Abaya Blaming Train Drivers on MRT Crash

Wazzup Pilipinas!

While the Metro Rail Transit management is still examining the
train crash last wednesday if it was a mechanical or human failure and while many asks who to put blame on DOTC Sec. Joseph Emilio Abaya concludes that blame to the two train drivers. He insists and had them booked by the Pasay City police.

Reading between the lines that’s certainly to cover up the real culprit: careless maintenance of the railway by the contractor, Marlo dela Cruz. Many do not know but dela Cruz is a close friend to Abaya....A Liberal Party’s friend.

A train derails as it went fast crashing its barrier at the terminal's Taft station on Wednesday, August 13.

The incident injured several passengers (at least 38) and causes a post to fall over a car. The story spreads right ahead making the whole day into panic mode.

Secretary Joseph Emilio Abaya's  comment on riding the MRT:

"Riding is a personal decision. I won't go on my way to convince people to ride the MRT." irked a lot of riders.

For many riders, this comment was like an insult.

Workshop Weekends: Make Your Weekends Count with PETA

Wazzup Pilipinas!

The weekdays often mean high intensity work and stress for young professionals and students. Luckily, the weekends are there to help them recharge and get away from all of the pressure; but since most of these people have been worn out to the point of zombification, weekends are spent catching up on rest and sometimes even finishing the work that was left over from the last week.

This July, the Philippine Educational Theater Association (PETA) pushes young professionals to make their weekends count with “Workshop Weekends”. The program encourages students and professionals to put their show face on and drop their paperwork (at least during the weekend) to work on their dreams of becoming a stage performer.

Freedom and self-expression

Stress. Work. Studies. Expectations. Although these are challenges in life that all must overcome, these can sometimes also become limitations for our aspirations and dreams. With “Workshop Weekends”, enrolees are given the chance to reach for the stars and discover who they truly are through artistic performance.

Tricia Garcia, previous enrolee and musician, claims that the Workshop Weekends, “gave [her] a big sense of freedom and self-expression.” She also says that the Workshop Weekends has taught her how to be unafraid of mistakes and criticism which in turn made her feel stronger and free of anxiety.

Chef Arch's Lime: Street Food na Pina-Sosyal sa Mandaluyong

Wazzup Pilipinas!

We've all seen how unsanitary street food are because they are prone to the pollution, the dust and the smoke, plus the elements of sun and rain, add to it the improper hygiene and lack of cleanliness by the vendors from their handling and preparation of the food, to the cooking and presentation to the customers  but Pinoys belonging to the lower class are mostly unaffected and rarely complain.

We don't care much about suffering from hepatitis or other kinds of diseases that we may get from food spoiled by the many factors surrounding the preparation of food and its source mainly because we cannot afford to be choosy. Like they said "You get your money's worth.

But I have to disagree especially when there are food spots in town that offers the same opportunity to feast on street food but with quality control. The bonus is that it gets to be served to you with a touch of "sosyal" or glamorously styled like that of gourmet dishes.Where else can you find "isaw" (chicken intestine) as among the toppings for a pizza? or our favorite ice scramble served the way you'll enjoy it more?

You can find gourmet street food at Chef Arch's Lime that will truly make you think twice of returning to "Manong" at the street corner. Though they still have only one branch, it's being frequented by a lot of people from the neighborhood, nearby cities, and as far as the places you wouldn't imagine being there.

They've been featured in many newspapers, magazines, TV shows and blogs for their unique touches on dishes that modernizes street food into a higher level.

Areeya Belle L. Cruz: Miss Tourism World Philippines Candidate from Pasig City

Wazzup Pilipinas!

Meet one of the candidates for Miss Tourism World Philippines 2014. She is Areeya Belle L. Cruz, 20 years old from Barangay Maybunga of Pasig City. Since I live in the same barangay, I guess it is but appropriate that I support the candidate coming from our turf. Who else should help each other but our very own "ka-barangay."

Areeya Belle is currently a 4th year Bachelor of Science in Tourism Management at the Polytechnic University of the Philippines (PUP) located at Sta. Mesa Manila. She is currently a Training Director (Catwalk Trainor) at the PUP Icons (organization) under the University Center for Culture and the Arts (UCCA).

Tourism World Philippines is not just another beauty pageant where girls parade with their swimsuits and evening gowns, the organization aims to support our Tourism Industry in promoting our country to be one of the world destinations.

In response to the government’s call to promote tourism culture and art among Filipinos and other countries, Mr. Francisco Z. Blanco Jr., heeded that call 2 years ago with a main mission to generate awareness and interest in the country’s cultural heritage and uphold the Filipino culture as a source of pride for the Filipina as they gain international recognition. In the continuous mission to uplift the global image of the Philippines and boost local tourism in the country, he then has partnered with 2 brothers in Christ, Bro. Bernard Go and Bro. Jojo Ruiz who believes this could be a great vehicle to make a difference.

Havoc in Manila: Pilipinas Aguilas Friendly Match with the Western Australian Raiders

Wazzup Pilipinas!

The Pilipinas Aguilas - National Tackle Football Team of the Philippines presented a test run of its ImPACT (I Am Pilipinas Aguilas Club Training Pool) program last weekend that featured Havoc in Manila, a friendly match with the Western Australian Raiders and a free open football clinic at the Emperador Stadium located in McKinley Hill, Bonifacio Global City (BGC).

The team earlier held a press conference at Skippy’s Bar and Grill at BGC a few days ago to share the program to the members of the media. According to the ATFAP officials who were part of the panel, they are holding the event as part of their commitment to promote the sport and build a program to prepare them and future team members for the 2016 IFAF Asian competition. Anybody, whether Filipino or foreigner, can register and be part of the pool and undergo training to develop their individual fundamentals and skills under the Pilipinas Aguilas.

The Pilipinas Aguilas lost at a previous match last April at Tokyo, Japan mainly because their few months of training does not entirely qualify them as a sufficient force to battle against opponents with several years of advantage. They know that their weakness is the apparent non-existence of significant opportunities for training of existing and potential members. This is why they are very keen in establishing a program that will make the sport easier to access by those who are very much interested to be a part of the team.

The opportunities offered at these events should not be missed by all concerned with our overall welfare.

At a press conference held last August 12, 2014 at the Blackboard restaurant of the Podium located in Ortigas Center, the panel was composed by Clinica Manila CEO and PCCI Regional NCR-Central Sector sector Governor Dr. Hernando Delizo, A.R.M Skin Essentials Corporations Sales Manager Alma Dizon, Global Medical Technology Manila Inc., VP for Sales and Marketing Jojo Alejandrino, Innovation and Concepts Founder and Chairwoman Baby Cruz, Philippine Daily Inquirer AVP for Classified Advertising Jessie Rebustillos, PMAP Director Mitch Guce, Tourism World Philippines Media and Public Relations Director Candy Monasterio-Tuazon, Healthway Medical VP for Sales and Marketing Carmie De Leon, and Ex-Link Events CEO Michelle Ballesteros.

It would be interesting to see how things will unfold when our fellow men all gain access to a multitude of possibilities to network and interact with these businesses. Many of us have become firm with the acceptance that a great outlook in life begins with healthy living. Everything else becomes easy when we are free of stress and sickness, or when we at least know how to control or moderate our lifestyle towards a better  and healthier life.

You won't find any other event as similar and as big and comprehensive as this one. Everyone is looking forward to several days of informative, entertaining and beneficial events.

Profilers of the Unknown: Ghost Tour with the Paranormal Investigators

Wazzup Pilipinas!

I was really hoping I could see a ghost during my lifetime. I'm your typical skeptic who would love to dare everything around me. I feel that life is too short that I want to experience everything possible. My bucket list is so full I need a second, and third one perhaps...or maybe an infinite number just to satisfy my thirst for the unexplained.

I have that real desire to find out the truth behind the mysterious and enigmatic. You cannot imagine the huge overwhelming persistence to get out there and discover the answers to our many questions. There are so many things I would prefer to tackle directly and upfront, and confronting ghosts are among them.

Ghosts are said to be former living beings that could not separate themselves from the worldly desires. They couldn't leave our world and are doomed to repeat a portion of their lives endlessly. It's like an incomplete task that needs to be fulfilled somehow. But no one could really provide an explanation that is fully supported by logical, technical and scientific evidences. There would always be disbelief when there are so many baffling questions looming around.

Chili Asylum: The Taste That Deliciously Lingers

Wazzup Pilipinas!

I was so curious with the name of the brand that I went out of my way to communicate with the owner directly via email. I got her card from a previous foodie event that I attended a few weeks ago and got so hooked on the taste of the sample. I really wanted more but there were just too many food concessionaires that day that i decided to hold my eagerness and craving and try the others for the meantime.

Sadly, I never got to finish even half of the 75 food providers that day, but interestingly, the taste of this particular dish lingered all throughout the day even after I went home all bloated and sleepy already due to the many food samples we got to enjoy at the event.

I was impressed with a few of the food and Chili Asylum was amazingly distinctive. Thus I searched deep into the spot where I kept all the business cards I got from the event and emailed Isi Laureano, self-proclaimed "Chefotographer." I figured it's an artsy way of describing her multi-skilled professions. She must be a Chef and a photographer rolled into one. Nowadays, you make your own designation similar to how I call myself a "Social Media Evangelist" mainly because I'm an opinionated social media specialist who loves to do sermons among my friends and acquaintances.

Infinity Resort of Puerto Galera, Oriental Mindoro: The Ultimate Luxury Getaway

Wazzup Pilipinas!

There are moments when words are not enough to express how we feel. A moment when we are completely enthralled by the beauty of a place that we cannot help but stare and wonder how they were able to setup such a magnificent paradise-like destination. The amazing structures built with architectural superiority and miraculously surrounded by the solemnity of nature brings us to an overwhelming state of admiration.

The Infinity Resort located in Puerto Galera of Orienta Mindoro was artistry brought into the highest level.Every corner of the place was Instagram-worthy that I probably posted quite a number of photos on those three days and two nights of stay. We were in a heavenly and peaceful place embraced by the sun, the sea and the mountains. Everything you ever wanted in a vacation spot was there. You would not ask for more

Our weekend at Puerto Galera was more like meant to be a honeymoon adventure for newly-wed couples. It has all the makings of a romantic ambiance that seemingly calls for lovers to visit and fall deeply in love more with each other. This is where you will take anybody you want to impress or fall in love with you.
