RJ Ledesma Launches His 5th Book Playing with Pink Parts at National Bookstore

Wazzup Pilipinas!

My parents remember RJ Ledesma fondly as the kid endorser of a softdrink brand, but I got to know him more popularly as a host cheering up his audience with his wild and crazy antics but with a class and sophistication above the other comedians that usually just use street jokes. His jokes are way above the usual stand-up comedies.

"He has gone a long way from those Sunflower biscuits and Ebisen crackers ads.....and Royal Tru-Orange!"

This guy must be smart and a literary genius for being the Editor-in-Chief of UNO Magazine, and an expert businessman/entrepreneur for coming up with a remarkable series of seasonally available night food markets (among many other things I'm sure because he did mention he was a Real Estate Developer during the book launch) that has most probably done well because of it frequent occurrence all over the Metro.

He now has a handful of books (5 to be exact) available to continue with what he does best : make people laugh with naughty yet classy humor. The latest book is entitled "Playing with Pink Parts : RJ Ledesma’s Guide to Gayumas Aphrodisiacs and Love Spells" and was recently launched last September 20 at the National Bookstore Glorietta 1 branch.

Congratulations to RJ Ledesma @rjled for a very successful book launch!

Collecticon 2013 at Robinsons Place Manila : Collectibles to the Extreme!

Wazzup Pilipinas!

There was so much stuff at the Collecticon 2013 "bazaarista" event held at the Robinsons Place Manila Midtown Atrium last September 20 to 21!

It was supposed to be a three-day event with a third day scheduled on Sunday September 22, 2013 but was cancelled due to unavoidable circumstances to give way to an in-house mall event. The organizers have shared their deepest apologies for the very short notice of cancellation.

Regardless of the cancelled third day, many were lusting for those Gundam kits and those little pink Zakus. Many also checked out those Manic Panic jars!

Several toy items were available for bidding for as low as a few pesos too low to be called lunch money. Thousands of toys were all over the venue with various price ranges. If you are truly a collector, you will be able to identify which among the toys are real "collectibles".

More than the Triumph

Wazzup Pilipinas!

They say that we write our own life's story. That we are the only ones who can travel our own journey, make our own path, and achieve our own goals. But we, PaScian journalists of the year 2013 decided to take one path together : the path towards triumph.

Last August 19 , the Division Secondary Schools Press Conference  (DSSPC) officially opened for the schools, private or public, with the aspiring student journalists. And of course , for our dearest Alma Matter, we did not allow that to pass. The hand picked students from grade seven to fourth year by Miss Riza Zuniga were united to represent the school for the said competition.

Miss Supranational Mutya Datul : Inspiring Life Story on ABS-CBN's Rated K

Wazzup Pilipinas!

"Mutya Johanna Fontiveros Datul, 21, was crowned as Miss Supranational 2013 in a lavish coronation pageant held at the Sports Palace in Minsk, Belarus.

Datul, a 5’8” beauty who hails from Sta. Maria, Isabela in northern Philippines, bested 82 other delegates worldwide to become the first Asian champion in the 5-year history of the global beauty pageant, succeeding Katya Buraya of Belarus, last year’s winner.

Before Datul’s proclamation as the winner, the hosts kept the viewers in suspense by hinting that “…the new Miss Supranational is a brown-eyed brunette who comes from a land of beautiful people far, far away…"
After watching the life story of @RealMutyaDatul on Rated K, I can't help but get inspired and amazed on how she remained a humble individual. Mutya Datul's life story is very inspiring. You really have to believe in your dreams because dreams do come true! I love you, Miss Supranational 2013! Beauty queen with a touching personality.

National conference on Language and Literature : Conferring Conference

Wazzup Pilipinas!

I have attended several seminars, conferences and gathering of educators which all aim to refresh teachers with certain pedagogies, to discuss new trends in education as well as academe-related issues which I think are a rehash of the old ones. Hence when someone invites me for another conference I would just smile and blatantly say “thank you”.

Last Sept 10-12 2013, I was asked to join the National Conference for Language and Literature sponsored by CETA. Thinking it was like any other usual conferences, I didn’t bother to prepare. I just took my pen and my notebook and wait for the dawn of the great ennui. Seated at the last row, I browse at the copy of the program, wishing for the seminar to start. Then my eyes caught a familiar name, the keynote speaker in this conference is no other than the national artist F. Sionil Jose. I began to be uneasy. I want to go home to get the book THE PRETENDERS and ask him to sign it.

The program started and I could not wait to see him. Then he walked to the stage. I couldn’t feel the aura of being the national artist in him although I must admit that there was something in him that I couldn’t explain. He got the microphone and asked if there were any among us who lives in Rosales, Pangasinan. I wanted to raise my hand, stand and forget that I come from Rizal. However, he might talk to me in his dialect and it would really be embarrassing if I would not be able to respond properly.

Pistang Journalist

Wazzup Pilipinas!

Last September 3, 2013 was the closing ceremony of the 20th Division Secondary Schools Press Conference at the Division Office of Pasig. But it was also the day of our “Pistang Pinoy” in school. Even though we
were anxious to find out who of us would get a medal in our individual categories, I couldn’t stop thinking
about the Pistang Pinoy happening in our school. I wanted to go back to school so that I could eat, and
celebrate with my classmates. But instead I was sitting inside a room sweating my nerves out, because of the nervousness.

As the winners were being awarded it took some time before we heard on of out names being called, all-in-all we won in 11 individual categories and ranked 3rd among all the schools that joined. Sadly, I didn't win in any category but I still had a great time with fellow Pascians. It was my first time being with some of them, but it felt as is I've always known them. After the four day press conference, we not only became friends, but we became a family.

Michelle Gumabao Poses Artistically Nude For Toby's Sports Store

Wazzup Pilipinas!
"Some people have petty and shallow minds. For me, this photo is beautiful and made the model really beautiful. Really, what's the fuss?" - Michelle Baena CiriaCruz
De La Salle University volleyball player Michelle Gumabao shows off her athleticism in this nude pictorial for Toby's sports store. This photo was grabbed from Michelle Gumabao's Instagram page.

The Lady Spiker and UAAP MVP Awardee appears to be completely naked with just a few splashes of water concealing her body parts in a pictorial taken by photographer Jojit Lorenzo. The pictorial is part of a campaign by Toby's sport store and also features San Mig Coffee player James Yap and Philippine Azkals' Neil Ethridge.

It is surprising that her father, being a pastor, gave Michelle the blessing to push through with the provocative "action shots" portraying her in a volleyball competition.

Aerodance Competition : Winning Is Our Greatest Achievement

Wazzup Pilipinas!

PCSHS Students of IV-Copernicus goof around and laugh their hearts out as they wait for the shot to be taken. After waiting months for this Aerodance Competition, it finally pushed through. And to share this huge success, Class of IV-Copernicus got the third place.

Aerodance Competition has already become a yearly tradition of Pascians, especially the fourth year class. It is one of the events that are really worth waiting because each class prepares a really entertaining and appropriate dance. Normally, all students watch this event including some alumni class.

In the said event, IV-Lewis got the second place, who showed a really amazing and extravagant performance. And lastly, the champion, IV-Berzelius. They showed everyone a really fun and amazing performance among the other contestants. They used an appropriate song and a nice dance choreography. They really deserve the place.

The Final Fiesta : My Last Pistang Pinoy

Wazzup Pilipinas!

I can honestly say that the “Pistang Pinoy” is one event I will miss once I graduate from high school and go to college, since colleges usually don’t have these celebrations. I will miss all the laughter, the games, the fun times, and so much more. But actually I will miss the food.

Every year I get to try yummy Filipino foods, and since this is our last year we went all out. For a reasonable price we were able to hire a catering service (which happens to be my classmates’) to prepare food for us for the event. This was the first time I have experienced being catered for our Pistang Pinoy and I enjoyed it a lot. Not only did we save on energy and effort, but we were also able to feast on some very delicious food.

We had tender and smoky pork barbecue on sticks, which became one of my personal favorites.

We also had sisig, which is another favourite of mine. Although, this time I did not fully enjoy it since there was a bit of a bitter taste from the pork liver. But it was still delicious.

Cheong Kwan Jang Korean Red Ginseng Store Opens at SM City North EDSA

Wazzup Pilipinas!

Yesterday, September 21, 2013 to be exact, I met some stunning and popular individuals gracing a memorable event. This meeting happened in the store opening of Korean Red Ginseng - Cheong-Kwan-Jang at SM City North Edsa.

I attended the event together with my fellow teacher and friend, Mr. Alson Fernandez. We were sent to the said occasion by Ross Del Rosario, founder of WazzupPilipinas.com to represent the blog as its correspondents. Ross was not available that day because he was at another event to accept an award for WazzupPilipinas.com for being one of the Top Ten Emerging Influential Blogs of 2013.

The Korean Red Ginseng store is eye-catching, pleasant, hygienic and very pleasing to everyone’s eyes. I was fascinated with the Korean dance presented at the start of the program. I took pictures of the different brands of ginseng with the following uses: support the immune system, bodily stamina and fatigue resistance, enhance physical energy, support memory functions and too many to mention.

You can visit their site for more information and uses of ginseng products – http://www.ckj.com.ph.

When I received an email coming form the organizers that Wazzup Pilipinas won, I didn't expect that it would be ranking high among the top ten list. I learned about this fact from some of the winners who patiently tabulated the results by checking each and every vote. Wow!!!

It is with great honor that I accept this award in behalf of the many other individuals who have, in one way or another, greatly contributed to the success of Wazzup Pilipinas. They know who they are and their efforts are greatly appreciated!

National Conference on Language and Literature: Language and Literature at the Crossroads; Teaching Terrains, Research Routes, Learning Landscapes

Wazzup Pilipinas!

I marked these dates, September 10, 11 and 12 as one of the most significant days of my life as an educator because I learned a lot from the different GURUS OF EDUCATION here in the Philippines. University of Philippines, College English Teachers Association, Council of Department Chairpersons for English and Primetrade Asia Inc joined forces to come up with this one of a kind conference nationwide.

I felt so blessed because I’ve got the free slot from the newly awarded WazzupPilipinas.com as one of the Most Emerging Influential Blogs of 2013 to cover the entire event.

In general, this event was a great success. I congratulate all the organizers of the said event for being so munificent in sharing your time, talent, skills and resources to all educators out there.

Here are the highlights of the said event:
