5 Tips for Tiptop Voice

Wazzup Pilipinas!

Imagine a world without VOICE.

Imagine for a second that no human being could produce voice. How would teachers educate? How would lawyers defend their client? How would salespeople, preachers or politicians convince people to buy in to their idea? How would singers sing their songs?

The voice is the most powerful sound in the world. While other sounds may be louder, only the human voice has the power to convey messages that could move, shape or shake the world.

As the VoiceMaster of the Philippines, I am a living testimony of how the voice is such a powerful force. For 20 years, my voice has not only brought thousands of brands and characters to life, but has also inspired and motivated millions of Filipinos around the world. It is with my voice that I am also able to empower other people to discover their own voice, through the organizations I have founded such as Philippine Center for Voice Acting, Voice of the Youth Network, Microphone Club and Voice Care Philippines.

Last April 16, the whole world celebrated World Voice Day. Various organizations from different parts of the world conducted their respective events to celebrate our most miraculous and powerful instrument, which is the voice. Here in the Philippines, we celebrated World Voice Day through a tribute to professional voice users – those whose occupations rely mainly on the voice. Through my radio programs and advocacy organizations, we published a podcast with tips on how to take care of the voice.

Binibining Pilipinas 2016 Grand Coronation Night Winners

Wazzup Pilipinas!

40 candidates vying for 6 coveted crowns. Who will win tonight?!?!
Even though tonight Pia Wurtzbach is giving up the crown, she will forever be our Miss Philippines!

KC Concepcion and Xian Lim host the Binibining Pilipinas 2016 Grand Coronation Night happening at the Araneta Center, also known as The Big Dome.

#BbPilipinas2016 candidates dance onstage. The ladies strut their stuff during the opening number with a Telepopmusik !!! I really love a good opening dance number and this one was reminiscent of the Commander production in Miss Universe 2010.

The #BbPilipinas2016 intro shows that rashguards are definitely in fashion now. I totally have a high respect for women who can still dance while using those...what...are they shoes...I mean heels!

The winners of the first four special awards has been recognized.

The Special Awards goes to:

Miss Friendship - Bb. 16 Vina Openiano
Miss Talent - Bb. 16 Vina Openiano
Best in National Costume - Bb. 3 Angela Fernando
Miss Photogenic - Bb. 31 Kylie Verzosa

Binibining Pilipinas 2016 judges include #MissUSA Olivia Jordan, Ian Veneracion and Paolo Roxas, the son of Mar Roxas.  Other judges include Laurenti Dyogi of ABS-CBN, Cory Vidanes of ABS-CBN, Ambassador Joseph Bernardo, Ambassador Igor Khovaev, Ambassador Jan Top Christensen, Ambassador Roland Remorteele, DTI Secretary Adrian Cristobal. How many diplomats do we have as judges again? No offense, I'm sure they are very good at what they do but ...

We also see some of the previous Binibining Pilipinas winners present at the Big Dome tonight! Paula Shugart is also in the house. Nichole Cordoves sizzles, loving Laura Lehmann's angelic face (Ateneo's courtside reporter! From courtside reporter to Bb Pilipinas host real quick) and Ariella Arida wins best outfit of the night. Slay girl, slayyy.

Fabio Ide and Bianca Manalo are also here to support younger sister Nichole Manalo.

Harapan ng Bise: The Vice Presidential Candidates Debate of ABS-CBN

Wazzup Pilipinas!

"We are on the process of courtship,I hope we wouldn't FALL for SWEET WORDS."

We got to know some insights from our Vice Presidential candidates from ABS-CBN's "Harapan ng Bise at 5:30 pm, which is also shown simultaneously on ANC HD.

Present in the debate are Chiz Escudero, Antonio Trillanes, Leni Roredo and Allan Peter Cayetano. The four VP candidates that are participating in the debate today are the most competent. I hope I can narrow my choice soon.

The two candidates, Gringo Honasan and Bongbong Marcos, with unexplained wealth according to their SALN's are absent. I guess that explains a lot. It would have been a spicier debate if BBM is present! BBM says he is celebrating anniversary with wife instead.

Why do I find this debate boring! This is more of like an extemporaneous speaking thing. There's something missing .. Am I the only one feeling that way?

Shining shimmering stage set up. Ramp. Q&A. I'm not sure if this festive theme is fit for a political debate because the stuff these candidates tackle are serious. The space provided for this debate doesn't encourage political inquiry and intelligence rather festivity and dumbfounded praise. Whoever thought of this format must be scratching his/her head right now.

Global FC Claims Third UFL Championship, Will Compete in AFC Cup in 2017

Wazzup Pilipinas!

GLOBAL FC made an outstanding comeback last Saturday night as it won 3-1 against Ceres-La Salle Football Club and claimed the 2016 United Football League (UFL) Championship.

Midfielder Misagh Bahadoran scored 2 goals for the team on the 21st and 56th minute, while Matthew Hartmann scored one other goal on the 24th minute. Ceres FC scored 1 goal. Bahadoran was also named Man of the Match.

GLOBAL FC which was founded in year 2000 and was described in AFC Quarterly’s July 2015 issue as “One of the leading sides in the Philippines and pioneers in football’s fast-growing development in the archipelago”, can now add in its long list of achievements 3 UFL League Championships for 2012, 2014 and now, 2016.

It was also the first Filipino Club to qualify for both the AFC President’s Cup in 2012 and the AFC Cup in 2015. And of late, because of the recent UFL 2016 Championship, the team also now has an automatic slot for the upcoming AFC Cup for 2017.

Coach Leigh Manson in an interview said, “the moment is a little bit of a buzz because winning the UFL Cup is great, but to know as well that we are going back to the AFC Cup is really, really exciting. That’s what we are really excited about, to know that we are going back to the AFC Cup, where the club belongs.”

DOE Statement Regarding ILP Participants

Wazzup Pilipinas!

The Department of Energy (DOE) expresses its appreciation to the National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP), Manila Electric Company (MERALCO) and the participants of the Interruptible Load Program (ILP) for their cooperation in hurdling a critical power supply situation in Luzon on 15 April 2016.

Under the ILP, big load customers of Distribution Utilities and Electric Cooperatives registered in the program run their stand-by generation sets in times of energy supply deficiency to prevent power outages.

The ILP was implemented in the MERALCO area on April 15 to stabilize the power supply situation following the "red alert" notice of NGCP from the period of 1p.m. to 3p.m. last Friday.

With ILP, the peak demand was arrested at a lower level of 9,416 MW. A total of 247 MW of power was deloaded from 121 participants, so an estimated 290,000 customers in Metro Manila and nearby provinces were spared of rotating brownouts.

The high and increasing heat index triggered the unusual rise in demand for power, where Luzon alone reached around 9,700 megawatts (MW) breaching historical records.

In this line, the DOE earnestly calls on the cooperation of electricity consumers to be efficient users not only during the summer period, but all throughout the year. Historically, power consumption spikes during hot summer months as more consumers spend time in their homes and use cooling equipment to make them feel comfortable.

Senatorial and Congressional Candidates Team Up for Health

Wazzup Pilipinas!

Senatorial candidate Risa Hontiveros and Representative Kaka Bag-ao campaigned together yesterday in Dinagat Islands. Bag-ao represents the Lone District of the province in the House of Representatives.

As they spoke to the crowd in one of the proclamation rallies of #TeamKAKA in the municipality of Cagdianao, they both recalled their similarities as public servants.

Both of them served as Akbayan Party-List Representatives—Hontiveros in the 13th and 14th Congresses; Bag-ao in the 15th Congress.

They also share the same advocacies. Hontiveros and Bag-ao, during their respective terms, became authors of the Reproductive Health Bill, which was enacted into law in the 16th Congress. Before Bag-ao was elected, she worked with Hontiveros in ensuring the passage of the Comprehensive Agrarian Reform Program Extension with Reforms (CARPER).

“She was the first person to teach me about how to be a good legislator,” Bag-ao told the audience.

Bag-ao also encouraged Dinagatnons to support Hontiveros in the coming elections especially because of her platform that centers on health.
