Saiful Merican on Facing Filipino Fighter Again: ‘Not Personal, Just Business’

Wazzup Pilipinas!

Malaysian standout Saiful “The Vampire” Merican will face an exciting Filipino fighter in his much-awaited return to the ONE Championship on 10 February as he is set to lock horns with Burn “The Hitman” Soriano in a three-round bantamweight clash.

The bout will be one of the featured attractions at ONE: THRONE OF TIGERS, which takes place at the 12,000-seater Stadium Negara in Merican’s hometown of Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

Merican, who makes his bantamweight debut against Soriano, is coming off a first-round knockout loss to Team Lakay’s Geje Eustaquio in January 2016.

Although he has the chance to settle the score with a Filipino combatant in his comeback bout, to the 28-year-old Malaysian stalwart was quick to shot down the notion that he is out to avenge his setback to Eustaquio with a win over Soriano.

“It’s not personal. This is purely business against Burn Soriano. I hold no grudges win or lose. At the end of the day, it is a sport,” Merican said.

Happy Safer Internet Day! Let Us All Embrace Digital Civility

Wazzup Pilipinas!

Technology is the great equalizer, yet few realize that with every benefit that technology brings, it can also enable negativity. In the digital space, for example, it is becoming the norm to see hate speech, negative comments and alternative facts, and more so in a way that impacts reputations, privacy, relationships and in extreme cases, physical safety.

In fact, the number of cyberbullying cases are reportedly on the rise in countries like Australia, India, Malaysia, New Zealand, Singapore, Philippines, and Thailand. This is becoming a great concern here in hyper-connected and culturally-diverse Asia, where there are 629 million active users on Facebook[1] alone.

As we mark Safer Internet Day (SID) on February 7, Microsoft is challenging people around the world to embrace “digital civility” and treat each other with respect and dignity online. It may sound simple, but a new Microsoft survey shows people are concerned about the tone and consequences of online interactions and they’re worried risks will increase in the future.

The new Microsoft Digital Civility Index (DCI), which we announced today, measures consumers’ lifetime exposure to online risks. It is based on a survey completed in June 2016 to gauge the attitudes and perceptions of teens (ages 13-17) and adults (ages 18-74) 14 countries[2] about the state of digital civility today.

The survey asked questions like, “which online risks have you and your close circle experienced, when and how often have the risks occurred, and what consequences and actions were taken?” — and it measured respondents’ lifetime exposure to 17 online risks across four areas: behavioral, reputational, sexual and personal/intrusive.

Results showed that an individual has experienced an average of 2.2 online safety risks out of the 17 included in the survey. The top 5 online risks are:

1. Unwanted contact
2. Being treated mean
3. Trolling
4. Receiving unwanted sexts, and
5. Online harassment

Some other key findings from the study include:

·         Two out of three respondents said they had fallen victim to at least one risk; that percentage swelled to 78 percent when participants also accounted for the online experiences of their friends and family members
·         50 percent reported being “extremely or very” worried about life online generally
·         62 percent said they did not know or were unsure where to get help when they encountered an online risk
·         Respondents ranked a “loss of trust in others, increased stress, and sleep deprivation” as the leading, real-world consequences of negative online interactions

Based on the results, DCI scores were then calculated by using the percentage of consumers who were exposed at some point in time to at least one of 17 different online risks. Lower scores equate to lower online risk exposure and a higher digital civility.

Digital Civility in Asia

The international Digital Civility Index score stands at 65. Of the three countries surveyed in Asia, Australia ranked 2nd on the DCI, only behind the United Kingdom. 51% of Australians reported having ever been exposed to an online risk. Australia scored below international averages on nearly all category and individual risk items apart from cyberbullying at 32%, which is also the most concerning online risks in the country.

In India and China, 63% and 67% respectively reported having ever been exposed to an online risk, ranking them at 7th and 8th on the DCI. India had incidence levels that were close to the international averages across most online risks and expressed the highest level of overall concern about online risks (69%) among the countries surveyed. China exceeded the international averages on Reputational and Sexual risks and was below average on Intrusive risks. Doxing was highlighted to be a big problem in China, at 34%, which is double the second ranked country (Russia, 17%).

But even in Australia, has one of the highest levels of perceived digital civility, nearly a quarter of respondents experienced and online risk within the past one month and the figure is even higher at over 40% in both India and China (44% and 42% respectively).

Unsurprisingly, youths in all the 3 countries surveyed in the region, were found to have a greater number of interactions online than adults.

It is clear that more needs to be done to grow a culture of digital civility and treat each other with respect and dignity online, particularly among youths.

Take action and join in our Digital Civility Challenge

As a long time participant of Safer Internet Day since 2004, Microsoft is encouraging global consumers to get involved and join in the Digital Civility Challenge as they learn about online safety risk from the DCI. The challenge calls on people to commit daily to four ideals and to share their pledge on social media, using the hashtags #Challenge4Civility and #Im4DigitalCivility.

Specifically, everyone is encouraged on these four ideals:

1.Live the Golden Rule by acting with empathy, compassion and kindness in every interaction, and treating everyone they connect with online with dignity and respect.

2. Respect differences and honor diverse perspectives, and when disagreements surface to engage thoughtfully, and avoid name-calling and personal attacks.

3. Pause before replying to things people disagree with, and not posting or sending anything that could hurt someone else, damage reputations or threaten people’s safety.

4. Stand up for myself and others by supporting those who are targets of online abuse or cruelty, reporting activity that threatens anyone’s safety, and preserving evidence of inappropriate or unsafe behavior.

Along with the DCI, Microsoft is also sharing some best practices for digital civility. You can also find out more about how you can start championing digital civility on the Microsoft website and resources page.

This Safer Internet Day, as we continue to strive for progress, we must remain mindful that digital civility - grounded in empathy - is everyone’s responsibility. We hope to see digital civility become a common sense behavior, as we collectively build and support a safe and trusted online environment where everyone is empowered to share, create, learn and fully participate.

Hontiveros Propose Alternative Strategy to Drug Problem

Wazzup Pilipinas!

"We cannot kill our way out of the drug problem."

This was the statement of Akbayan Senator Risa Hontiveros on Monday as she filed a bill that seeks to replace the government’s corrupt and abusive anti-drug campaign with an “alternative health and law enforcement strategy” to address the country’s drug problem.

In a press conference together with different health advocates and community leaders, Hontiveros presented to the public Senate Bill No. 1313 otherwise known as the "Barangay Health and Rehabilitation Strategy Act of 2017”. Hontiveros said that her bill aims to provide a comprehensive public health approach to the country’s drug policy and establish appropriate barangay-based programs and services for drug-related issues and concerns.

“The suspension of Oplan Tokhang is a recognition that a simplistic crime and punishment approach is simply ineffective. There is a need for a new and sustainable strategy that is humane, rehabilitative and less susceptible to abuse. We cannot kill our way out of this problem,” Hontiveros said.

“Offer hope, not death”

Hontiveros said that the mistakes and abuses of Oplan Tokhang must not be repeated. “Even as we seek justice for the innocent victims of the government’s flawed and abusive war on drugs, we will start implementing a new strategy in the barangays, particularly Pasay and Caloocan which were severely ravaged by Oplan Tokhang. We must shift our policy from simple punishment to treatment. We must offer hope not death,” Hontiveros added.

Citing data from the Dangerous Drugs Board, Hontiveros said that only about nine per cent (9%) of over a million drug users who expressed their willingness to access treatment needed to be committed in rehabilitation centers. Ninety one per cent (91%) did not need institutionalized intervention. “Without any government program to address their needs, they remain in the “Kill List.” The government response is currently limited to criminal prosecution and facility-based rehabilitation. These are clearly inadequate,” she said.

Barangay-based rehabilitation centers and programs

Hontiveros, who is the Chairperson of the Senate Committee on Health, said that she wants to create a Health Intervention for Drug Use Bureau (HIDUB) which will establish and implement along with local government units (LGUs) a National Health Intervention for Drug Use Program, absorbing existing drug abuse treatment and rehabilitation programs of the Department of Health (DoH).

The senator, who pointed to the success of Barangay Culiat in implementing her proposed strategy, said that her bill also seeks to create barangay-based health intervention and rehabilitation programs and centers for drug dependents to be able to provide intervention programs to respond to the assessed needs of drug dependents, which include consultation, case management, psycho-education, counseling, health and social support, relapse management, and other evidence-based health interventions and strategies.

Alternative drug law enforcement strategy targeting big-time drug syndicates

Meanwhile, Hontiveros said that a public health approach to the drug problem must be complemented by a “rules-based and modern drug law enforcement strategy" targeting big-time drug syndicates.  She said that the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) must take the lead, with the Philippine National Police (PNP) taking a coordinative role in the conduct of anti-drug operations.

"The government must bring the campaign to the drug lords and not to the poor. As such, side by side with a public health approach, our drug law enforcement strategy must shift focus to organized drug syndicates. We must focus on crimes associated with big drug operations, such as money laundering and extortion. We must also strengthen border control in international airports and seaports, and heighten operations against cross-country narco trafficking,” Hontiveros explained.

Hontiveros said that her alternative law enforcement strategy has five major pillars:

1.Internal cleansing of law enforcement agencies to ensure that they are not infiltrated by elements corrupted by drug syndicates.
2. Replenish ranks of law enforcers with new agents who are impervious to police corruption. Salaries and benefits must be increased to attract the “best and brightest”.
3. Mobilization of government resources to fund modern crime-fighting and solving infrastructure and capability enhancement programs, such as a nationwide automated crime reporting system, security-camera command centers in police districts and stations, air assets and modern laboratory equipments which can be used for more thorough and extensive substance analysis.
4.Strengthened community policing as a response to reactive, incident-driven law enforcement work.
5. Focus law enforcement resources on big-time drug lords and syndicates.

Hontiveros filed the bill together with advocates from the No Box Transitions Philippines, Sustained Health Initiatives of the Philippines (SHIP) and community leaders from Barangay Culiat, Quezon City.

Dayanara Torres: ASAP Hails the Dancing Queen of the 90s

Wazzup Pilipinas!

Can I just say, Dayanara Torres is still smashingly beautiful! She is undoubtedly still as beautiful as ever.

My eyes were just glued on the TV as she performed live with back-up dancers. It was surely an emotional flashback for many of her fans. Now, she's back as an instant celebrity in the Philippines!

We got to see her again a few days ago when she judged the Miss Universe 2016 beauty pageant in Manila together with Sushmita Sen, Leila Lopes, Francine LeFrak, Mickey Boardman, and Cynthia Bailey, but her appearance during the anniversary of ASAP on ABS-CBN for their 22nd year was such a throwback moment that you can't stop reminiscing those years when she was hailed as the Dancing Queen of the Philippines.
Dayanara Torres is more than happy to be back in the Philippines, which she once considered her home. We had many memorable moments with the former Miss Universe from the very moment she won her title until she became a familiar face of Philippine showbiz.

Since the Puerto Rican beauty queen flew to Manila to be a judge in Miss Universe, she also took the time to reunite with old friends including her co-hosts at ASAP. She was seen with Gary, Angeli, and Gina Valenciano, Rajo Laurel, Nix Alanon, Tim Yap, Rey Rolla, JM Rodriguez, and fellow beauty queen Ruffa Gutierrez.

Being a former host, together with top OPM performers like Martin Nievera, Ariel Rivera, Zsa Zsa Padilla, Vina Morales and Gary Valenciano, she rightfully deserves to return to the ASAP show for a reunion to celebrate the anniversary.

Hontiveros to Present Alternative Strategy to Country's Drug Problem

Wazzup Pilipinas!

Akbayan Senator Risa Hontiveros will file on Monday (February 6, 2017), 10:00 am a bill that pushes for a Barangay Health and Rehabilitation Strategy that seeks to replace the suspended Oplan Tokhang in the campaign against illegal drugs. A press briefing will follow at the Sumulong Room, 2/f, Senate of the Philippines.

Together with representatives from the World Health Organization (WHO), health and harm reduction advocates, and barangay leaders, Hontiveros will draw attention to her proposed measure that aims to provide a comprehensive public health approach to the country’s drug policy and establish appropriate barangay-based programs and services for drug-related issues and concerns.

With the suspension of the abusive and corrupt-prone Oplan Tokhang, Hontiveros said that there is a need for a new strategy that is humane, rehabilitative and less susceptible to abuse.

The event will also feature accounts from barangay leaders who will attest to the effectiveness of Hontiveros' alternative strategy, which is currently being implemented with relative success in several barangays all over the country.

Media coverage is requested.

Government's Reaction to Amnesty International Report: Appalling, Unconscionable

Wazzup Pilipinas!

Any Senate or government-led inquiry that will sincerely help the people in their search for the truth and in crafting better policies to safeguard human rights is welcome.

As such, I am dismayed at how the Duterte administration has responded to the Amnesty International's report on extrajudicial killings in the country. From the House Speaker's "it's none of their business" remark to the Justice Secretary's "criminals are not humans" statement, to the President's usual profanity-laced attacks, the government's lack of commitment to address the country's human rights issues is appalling and unconscionable.

After all, what should a government be for, if not to protect the basic rights and liberties of its citizens? It is important to remember that peace and order is worth nothing and will eventually itself be destroyed without human rights, that an improvement in people's lives will only have lasting positive effects if it were founded on human rights for all.

The Amnesty International has a long track record of safeguarding human rights. It will not stake its reputation by issuing baseless reports. Its findings on the country's extrajudicial killings are a very serious matter. It deserves the government and the country's utmost serious attention.

Ipo Watershed Rangers Can Now Patrol Longer with Solar Lamps and Chargers

Wazzup Pilipinas!

They don’t pack high-tech gear nor high-caliber weapons, but the Dumagat rangers of Ipo Watershed patrol Bulacan’s forests like it were their home. Because it is.

Sporting simple tools and gear donated by mountaineers, the rangers work day and night to protect the Sierra Madre mountain range against illegal loggers, slash-and-burn farmers and charcoal collectors. With little gear and basic pay, they’ve had a tough run, but they finally got help.

Last 10 January, the watershed’s rangers received solar lamps and mobile chargers from the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF-Philippines) and AVolution, a digital signage solutions company whose core business is to supply and install LED screens across the Philippines. A total of 52 lamps were made available to the rangers to augment their capacity to patrol at night, while allowing them to charge their mobile phones and other communications gear, increasing the range of foot patrols.

“Our LED There be Light initiative illuminates distant communities and helps locals do their jobs without relying on dangerous, dirty and expensive kerosene or carbide lamps,” explains AVolution's President and General Manager Lani Kimber Campos. AVolution also gave 200 solar lamps to farmers in Brgy. Tiniguiban, Gumaca, Quezon Province last year.

Ipo Watershed, together with the Angat and Umiray watersheds, supply 98% of the water consumed by Metro Manila. Situated northeast of the sprawling Metropolis, it covers 7161 hectares in Norzagaray and San Jose Del Monte in Bulacan, plus Rodriguez in Rizal.

AVolution representatives Lani Campos (President and General Manager) and Maria Lea Bermudez (VP for Sales and Marketing) join WWF-Philippines representatives Paolo Pagaduan (Project Manager), Dr. Ria Lambino (VP for Sustainable Production) and Joel Palma (CEO).
Sadly, the watershed’s forests are in full retreat. Though protected by several proclamations including a Certificate of Ancestral Domain Title for the Indigenous Dumagat tribes of the watershed, the area is pockmarked by patches of bare soil. From 85%, forest cover plummeted to 40% in recent years. The government and groups like the UP Mountaineers have been helping locals protect the watershed.

WWF and its allies, which include Banco de Oro, Samsung and the Sunlife Foundation, recently joined the fray. “The deployment of solar lamps is just part of a larger initiative to protect the entire watershed,” explains WWF-Philippines Project Manager Paolo Pagaduan, who formerly oversaw a watershed conservation project in Rizal.

“We’re now working to develop a sustainable watershed management plan, form an effective management body for all micro-watersheds, aid groundwater recharge, minimize erosion and siltation, mitigate pollution through waste management, conduct regular monitoring and the evaluation of interventions and replant denuded areas to provide livelihood opportunities and maximize forest recovery. Simply put, we’re going beyond tree-planting,” he explains.

The burning of trees for charcoal is one of the biggest threats facing Philippine forests today. The ubiqutous blocks of charcoal or uling used to cook your barbeque or inihaw was probably taken from the mountains.

Ranger Bayani Cruz shows off three Kupang (Parkia timoriana) seedlings at a native plant nursery inside the Ipo Watershed. Bayani is part of a 52-ranger contingent tasked with protecting the forests ringing the watershed.

Ipo’s park rangers are always on the lookout for illegal loggers and charcoal makers.
But the proof of the pudding is in the eating – and the rangers were visibly excited to try out their new solar lamps and chargers at the turnover ceremonies.

“Sometimes we spend up to three days patrolling these mountains,” gestures veteran ranger Bayani Cruz to the distant mountains east of Ipo Dam, already scarred by kaingin or slash-and burn farmers. “Conditions are rough, especially during the monsoon season, when rivers swell and trails turn to streams – but we always do our duty. We earn only one hundred Pesos per day – but we don’t do this just for money. We are Dumagat. We were born in the forest and we are just protecting our homes.”

Through the efforts of the aptly-named Bayani, plus the rest of the rangers protecting the Ipo Watershed, Metro Manila’s 12 million residents can rest easy, knowing there will always be water to drink.

Hontiveros: Bluring Police and Military Functions, a Throwback to Martial Law Times

Wazzup Piipinas!

The plan by President Rodrigo Duterte to let the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) lead the government's anti-drug campaign is not new. PDEA has the mandate to push for efficient law enforcement in the fight against illegal drugs. "Automatic na yan."

However, unless the government's current strategy to respond to the country's drug problem is radically overhauled and the country's security forces are thoroughly cleansed of scalawags, whether it is the PDEA or Philippine National Police (PNP), the anti-drug campaign will continue to be abusive and corrupt-prone.

Hindi lang implementers ang may problema. Mas lalo na ang polisiya.

Also, the government's plan to include the military will add to the already chaotic situation. It will roll back the important gains in security sector reforms in the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP). It could also lead to unnecessary clashes between the military and PDEA. I am wary that allowing the AFP to implement a flawed and abusive style of war on drugs will only subject it to the same fate as the PNP.

May I remind the government that the military has a different mandate and orientation. It should not be dragged into civilian policing. While the military and PNP are both 'legal bearers of arms' they have different roles and training. The police force is for law enforcement and apprehension. The military is trained for combat duties. To blur these lines is not only dangerous, it is a throwback to Martial Law times. It is a nod to authoritarian leadership.

Ikaw Pa Rin ang Gusto Kong Leading Lady sa Teleserye ng Buhay Ko

Wazzup Pilipinas!

"Don't cry over the past, it's gone. Don't stress about the future, it hasn't arrived. Live in the present & make it beautiful!"

Alam mo ba kung ano yung masakit? Yung wala kang ka-date sa Valentine's Day!

Buti pa ang shoes may PAIR,
Ang calendar may DATE.
Pero ako, WALEY!

I feel so empty
Loss half of my life
Dahil walang lovey-dovey

Nganga pa rin ako, bes
Kahit na I did all my best
She treated me like pest

I am your "real talk" in a world full of "charot!"

Dahil love is in the air ... but only for those with a BF or GF.

Habang ako, nag-iinternet at kumakain. Char!

It hurts so much when you still have someone in your heart, but no longer in your arms.

As if parang may gusto kang inggitin at pag-selosin.

Madaming mag-jowang makikita.

Pero how long ba ang aking ipaghihintay, how long should I be patient enough to wait for the one who can replace you in my heart.

Eventualy, she will fall in love with me na rin.

Learn to wait and extend your patience because your right one is soon coming.

Nyak, who am I kidding?!

Kasi someone like each one of you is hard to find. Huwag makipag-sapalaran sa tsambahan or pwede na iyan. Treat them the very best way possible.

Ang pag-ibig ay paramg bulaklak. Kapag inaalagaan, namumukadkad. Pero ito ay para ring kape. Kapag pinabayaan, lumalamig!

You should want a relationship where people would be like : "Hanggang ngayon sila pa rin?"

Seriously, one day you'll realize that being alone isn't too bad at all.

"We should love, not fall in love. Because everything that falls gets broken."

We'll show you what we can do! Right here! Right now!

The start of 2017 has brought us great joy once again. Though we are are already used to receiving recognition or awards every year since we started our blog site way back 2013, we are still humbled whenever we get a notice of an award.

A first award for the year was a returning award-giving body that gave us an award a few years ago, now they've notified us again of another award.

We haven't formally received the first award for the year yet, when comes another e-mail from a different award-giving body notifying us of another award for the year. Of course we were overwhelmed especially that this is a new organization that has never contacted us before. But nothing comes close or compares to the experience we felt when we got another e-mail a few days afterwards that notified us of a third award for this year. OMG! For sure our bashers would be talking about us again. There would be memes coming out trying to make fun of us. But, hold your horses, fans... it's not our fault we have become a favorite blog.

Obviously, it's awards season again so we won't be surprised if this three awards would again be followed by more upwards throughout the remaining months of 2017. Hey! It's only February! It's just the start of teh year and yet we are already conquering the blogging community!

I know some of you would feel we are getting over our heads, or are heads are swelling up from all of these attention, but we are just overjoyed and proud we are getting noticed.

In short, we are truly humbled in receiving three awards notice for our Wazzup Pilipinas blog site for the year 2017, and hopefully still more awards will be coming soon! We promise to make sure we are all worth of the praise and commendations.

We all thank you for all the congratulations, but we've practically just began our adventure. It's just the tip of the iceberg, coz our real strength is not entirely visible to just about anybody. Thus, we are also inviting our readers to contribute your own news and stories to us. After all, we are a community blog, and aside from being well connected, informed, and engaged, you rightfully belong to be actively involved as well.

Send us your stories, and we'll be happy to publish them. Be part of our community!

From "Best" to "Babe" to "Break" Real Quick at #MMKWhenLoveGrows

Wazzup Pilipinas!

"and after all this time, I'm still into you.."

It's the most significant change I've seen in the world in the last 10 years. Ang madasaling si Santino, lumalandi na! Lol!

#MMKWhenLoveGrows tells a story of childhood friends Sandra and Mart who will fall in love at one point or another.

MMK's episode reminds us our first crush, first love, our first "best". Pabebe man ang MMK episode, still, we can't deny the fact that many of us can relate to it. MMK gave us a major throwback to the feeling when we had with our first crush. We can't help ourselves from smiling.

They say love is something we shouldn't hide but openly share. Kaya pag gusto mo ang isang tao, speak up. Falling in love in on our 1st teenage years is so exciting. That kind of love can never be matched again in our lives. However, sometimes, we may be too young to know better.

"Best may boyfriend na ako" That is how to break your bestfriend's heart! Ugh! It also works worst for girls. The sad reality of "akala ko" towards a boy who only considers you as a friend.

Wala nga kasing forever. Ang aga mo kasing lumandi. Iyan tuloy maaga ka din nasaktan.

But when your crush, crushes you back. Been there, done that! Hahahahahahaha. LOL!

The Filipino Komiks and Art Market "KOMIKET" Gears Up for its 3rd Year

Wazzup Pilipinas!

Artists, writers, readers and enthusiasts are expected to converge again in the third Filipino Komiks and Art Market (KOMIKET). This year, there will be two different events -- the February 25 (Saturday) Komiks and Art Market at the Elements at Centris and the February 26 (Sunday) Artist Talks at the U-View Theater at Fully Booked, Bonifacio Global City.

Whether you are a curious newbie or an art market enthusiast, organizers are inviting everyone to two days of fun as a way to support Filipino comics or "komiks."

SATURDAY ART MARKET
Meet and greet over 300 authors, illustrators and "komiks" creators who eagerly want to share what they have worked on the past few months. Get a first crack at their latest works, story compilations, graphic novels, stickers, postcards, art prints and original artworks up for grabs on February 25, Saturday, from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. at the Elements at Centris.

The Komiket Inc. will also release its first book, KOMIKS CUM LAUDE, a student comic book anthology featuring ten of the top student creators today: Mich Cervantes, Juan Carlos Panlilio, Aljon Perdon and Jose Victor Perey (De La Salle-College of Saint Benilde); Danielle Riña, Gia Duran, Danielle Dy-Liacco and Japhet Marquez (UP Diliman); Richard Mercado, Kevin Samala and Ianthe Pimentel (Ateneo de Manila University); Diklap Aytin (Ateneo Junior High School) and Tori Tadiar, Jess Santiago and Jez Nabong (Komiket’s Comic Book Creator’s Workshops).

SUNDAY ARTIST TALK

The winners of the Komiket Awards will also be announced. The Best Komiks, Best Komiks Writer, Best Komiks Artist and Best Student Komiks will win komikstarter prizes—a five thousand-peso reimbursable fund to help kickstart their next "komiks."

LOVE LOCAL, SUPPORT LOCAL
The KOMIKET aims to help cultivate, promote and nurture local creators who would like to share their work to more readers. To those who want to show their support, see you at the 3rd Filipino Komiks and Art Market. Entrance tickets to the market cost 50 pesos each. Registration to the talk is at 550 pesos.

Elements at Centris is located at Eton Centris, EDSA corner Quezon Avenue, QC. Fully Booked BGC is at B6 Bonifacio High Street, Bonifacio Global City, Taguig. Like KOMIKET on Facebook for more details.
