School of Rock USA Opens First School in Asia and it is in the Philippines

Wazzup Pilipinas!

With more than a decade of successful experience teaching music, School of Rock has been teaching kids to rock on stage and in life. It’s the USA’s leader in kid’s music education from age 7 to 18. Including adults. We believe the best way to learn music is to perform music. Students learn from professional musicians that take them from the lesson room to the stage, develop both their confidence and musicianship through weekly private lessons and group rehearsals with the ultimate goal of performing live in front of real crowds.

School of Rock is an ingenious concept that gets kids and adults rocking out to the classics and on stage performing with their peers. Music programs are designed to create a supportive environment where music students of all skill levels are comfortable yet challenged at every turn. In addition to individual private music instruction on guitar, bass, vocals, keyboards and/or drums, students also learn how to jam with their peers in a weekly practice session. The team dynamic creates a supportive and motivating environment where kids feel inspired to excel.

All School of Rock programs are performance-based and emphasize the message that music is not just about playing an instrument; it’s about teamwork, building confidence, and creating leaders.

The Department of Transportation and Communications (DOTC) awarded its biggest Public-Private Partnership (PPP) project so far, the P 65-Billion Light Rail Transit Line 1 (LRT-1) Cavite Extension (Cavex) Project, to the Light Rail Manila Consortium (LRMC) yesterday, 12 September 2014.

“We are pleased to push the project forward for the sake of the riding public, especially those who live in the southern part of Metro Manila such as Pasay, Parañaque, Las Piñas, and Muntinlupa, as well as Cavite. This project will level the playing field for them, giving them convenient access to employment and educational opportunities in the metropolis,” said DOTC Secretary Jun Abaya.

LRMC now has twenty (20) days to comply with post-award requirements, including the payment of 10% of its P 9.35-Billion premium bid amount, after which the Concession Agreement may be executed by the parties.

The award is subject to the final decision of the Supreme Court (SC) with respect to the Common Station project, which will connect LRT-1, Metro Rail Transit Line 3 (MRT-3) and MRT-7 at the EDSA-North Avenue area.

BPI Opens Search for Ibang Klaseng Anak Expats

Wazzup Pilipinas!

There are regular students and there are exemplary students. And there are students who excel despite living away from their parents who work overseas. These are the OFW children who braved against distance and dependence and become Ibang Klaseng Anak Expats.

Ikaw, ibang Klase ka ba? This is the challenge posed by Bank of the Philippine Islands to Anak Expats nationwide as it launches the 2014 Search for the Ten Outstanding Expat Pinoy Children. Now on its 8th year, the Search continues to be one of the most prestigious awards given to children of Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) or “Anak Expats” who excelled in the academic and non-academic fields.

“We recognize the significant roles and sacrifices of our OFWs. We extend this recognition to their families as we continue to honor their children who excel in their studies despite being distant from their parents. Our Anak Expats are our OFWs source of strength and inspiration. Truly, our Anak Expats have been Ibang Klase and deserved to be honoured,” says BPI Executive Vice President Natividad N. Alejo.
