Wazzup Pilipinas: A Phenomenal Success (Awarding Ceremonies Closing Remarks Speech)

Wazzup Pilipinas!

This will be my speech for the Closing Remarks for tonight's awarding ceremonies which will be held at Hotel Rembrandt in Tomas Morato Avenue Extension of Quezon City.

I only wrote it last night so it's really what's on the top of my mind. It's not hifalutin as what most people would expect from a speech. I made as simple as possible but as meaningful as can be. After all, we are a simple blog site that grew into more than what it could possibly be  thanks to the many supporters who stood by our side and kept patting us on the back encouraging us that no matter how controversial or challenging the path less travelled.

We are still trekking the path that lead towards the most righteous destination. A destination that would remain endless - no end of the road for us - since life should be a continuous travel that should be filled with fun and fervor. Life should be what we want it to be and not what others expect it to be.

Many have said we are so stubborn to listen. But imagine what would have happened if we did. We would have not been at this particular point in our lives. We would have been just one of the guys trying to blend in. What we did was to stand out from the crowd. We created our own branding. We made our site the Pambansang Blog ng Pilipinas - unminding the hits, views, rankings, etc., - We did not concerned ourselves of the numbers because it does not really translate to what we really want to achieve - A legacy to be remembered by all Filipinos.

Lamudi, EasyTaxi and foodpanda Hold Secret Dining Society Event

Wazzup Pilipinas!

Three of the biggest Internet companies in the Philippines held a secret dining society for residents in Makati last March 26, 2015. The event was a roaring success, and proved to be an initiative that the teams will continue in the country.

The event took place at one of Lamudi’s trusted client’s developments - The Beacon Makati, and was hosted in the SkyLounge, which is at the 47th floor of the condominium. Views of the Makati Skyline, Manila Skyline and Laguna Bay provided a stunning backdrop to the exclusive affair.

The three companies held a competition over Facebook during the beginning of March, to allow people to win a seat in the Secret Dining Society. Private vehicles from Easy Taxi’s Easy Plus+ service were used transport the guests from a designated pick up point to the venue.

Daniel Torres, Managing Director of Easy Taxi in the Philippines said “We wanted everyone to have a great night, and take away the burden of traveling to and from the location for the guests. We organised pick up locations in well-known places, and coordinated closely with our drivers and the guests in ensuring everyone got a ride to the venue.”

The evening was opened by Lamudi Managing Director Jacqueline van den Ende, who commented that: “We are so glad that the event was a huge success, it was great to see everyone enjoy themselves and mingle with the other competition winners.”

Congratulations to Solaire Resorts and Casino's 1st Year Anniversary

Wazzup Pilipinas!

Solaire Resorts and Casino held its first year anniversary concert at The Theater @ Solaire last March 21, 2015 featuring Radha, Jed Madela and Regine Velasquez, with the Powerdance and 5th Gen as supporting acts for the show.

Your Pambansang Blogger ng Pilipinas was so ecstatic to be a part of the audience along with other media friends to witness outstanding performances from the said great artists especially Regine Velasquez who never ceased to amaze me with her powerful and soothing voice. She sang all-time favorites Dadalhin, Where Do I Begin, On the Wings of Love and did a duet with Jed Madela on Ikaw.

Jed Madela will forever be among the best performers with his remarkable voice. He sang Go The Distance, I Believe, and sang together with Radha and 5th Gen group and Earth, Wind and Fire Medley.

Radha, who sang Chains of Fools, Respect and All of Me, can very well sing among these two great talents of the Philippines who opened up the stage after performances by the Powerdance and 5th Gen group who sang Rolling in the Deep and Seasons of Love. Radha also joined Jed Madela and 5th Gen singing Bang Bang.

Chef Lau's Pugon Roasters at SMDC Light Mall Now Open

Wazzup Pilipinas!

The newest branch of Chef Lau's Pugon Roasters opened last week at SM Light Mall and Residences after an opening held at the same time the mall opened its doors to the public at around 4 pm of March 21, 2015.

Your Pambansang Blogger ng Pilipinas was among the invited guests who got to try out the fastgood dishes of the restaurant. As always, the branding of Chef Rolando Laudico and his chef wife Jacqueline "Jac" Laudico never fails to impress me. They are truly my favorite chefs of all time.

Aside form being very accommodating, the chef couple is always at all smiles to their guests who constantly request for photo ops and selfies with the two culinary masters.

Their partner in the business, Robi Raya, joins Chef Lau in the ribbon cutting ceremonies while a priest blessed the restaurant and its equipment and facilities.

Some celebrities passed by to greet the restaurant owners especially Chef Lau. I've seen Bea Binene with her mom trying out the food and cakes of the restaurant so I did the same - ordered up my own Sizzling Angus Roast Beef feast complete with a Blueberry cake for dessert.

You'll find high quality, modern Pinoy food at very affordable prices at Chef Lau's Pugon Roasters!

Galleria Duemila Presents Studies for a Monument of Felix Bacolor

Wazzup Pilipinas!

Galleria Duemila is pleased to present “Studies for a Monument”, a solo exhibition by Felix Bacolor, which features a synthesis of wall bound renderings, three-dimensional printed studies, and large-scale installation.

Studies for a Monument takes the form of an elaborate retracing of technique and process in artistic manufacturing. Here, collected digitally enhanced toy pig images and its 3-d printed versions map out the main work’s fabrication; a large-scale pig sculpture perched on a plinth. Such introspective practice captures the zeitgeist of Bacolor’s longstanding and unseen pig monument projects. Here, the artist positions his oeuvre to a rich possibility of discourse between collecting and repurposing objects and between working with digitized and tangible prototypes in manufacturing.

As with most of Bacolor’s outputs that deal with the tectonics of a fraudulent government, he appropriates the pig monument with social and political satire. The work stands in as commemoration to the country's bleak political landscape and concurs to the established definition of monumental as, “reference to something of extraordinary size and power, as in monumental sculpture, but also to mean simply anything made to commemorate the dead, as a funerary monument or other example of funerary art. The word comes from the Latin "monere," which means 'to remind', 'to advise' or 'to warn.”

PAMANA: An Architectural Heritage Conservation Exhibit

Wazzup Pilipinas!

PAMANA
is an architectural heritage conservation exhibit that will feature photographs and infographs of few chosen built heritage in Metro Manila that will run from March 27-29, 2015 at Green Sun Hotel, Makati City. Opening reception will be held on Friday, 27th of March at 7PM.

The exhibit is free to the general public. It also includes a heritage conservation forum on the second day, March 28, at 2PM with speakers from Escolta Revival Movement, Heritage Conservation Society - Youth and The Filipinas.

Because of Metro Manila’s fast paced urbanization, it has ceased to lose interest in its history and has let monumental structures deteriorate. With the help of photographs and infographics of chosen neglected built heritage such as the El Hogar Filipino, Ocampo Pagoda Mansion, Sunico House and Capitol Theater, the exhibitors aim to spread awareness about heritage conservation.

The exhibition comprises of three artists – Keiko Aramaki, Gabe Garrovillas and Julie Valencia – connected by the same interest in multimedia arts and in heritage conservation. The three exhibitors are all graduating students of Bachelor of Arts in Multimedia Arts and Design. Gallery Hours: Friday 7:00pm – 11:00pm / Saturday-Sunday 11:00am – 9:00pm
