Sugarleaf Announces Learning Events for First Half of 2014

Wazzup Pilipinas!

With much excitement Sugarleaf announces its learning activities for the first half of 2014. Join us in any or all of our activities.

More than juicing, Juice Therapy! A workshop by Sugarleaf on 8 March, 230 to 430pm at Sugarleaf Makati and 22 March at Sugarleaf Greenhills

Juicing will be the IN thing this 2014 and is expected to stay unlike fad and yoyo diets that usually don't work and leave one feeling deprived.

Join us in a fun interactive two-hour workshop on juicing at Sugarleaf Makati with our resident Juice Therapist Rman Lorenzo who created Juice Therapy or JT, a smarter more sustainable approach to juicing.

JT is the result of much research on the health benefits of juicing (more than just detox and weight loss) and combining organic and naturally grown fruits and vegetables into delightfully delicious and colourful elixirs.

Da Who of Social Media: Intriguing Facts Revealed Online?

Wazzup Pilipinas!

As what one netizen once said "Yesteryear's issues pale in comparison to what we have today."

Ironically one would post "Kung may "kaaway" ka, dapat yung away sa inyong dalawa lang. Hindi yung mandadamay ka pa ng ibang taong wala namang kinalaman sa gulo nyo. Unless may sumawsaw in your defense, otherwise keep other people out of it. Of course you can always go to your friends for sympathy. Your truest friends can advise you kung nasa tama ka ba o mali."

But why constantly rant online about other people and entertain comments from friends who would either make the matter worst by adding further insults and side-topics against the person in discussion, or exaggerate to the extreme claiming the person is making it look bad for the entire community. Wow! Is the accused that influential to claim responsibility for all? Does he represent all his peers from the same industry? It's like telling everyone that a mistake of one is the downfall of many.

You are going against what you were saying. You are sharing the news with the rest of the world and social media has a way of making rumors go viral especially when your online friends are rumor-mongers like you. Don't you understand that social media may be the best for crowd-sourcing but it is also the most effective way to make or break a reputation.....not only of the person you are humiliating, but also of yourself.

Wally Bayola is Back at Eat Bulaga: I'm Back and I'm Sorry!

Wazzup Pilipinas!

If  we'll combine the words of Gen. Douglas MacArthur and former President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo, the former noontime co-host would probably say "I'm back, and I'm sorry!"

Wally Bayola, the very controversial comedian who was involved with a sex scandal with EB Babe Yosh, returns to GMA 7's blockbuster and all-time hit noontime variety show Eat Bulaga as seen at the "Juan for All, All for Juan" segment of the show. Click on teh link to see the video.

Paolo Ballesteros and Jose Manalo welcomed back their long-time friendly neighborhood partner as they go through one of the "barangays" of a certain city. The good thing about Wally is that he accepted that he committed a sin and asked forgiveness in front of millions of Eat Bulaga viewers. Repentance is one way to open heaven.

That's what a sinner could only say after all "sorry", and always accepted! Just a matter of fact that "Juan for All, All for Juan" is not complete without the 3 brothers, Paolo, Jose and Wally. So welcome back Wally, as every Juan say "you deserve a second chance."

Tado Jimenez: The Death of an Artivist

Wazzup Pilipinas!

Did you know that days before comedian Tado Jimenez, whose real name is Arvin Jimenez, unfortunately met his demise along with 14 others at a bus accident at the Bontoc town somewhere at teh Mountain province, he posted online: "North or South....cemetery?" His last post was an Instagram photo of his bus - the bus that took him to his final resting place, heaven.

Many fans, friends and colleagues are now mourning his untimely death. I share my deepest sorrow for Tado was a partner in one of my online campaigns for a certain online marketplace. I've personally communicated with the man so it is with great disappointment that he has to leave us so soon. I have a photo of the two of us together but I can't seem to find it among the bulk of other online photos I have, but will surely post it here as soon as I find it.

Tado was an artist as seen from his works and achievements in his chosen professions as tattoo artist, book author, and comedian among many others. He is also an activist as he is very much involved in political movements and advocacy programs that deals with society, good governance, and love for nature and the environment. In fact he was at the Mountain Province because of a project dealing with such.

Flappy Bird Going Down? Game Developer Tweets!

Wazzup Pilipinas!

Well, that screenshot above is definitely "photoshopped" because no sane person has even reached a Guiness World Record for the latest fad since Angry Birds. I haven't even made a respectable score in the latest mobile gaming fad known as Flappy Bird when I've read of news that the Vietnamese creator is bringing the patience-and-sanity-required game down soon.

Developer Dong Nguyen announced the decision on Twitter just a few hours ago:
“I am sorry Flappy Bird users, 22 hours from now, I will take Flappy Bird down. I cannot take this anymore. It is not anything related to legal issues. I just cannot keep it anymore. I also don’t sell Flappy Bird, please don’t ask. And I still make games.”
My guess, with the amount of online flack and hate the developer has been getting because of how difficult the game is (Only one life? Damn!), he probably grew a conscience and getting ready to make a different or revised version he will be calling a different name soon. Or is Nintendo suing him for the blatant rip-off from their games?

Vibal and HP Unites to Form the Perfect Together Partnership Beyond Printing

Wazzup Pilipinas!

Many companies have already gone digital and have openly embraced the fast-changing innovations to keep up with the ever increasing technology savvy consumers. If you'll look around, almost everyone has a smartphone or tablet (many have both and more than just one unit) that they use to communicate, do business, and get entertainment.

You'll definitely be left behind if you do not implement online strategies within your business. Almost everything can now be done over the Internet that the near future may turn out to be pure e-commerce. The day may come that it will be truly paperless and the whole world would only travel just for leisure.

The Vibal Group is one of those companies that has realized the significance of having online alternatives for their publishing. In partnership with HP, a leading technology provider, Vibal transforms their products and services into a more dynamic state-of-the-art solution that is "beyond printing".

High Five Yahoo: An Appreciation Night for the Media

Wazzup Pilipinas!

Yahoo Philippines celebrates 5 years of being in the Philippines by showing that they know how to appreciate the people who have helped them spread the word and who else would that be but the media of course.

Last night, Yahoo Philippines had an event called the High Five Yahoo: An Appreciation Night. High Five because they are already 5 years old in the Philippines and it definitely deserved a high five because in such a short time, they have been able to achieve so much.

High Five Yahoo: An Appreciation Night had games and a lot of freebies given away last night. They also held a Rockeoke were people from the media were asked to sing an entire song with a live band. The feeling was surreal. It was awesome.

Globe to Work Closely with NTC on Fair Use Policy Implementation

Wazzup Pilipinas!

Globe underwent a massive network modernization program two years ago in order to increase capacity and improve network performance. “We now have the most improved network in the country designed for the modern digital lifestyle of Filipinos,“ says Atty. Froilan Castelo, General Legal Counsel of Globe Telecom.

“We recognize that our customers have varying needs of data usage. Consumer demand for data is steadily growing brought about by changing lifestyles and the influx of smartphones. It is only safe to assume that a consumer’s data use will increase as they start enjoying the various platforms on digital and social media. This is the reason why we invested millions of dollars to modernize our network, built international submarine cable systems, and created customizable product offers to give our customers a superior data experience,” adds Castelo.

Globe first implemented its fair use policy in 2010 covering prepaid calls, texts and data promos. The company enforced the policy for postpaid data plans only last month. Even in the past until today, fair use only affects a small number of subscribers. This is necessary to protect the network against abuse, examples of which come in the form of unli promos meant for consumers but are used for business, text spamming using prepaid unli promos.

Get the Chance to Watch Ken Block Gymkhana with Ellen Adarna

 Wazzup Pilipinas!

Every men become somewhat like a monster at the sight a pretty woman (drooling and eye-popping experience plus a tingling feeling deep within), especially when its as alluring and provocative as Ellen Adarna - men's magazine's favorite cover model and a rather controversial celebrity right now because of her admitted friendship with turning underdog Cedric Lee form the Vhong Navarro and Deniece Cornejo rape, or extortion, case - whatever it was only the three lead characters would know the truth.

That's probably why a media member at the Monster Energy Drink Ken Block's Japan Experience launch held at the Makati Shangri-La hotel couldn't help but try to associate Monster with Cedric Lee thinking she can get away with it. Unfortunately, no answer was given to her out-of-place question (After the warning that all questions should be related to the product and the promo).

Other than introducing Ellen Adarna as Monster Energy drink's brand ambassador, it was also the launch of their promotional event namely Ken Block's Japan Experience where 3 lucky pairs get a chance to join Ellen Adarna to go watch Ken Block Gymkhana in July 2014!

Cherie Gil Set To Play Fashion's Grand Dame in Full Gallop

Wazzup Pilipinas!
Noted fashion columnist, editor and International Best Dressed List hall of Fame awardee Diana Vreeland worked for fashion magazines Harper's Bazaar and Vogue and as a special consultant at the Costume Institute of the Metropolitan Museum of Art. She was a major force in shaping culture, style, taste and even language for all time.

Our favorite antagonist and the most sophisticated "kontrabida" of Philippine cinema who made life miserable for Sharon Cuneta during the old days at the very memorable role at "Bituing Walang Ningning" along with her famous line "You're nothing a but a second-rate, trying hard copy-cat!" will play Diana Vreeland in Mary Louise Wilson and Mark Hampton's Full Gallop - a play that focus on the life of the fashion doyenne who stood at the center of American style for five decades. The play is a portrait of this remarkable woman at a turning point in her life.

At a presscon held at Salon De Ning located at the Manila Peninsula hotel, Cherie Gil shared with us her excitement in playing the role of Diana Vreeland. She was joined by Director Bart Guingona, fashion designer Rajo Laurel, celebrity Giselle Toengi and make-up and hairstylist Ruben Nazareth.
