny “The King” Kingad is a regional wushu champion and martial artist with a perfect professional record of 5-0. A true warrior from the mountains of the Philippines and one of the top prospects to come out of Baguio City, Kingad is a tremendous striker who possesses well-rounded grappling skills. In his most recent bout, Kingad turned in a complete performance, putting his wide range of techniques on full display in a unanimous decision victory over Malaysia’s Muhammad Aiman. The impressive victory earned Kingad a shot at the ONE Flyweight World Championship, as he next meets defending champion Adriano Moraes.

Kevin “The Silencer” Belingon of the famed Team Lakay in Baguio City, Philippines, is one of the country’s most talented martial artists. With a professional record of 16-5, the Filipino champion and former world title challenger is known as a fierce competitor with the ability to finish opponents in a variety of methods. The 29-year old wushu stalwart owns seven huge knockouts on his resume, and is one of the most feared strikers in ONE Championship’s deep bantamweight division. In his last bout, Belingon stopped a top contender in Reece McLaren of Australia with a volley of devastating strikes. He now takes on another tough task ahead in Kevin Chung.

Kevin “Old Boy” Chung is a 24-year-old South Korean martial artist who was born and raised in the United States. He began his amatuer career in his adoptive hometown of Centreville, Virginia, in 2010, and has since impressed with his spectacular performances inside the cage. Chung turned professional in 2015, and currently holds a perfect professional record of 4-0, with two of his four career wins having come by way of spectacular stoppage. Chung prides himself on being an exciting competitor, willing to please the crowd by constantly seeking the highlight-reel finish. He is set to face feared striker Kevin Belingon next.

34-year-old Alex “Little Rock” Silva of Sao Paulo, Brazil, is a second-degree Brazilian jiu-jitsu black belt and world champion with a professional record of 5-1. Silva is riding high on a four-bout winning streak, rapidly climbing ONE Championship’s stacked flyweight ranks. He is a technical grappling specialist with a penchant for securing highlight-reel submission finishes. With steadily increasing confidence, Silva’s last four victories have ended in spectacular fashion. In his next outing, Silva takes on Japanese warrior Hayato Suzuki.

31-year-old Hayato Suzuki of Saitama, Japan, is a veteran martial artist with an unblemished professional record of 17-0 with two draws. Spending the majority of his career competing in his native Japan, Suzuki is known as a highly-skilled competitor with the ability to finish his foes with heavy knockout power and technical grappling skills. Out of 17 wins, Suzuki has finished 12 of his opponents, including seven by submission and five by knockout. In his most recent bout, Suzuki submitted former world title challenger Joshua Pacio in the first round. He is now set to face fellow grappler, Alex Silva.

Top Filipino women’s martial arts contender Gina “Conviction” Iniong of Baguio City, Philippines, is a six-time national wushu champion and member of the renowned Team Lakay. She owns a professional martial arts record of 5-2, with three of her five victories coming by thrilling finish, including two highlight-reel submissions and one knockout. In her last bout, Iniong impressed in her ONE Championship debut, defeating tough competitor Natalie Gonzales Hills by unanimous decision.

Female martial artist Priscilla Hertati Lumban Gaol of Jakarta, Indonesia, is an Indonesian national wushu champion who has trained in various striking disciplines such as kickboxing and wushu. The 29-year-old made her ONE Championship debut against Singapore’s Tiffany Teo at ONE: THRONE OF TIGERS last February, joining a growing list of elite female martial artists in Asia. Gaol will look to emerge triumphant in her next appearance inside the ONE Championship cage, when she takes on the Philippines’ Gina Iniong.

31-year-old Anatpong Bunrad of Thailand is one of the most talented strikers in the promotion’s deep flyweight division. He utilizes lightning quick and powerful strikes to subdue his opponents with sheer aggression, but also possesses the ability to finish on the ground with solid submission skills. In his most recent bout, Bunrad dropped a close split decision to Filipino rival Geje Eustaquio. Bunrad is looking for redemption inside the ONE Championship cage, as he takes on the highly-regarded Reece McLaren.

26-year-old Reece “Lightning” McLaren is a Filipino-Australian martial artist from Toowoomba, Australia, who sports a professional record of 9-5. He made his ONE Championship debut in 2015 with a spectacular submission victory over top bantamweight contender Mark Striegl, and then followed up that win with a unanimous decision victory over highly-regarded talent Muin Gafurov. In December of 2016, McLaren challenged Bibiano Fernandes for the ONE Bantamweight World Championship, falling just short of victory by way of split decision. Next for McLaren is a move to the flyweight division, as he faces top divisional talent Anatpong Bunrad.

21-year-old Joshua Pacio of Baguio City is a top martial arts talent with a professional record of 9-2. He is one of the Philippines’ most talented strawweights and a member of the famed Team Lakay. A rising star in Asian martial arts, Pacio is a wushu practitioner with a solid grappling repertoire. All but one of his career victories have come by spectacular finish, which includes five wins by submission and three by devastating knockout. A former ONE Strawweight World Championship Title Challenger, Pacio is looking to bring himself back to title contention with a victory. A tough task is ahead of Pacio, however, as he is slated to lock horns with countryman Roy Doliguez.

35-year-old Roy “The Dominator” Doliguez is considered one of the top strawweights in ONE Championship. Doliguez, a former professional boxing champion with more than 40 pro bouts, made his ONE Championship debut in 2015, vying for the inaugural ONE Strawweight World Championship against former champion Dejdamrong Sor Amnuaysirichoke. In his most recent bout, Doliguez scored the biggest win of his career, stopping Brazilian stalwart Yago Bryan via third-round knockout. His next bout will be against fellow Filipino warrior Joshua Pacio.

Kicking off an exciting card at ONE: LEGENDS OF THE WORLD, Chinese featherweight Xie Chao will take on Malaysia’s Kelvin Ong. Xie was victorious in his most recent contest, submitting Marc Marcellinus with a first-round kimura in his promotional debut at ONE CHAMPIONSHIP: SHANGHAI. Ong, who trains alongside Ann “Athena” Osman and AJ “Pyro” Lias Mansor at Borneo Tribal Squad, will try his best to derail Xie’s winning ways in one of the evening’s preliminary bouts.

Also featured in the prelims is a classic clash of grappler versus striker, as China’s national wrestling champion Peng Xue Wen takes on three-time national Kun Khmer champion Phat Soda of Cambodia in a three-round strawweight bout.

Energy Resiliency Policy to Guide the Rebuilding of Marawi- Cusi

INTENSIVE DELIBERATION: Participants of the public consultations discussed the provisions of the proposed energy resiliency policy, particularly those concerning the power industry. The Mindanao-leg energy resiliency policy pubcon was held Tuesday (17 October 2017) at the N Hotel in Cagayan de Oro City.

The Department of Energy (DOE) conducted here Tuesday the Mindanao-leg of the energy resiliency policy public consultations in view of the region’s vulnerability to natural and human-induced disasters, such as the siege of Marawi City.

Energy Secretary Alfonso G. Cusi said, “The policy will help guide the massive restoration and rehabilitation efforts of energy facilities in Marawi City, which must immediately commence as soon as the cessation of fighting in the city torn by the 5-month long military operation in the area.”

“We are fast-tracking the issuance and implementation of the energy resiliency policy as this would guide us, especially in rebuilding Marawi City,” Sec. Cusi said.

The DOE chose Cagayan de Oro City as venue for the third-leg of the consultations since the city serves as the gateway to Northern Mindanao and the people living in nearby areas are aware of the adverse effects of typhoons, floods and armed conflicts to their energy sources.

The energy resiliency policy, dubbed as the “Adoption of Resiliency Planning and Program in the Energy Industry to Mitigate Adverse Effects Brought About by Disasters,” is anchored on President Duterte’s directive to heighten disaster resilience.

Among others, the proposed policy seeks to strengthen the existing energy infrastructure and systems; institutionalize the “build back better” principle; improve existing disaster resilience operations; and develop resiliency practices, systems and standards.

“With this policy, we are building with the industry players a structure on how to plan and address human-induced disasters that compromise existing power facilities,” Sec. Cusi emphasized.

Other important issues discussed during the Mindanao-leg consultations include the improvement of information technology infrastructure, energy stakeholders’ involvement, sectoral guidelines, and determining the policy’s contribution to the overall strategy of the country towards disaster resilience, risk reduction and response.

The Mindanao-leg also reflected some of the views and suggestions from the Luzon and Visayas-leg of consultations, including the resiliency compliance plan and its timelines, the task force, regulatory support and monitoring, definition of terms, roles and responsibilities, costs and budgetary concerns, plans and roadmaps, among others.

In addition to the public consultations conducted, the DOE welcomes additional comments or recommendations of all concerned citizens on the proposed policy. For this purpose, the public may send until Friday, 20 October 2017 their insight through email:doe.eppb@doe.gov.ph. An electronic copy of the policy is downloadable at the DOE official website:www.doe.gov.ph.

“The issuance of this policy will cement the DOE’s commitment to mainstream disaster risk reduction to increase the reliability of our energy systems and reduce their vulnerability to disasters,” Sec. Cusi said.

SECTORAL SESSIONS: The DOE grouped the participants into sectors to provide sector-specific inputs for the refinement of the proposed energy resiliency policy. The Mindanao-leg of the consultations was conducted on 17 October in Cagayan de Oro City due to its experience with destructive calamities- natural and human-induced.

NCR First Community Visit Love to Learn, Kaingin I, Pansol, Quezon City
September 23, 2017
Post Documentation Report

ChEer  UP  Pinoy  held  its  first  NCR  visitation  for  this  academic  year  at  Love  to  Learn Community Center in Kaingin 1, Brgy. Pansol, Quezon City last September 23, 2017.  About 25 kids were able to attend and 11 volunteers offered assistance. The program started at around 1:30 PM and lasted for about two and a half hours.

The visitation began by playing a game to give the kids a fun and engaging atmosphere.  The rules of the game were simple. They just had to perform a pose related to the word given.

After the game, the kids watched a video entitled "Ozzy Ozone" for them to know more about the ozone layer. The kids were very concentrated in watching the said animation. A lecture followed to help the kids understand the importance of the ozone layer and learn about how they can help prevent further depletion of the ozone layer.

Three experiments were also conducted subsequently to the first lecture.

The first experiment was the Ozone Layer Demonstration. The kids were very participative. Three kids volunteered to take part in the experiment. They were asked to chew one bubble gum each. The bubble gum served as the ozone layer. Boiling water was then added to the water bottle up to the  brim  and  was covered  by the  bubble  gum  the  kids chewed. The procedure was repeated with lesser water. The kids were eager to see the result of the demonstration. This demonstrated the ozone layer depletion; the bottle represented the world, the water represented the CFC’s (chlorofluorocarbons) and the gum represented the ozone layer.

The second experiment was the Water Thermometer.  A  water  bottle  was  filled  with cold water up to the brim. A straw was placed inside the bottle and was packed with clay to seal the opening. As the bottle was placed in the hot water, the cold water inside the bottle rose up in the straw and when it was placed in the  cold  water,  the  water  went  down.  Food color   was   also   added   to   easily   see   the changes. The kids carefully observed the changes of the water levels.

The third experiment was Water Up the Leaves. The bottom parts of the leaves were removed and were placed in a half-filled cup of water with food color. The set-up was left for the kids to observe for the next three days.

Another set of lectures were presented to the kids. They watched an animation video before each lecture. The videos were entitled "What is Climate Change?" and "Impacts of Climate Change on Animals". Afterwards, the volunteers explained the definition of global warming, and discussed what greenhouse gases are – what are their sources and effects to the environment, as well as their effects to the animals.

A total of three lectures and three experiments were done during the visitation. The last activity was for the kids to draw or write what they learned about that day and what actions they would do to help save the environment. As the visitation concluded, snacks were distributed to the kids. Overall, the kids were very participative and showed interest in the topics presented. It was not only the kids who enjoyed the visitation; the volunteers were also happy for the success of the first NCR event and because of the joy brought to them by the kids.

Bancrea Homes Launches 24/7 Global Real Estate Digital Services Website Goes Live at www.BancreaHomes.com

Available 24/7 online, newly-formed Bancrea Homes, together with its partner developer and mass-housing advocate 8990 Holdings Inc., launches its official website, www.BancreaHomes.com, today, which unleashes a full range of innovative features that a traditional property brokerage firm does not usually offer.

These features include the “ASK REA:24/7 Live Chat,” a dedicated live chat hosted by real-person customer service staff, an “E-Refer Kita” app, where every Juan can refer a sales lead, check the status of their referral, and earn a commission on the lead, and a lead generation and exchange service whose dedicated Customer Relationship Management (CRM) platform, powered by Aggrego.io, can organize and track sales leads and virtually manage a network of real estate brokers and agents.

To make the necessary site trippings less stressful among prospective home buyers, Bancrea Homes also introduces its “Book-A-Tour”—via a ride-sharing app—where you can schedule your visit at your own time and also ride for free. Bancrea Homes also provides financial literacy sessions among first-time homebuyers; documentation and taxes consultations; pabahay programs and rent-to-own deals for employees; pre-approved home loans; property leasing services, and rewards from industry partners.

Further, Bancrea Homes offers a free franchise for local and international brokers who would like to sell the housing units of Urban Deca Homes, the flagship brand of 8990 Holdings Inc.

“For first-time homebuyers, buying a house is a bit stressful; they need help from an experienced broker or agent throughout the process. In Bancrea Homes, we assist our clients from reservation to documentation, from the payments to moving in,” says Roy Buen, Bancrea Homes’ founder and CEO.

He adds, “We also have a 24/7 online live chat where real-person customer service officers are just one message away anytime, anywhere. Sadly, a lot of property brokers and agents lacks the after-sales service; once the client has reserved a property, the brokers and agents are suddenly unavailable. Part of our advocacy is to put a stop to this frequent home buyers’ dilemma.”

Bancrea Homes’ current roster of brokers and agents was originally trained by 8990 Holdings Inc., which makes Tani Basman, 8990 Holdings’ assistant general manager for Metro Manila sales and customer service, all the more confident. “We’ve made a partnership with Bancrea Homes to deliver the sales for our National Capital Region (NCR) projects [Urban Deca EDSA Tower, Urban Deca Homes Campville-Muntinlupa City, and Urban Deca Homes Tondo, among others]. We believe in the goal of Bancrea Homes: to deliver good customer service, which translates to more sales,” says Basman.

“Both Bancrea Homes and 8990 Holdings are serving the same mass-housing market. We also closely work with government financial institutions such as Pag-IBIG Fund and the National Home Mortgage Financing Corporation,” Buen explains. “As of today, the mass-housing backlog is more than five million homes. Pinoy Pride: Dance Crew from Compostela Valley Impresses the Judges in the Premiere Episode of Asia’s Got Talent

It was a performance of epic backflips and hair flicks when DM-X Comvaleñoz took the stage in last Thursday’s premiere episode of Asia’s Got Talent.

This was the first time the nine-strong dance crew had travelled out of the Philippines, but that certainly didn’t stop them from bringing the audience to their feet with their ‘rock-style’ dance moves that managed to blow the judges away.

“It was amazing. It was a great performance. Great job, guys,” said Jay Park, praising the dance crew.

“It was really impressive seeing you perform. It was super entertaining,” Anggun added.

DM-X Comvaleñoz received three yeses from the judges and are now in the running to be in the Semi-Finals.

Other Pinoy acts performing in last Thursday’s premiere episode included the sensational 68-year-old rapping grandmother, Mercifuletes Viola, (#RappingGranny) and a returning high-octane dance act from season one, D’Intensity Breakers.

The first Golden Buzzer of the season went to Jay Park’s choice, ADEM Dance Crew from the Kyrgyz Republic.

“To be honest, I’ve seen a lot of animation shows but the way you put yours together was crazy. It was amazing, it was really, really good,” said Jay.

ADEM dance crew will head directly to the Semi-Finals and they are now one step closer to winning the grand prize of USD100,000.
