Skippy's Bar and Grill: Experience Australia One Skip at a Time

Wazzup Pilipinas!

Like kangaroos, bloggers seem to leap lightly about and move by hopping on one foot and then the other. Bounce, deflect, skim or ricochet from one point to another doing event hopping as if each venue were just at a very near proximity.

You really have to admire how most bloggers can easily manage their time to do several events for a day and successfully writes about it. Yeah, there may be delays but the whole point is they were able to help both themselves and the establishments that seek online presence.

Imagine being able to attend events held at different locations from North to South - sometimes going beyond the reach of the mass transportation system called MRT and LRT. They will hop on jeepneys, taxis, tricycles and pedicabs just to be there.

The passion to write is what drives bloggers to become resourceful, aggressive and creative. Reasons may vary a little but the entirety of bloggers find joy in being among the first to try out new products, learn about new things, and dine on sumptuous cuisines that the common people would not be able to gain access to.

An example is our foodie bloggers event at Skippy's Bar and Grill. The invitation to experience Australia at this restaurant was an overwhelming moment that would forever become a cherished part of our lives. Skippy's Bar and Grill is an Australian Sports bar and Steak Restaurant located in the Philippines! First branch: The Forum, Bonifacio Global City, Taguig specifically at Federacion Drive corner 7th Avenue after 26th Avenue.

De La Salle Health Sciences Institute: Nurturing Life for a Brighter Future

Wazzup Pilipinas!

The wallpaper design of their desktop wall were the words "Rest when you're dead, Challenge yourself." For me it was quite appropriate for our goals that persists. I could relate to the meaning since I am probably among those that even forget to rest if in the middle of an idea that is worth fulfilling. I believe I will only get tired, lose my motivation and lessen the flames of my burning desire if I pause for a while.

I love to pursue goals that would benefit as much people possible. I do it not just for me but for everyone else. There is something inside that is screaming for better living opportunities for my fellowmen. There is the need to bring out hope for a better future where people are united in one common goal - to serve the people.

This is why I admire organizations that were intentionally setup to make our lives better. Such as institutions that were created to further provide better education to our students. We all know that the opportunity to better employment starts from a a strong educational background which one could only get from a reputable school whose primary aim is to equip our children with enough knowledge to better serve the people.

Such an institution is the De La Salle Health Sciences Institute (DLSHSI) "is a full- complement medical and health allied institution that provides holistic, excellent, and premium health professions education, health care, and research services in a nurturing God-centered environment as it pursues its commitment of Nurturing life.

Brandon Vera and Rich Franklin Highlights One FC this December 5

Wazzup Pilipinas!

December 5, 2014 will be another highly anticipated date as One Fighting Championship (One FC) highlights it with the presence of Brandon "The Truth" Vera, one of the most dangerous big men in the mixed martial arts arena. He is the mean Muay Thai vicious machine that you should respect and fear both at the same time, if ever that is possible. He has struck terror to his every opponent because of his bludgeoning punches and thunderous kicks.

But what I like best with Brandon is that he is proud to say that he is a Filipino. He may not be pure Filipino due to his foreign blood of American and Italian, but he is truly a Filipino for being proud of it and making sure everyone knows about it, from the moment he steps on the ring and until he finishes his fight.

He humored us during the interview portion held at the NBA Cafe of SM Aura a few days ago with his almost fluent Tagalog or Filipino dialect that wowed the members of the media. His answer to every question was not as serious like the other guys who've been coming to the Philippines. This is probably because of the fact that he is happy to be at home here in the Philippines where he would have opportunities to go around and visit his roots and heritage.

Wazzup Pilipinas Original Short Stories Series: (UN)Intended

Wazzup Pilipinas!

This story greatly shows how men can easily dominate women. How they use their own natural strength to win over their captives. Their superiority over the inferior ones. But we can change this fact. We can change this by our decisions, by our own choices. We shouldn’t easily put our trust into them. We should follow our mind and instincts and it will lead us to the right path. Following our feelings are obscure decisions that shouldn’t be made.

Avery made a wrong decision when she agreed to come with Ysselb. First she was being reluctant but she followed her own heart. She brought her life to an end point. That was her mistake. Yes she gained information about the death of her twin and she had the chance to escape from the hands of Ysselb but it was too late.

Michele Obama quoted, you can't make decisions based on fear and the possibility of what might happen. From this, we should stand up for what we believe. We should face our situations courageously. In the end that was the choice you made, and it doesn't matter how hard it was to make it. It matters that you did.

New San Jose Builders Re-Launched Victoria de Manila 2 at the "I Love Manila" Open House

Wazzup Pilipinas!

More than a city, Manila is a breathing and living entity that has the power to captivate both its long-time residents and passersby. But as the Philippine capital continued to evolve through the years, it was able to keep pieces of its heritage through the walled streets of Intramuros and art deco buildings in Escolta.

Manila also boasts of the best sunset view at the baywalk along Roxas Boulevard. Also at the heart of the city is the iconic Luneta Park, which houses the historical Rizal monument as well as open lawns ideal for family picnics. A trip to Manila wouldn’t be complete without tasting authentic Chinese delicacies in Binondo and hunting for bargain finds in Quiapo and Divisoria.

Because of its distinct character and rich cultural history, New San Jose Builders Inc. (NSJBI) has chosen Manila as the location of its new high-rise condominium building—the Victoria de Manila 2.

To drum in its theme of “I love Manila,” Victoria de Manila 2 held an open house at Ibarra’s Garden, Ermita, last August 29, 2014. A motorcade was also held earlier along streets and barangays surrounding Victoria de Manila 2. There was also a short program held that night at the venue where they featured artists Los Viajeros, to the delight of the women crowd, and DJ Lara A of 107.5 Win Radio as host. Lots of prizes and games were given away to the attendees.

An Interview with Patch Dulay of The Spark Project

Wazzup Pilipinas!

"Sadly, there aren’t much readily available spaces for Filipinos to start-up and get the support they need to pursue their passions. In the areas of entrepreneurship, design, arts and culture, education, health, social advocacies, and causes; these initiatives fail to start, or in some cases scale, because they lack one of the most basic and crucial resources, funds.

On the other end of the spectrum, we have people and organizations capable of funding potential projects but are not adept with the logistics of reaching out to these initiatives.

Although existing forms of funding like venture capitalists, angel investors, grant giving bodies, and banking institutions are present; they are not readily available year-round and sometimes cater only to a specific niche. At the end of the day, only a few among hundreds of equally compelling ideas get the funding they need.

The Spark Project aims to change all of these and address the country’s need for more entrepreneurs and change-makers by democratizing the disproportionate distribution of funding capital.

The community that aims to showcase Filipino talent and ingenuity through an online crowdfunding platform where they can campaign to fund their creative, innovative, and passion-driven projects.

The team believes in the Filipino and its ability to create something awesome. It’s about time that we have our own crowdfunding platform in the Philippines."

Below is an interview with Patch Dulay, one of the founders of The Spark Project. Get to know more about him, his team and the "project" and be inspired to get involved as well.

The Misters of the Philippines 2014 Festival Costume Competition

Wazzup Pilipinas!

I have never heard of The Misters of the Philippines pageant ever since. It was only this year when there was a viral photo of one of the contestants online that got my attention. Here in the Philippines, the popularity of the female beauty pageants are very overwhelming but for the males, sadly it is not very known for this competition that according to its website it aims to find the most desirable and dynamic Filipino men who can make our country proud.

Last August 31st I had the chance to cover The Misters of the Philippines 2014 Festival Costume Competition at Fisher Mall, Quezon City . Aside from I am really curious of seeing a male pageant for the first time, I really look forward to have a photo with this 24-year old hunk policeman contestant who made my fellow girl friends swoon so hard.

As usual I arrived on time which is 6PM for their Festival Costume Competition but the contestants are just starting to rehearse. I saw them still wearing jeans and shirts so I had to chance as well to see them without make ups and outfits. After almost two hours, the show finally started. The very first question I asked from one of the usherettes is who among them is Neil Perez, the contestant whose photo became viral online. The guy gladly pointed his finger to him.

Wazzup Pilipinas Hits More than 2 Million Page Views In Just a Year and a Half

Wazzup Pilipinas!

In just a year and a half, your friendly neighborhood pambansang (national) bloggers are very proud to announce that your self-declared national blog of the Philippines has already reached more than 2 million page views in just a year and a half of being a dot com blog site.

We are very ecstatic to cherish this moment as we are already overwhelmed with the many recognitions conferred to us, and the several accomplishments we've had. We look forward to more achievements today, tomorrow, and beyond. We believe this is just the beginning of a more rewarding future for all of us.

It seems like just yesterday when we were struggling with just a few page views, and now our readers have gone extremely high in just a few months of being online. We owe everything to our supporters namely our correspondents with their contributions in both content and creativity that are very well appreciated, our sponsors and partners who believed in us, and to our friends and colleagues who collaborated with their own little ways.

The first 2 million would not have been possible if not for every suggestion, every reminder, and every effort that were put into the site. Wazzup Pilipinas would not have been successful if it were not for these people.

Ang Huling Lagda ni Apolinario Mabini

Wazzup Pilipinas!

The troika which is part of the hugely successful musical Ang Nawalang Kapatid-- Floy Quintos, Dexter M. Santos, and Krina Cayabyab collaborate once more in a play celebrating the sublime paralytic’s 150th birth anniversary.

Ang Huling Lagda ni Apolinario Mabini chronicles the last days of Apolinario Mabini’s exile in Guam and explores the conditions which spurred him to return to his homeland. The play is written by Quintos, direction and choreography by Santos, and original music by Cayabyab.

This musical in one act is, perhaps, the most significant contribution of the local theatre scene to the celebration of the sesquicentennial of Apolinario Mabini. While the musical explores the private pain of a hero forced to swear allegiance to the USA, Ang Huling Lagda ni Apolinario Mabini also instills a new pride and importance in his greatest work- the True Decalogue. The musical also allows audiences to be more familiar with the value of Mabini's greatest opus and strengthens their sense of duty to their country.
