Smartphone Quick Snap vs SLR Quality Snap

Wazzup Pilipinas!

Today’s world is more image-centric than it ever was before. Whether you’re a Facebook fanatic, a Pinterest user, or an avid blog writer, there’s no denying the importance of a good image to attract engagement from friends and readers.

Fortunately, with the rise of quality and affordable cameras, making photo memories to share with your family, friends, and readers is easier than ever. In fact, most people today own more than one camera—a SLR (single-lens reflex) camera and a smartphone camera—which they use for different purposes.

You probably use your smartphone camera when you just want to snap a few quick photos of a local landmark or your night out with friends, or when you don’t want to worry about your camera in a crowded place like a concert venue or a theme park.

On the other hand, you probably use your SLR camera when you want to make sure you’re taking the best quality images at a special event or while you’re on holiday. Let’s take a look at few of the best smartphone cameras and SLR cameras to suit all of your photo needs.

Let Me Be the One: Philippines vs. Japan

Wazzup Pilipinas!

If I were to ask you to choose between JAPAN and the PHILIPPINES, which country would you choose?

Your homeland? or the country you've been adoring ever since?

It's like you're choosing between the person you love because it's where your heart belongs and the person that loves you because you've been with that person for a long time.

Well, this question is related to the topic of this article that I will discuss later on. It's about the difference between the culture of both countries I mentioned earlier.

So what party would you choose? Is it the team Philippines or the team Japan? Cast your votes on the comment box after reading the article :)

Let's start..

Priority Development Assistance Fund (PDAF) : A Farewell to the Pork Barrel

"There's wisdom in weighing all factors before making a decision,
there's strength in making it on your own terms, your own time,
specially if you're the leader of your country, for the good of all~

Haters will hate, idots will sound idiotic, but the fact remains that PNoy
consistently makes the strong, right decisions at the perfect, right times.
I'm proud and grateful to have this man as the President of the Philippines." - Spanky Enriquez

Wazzup Pilipinas!

I have to agree with what a Facebook friend has posted above on his Facebook status. Our president is not a man who could quickly come up with decisions but I give him the benefit of the doubt that he is slow because he takes careful consideration of all matters related to the issues.
We hear him say this at a Malacanang presscon only three days before a netizen-organized rally against the congressional pork barrel will be held in Luneta. The declaration was just last Friday informing the Philippine nation that he was abolishing the corruption-tainted funding vehicle officially called the Priority Development Assistance Fund (PDAF) but more popularly known as the "pork barrel".
I've seen all the comments across my Facebook timeline and somehow most of them still have something negative to say about the President despite of his recent stand.

Seemingly departing from his earlier stand, President Benigno "Noynoy" Aquino III on Friday said it is time to abolish the PDAF. It was a turnaround from Aquino’s position before saying that the pork barrel fund had its “good uses” and should not be junked.

Lamoiyan Tree Planting and SL Agritech Partnership : A Genuine Love For The Environment And People

Wazzup Pilipinas!

As fully Filipino-owned Lamoiyan Corporation, known for producing quality toothpaste brand Hapee, celebrates its 25th anniversary this year, it never failed to bring world-class quality yet affordable products that had earned the people’s trust and loyalty over the past more than 2 decades.

But more importantly, it continues to serve as inspiration among other companies in showing genuine love and care for the environment and people, sharing not just more reasons to smile but also in practicing good corporate citizenship.

As its contribution in helping preserve precious natural resources, Lamoiyan Corporation fully supports Republic Act 9275 or the “Clean Water Act of the Philippines” by using recycled waste water around its plant. After treatment and disinfection, the waste water is then used to water all flowering plants and fruit-bearing trees around the company’s sprawling compound in Parañaque City, helping the company save precious water and reduce its water consumption expenses.

Lamoiyan also continues to protect the welfare of people, particularly school-age kids. Recognizing the fact that lice infestation is a constant concern that affects kids’ performance in school, the company conducts “Licealiz Oplan Laban sa Kuto” each year in various schools and communities and teaches children and adults alike regarding proper hair and scalp care. And during the yearly “Brigada Eskwela” efforts of the Department of Education, Lamoiyan Corporation also helps out by donating Hapee toothpaste and Licealiz packs to students to help educate them about the value of dental and hair and scalp care so they won’t be absent from school often because of dental and hair care problems.

Sushi King : Change Your Hunger into Happiness

Wazzup Pilipinas!
It’s my first time to visit the Japanese restaurant “Sushi King” and I’m excited to tell you my experience eating there.

This August 17, 2013, after my mother left at her office we went to Market! Market! in Taguig City. We’re hungry that time that’s why I told her to eat at the “Sushi King” restaurant because my friend told me that they serve delicious Japanese foods there.

We entered the restaurant and I saw many people eating there, most of them were Japanese. We sat on a vacant table and the waitress gave us the menu. I love all their menus, they are all affordable and looks delicious. I just ordered an oyakudon, it is a pork chop with sauce with an egg on top of it and it is served with rice, it only cost P95.00. My mother ordered a pork katsu curry, it is a breaded pork chop with a curry sauce and it is also served with rice, it also cost P95.00. I’m sure that these affordable meals will make us full.

Crunchy Shrimp Roll Sushi!

Ama-Ebi Sushi

Wazzup Pilipinas!

Are you a food lover? I guess we all love foods, right? I'll just be specific. Do you like shrimp? I really really like shrimps! We usually eat cooked shrimps, right? Have you ever wondered what is it like to eat raw fish?

I was thinking of that last night so I decided to search for a Japanese cuisine that is composed of raw shrimp. I chose the Ama-Ebi sushi. I researched some information about Ama-Ebi sushi. I found out that the kind of shrimp used for this sushi is the deep-water shrimp that will grow to about four inches.

I also found out that the word amaebi is a direct translation of sweet shrimp. The shrimp is served in nigiri style. It means that the head and shell are removed, meat is partially cut down to the middle, the central vein removed, and for the final touch, the meat is laid across a small oblong portion of sushi rice.

And there! You already have an Ama-Ebi sushi. Now that you know some information about the Ama-Ebi sushi, would you like to try this sushi? For me, I would definitely like to try this!

Otakon : A Celebration of Otaku Culture

Poster of the Oreimo S2 OVA premieres at Otakon 2013.

Wazzup Pilipinas!

Now a days, we can observe that anime has a big role in our daily life, it serve as a hobby especially in teenagers. But what are the reasons why we like anime?

Of course, the title itself could be the reason why fans are running to it. You need a catchy headline to draw in eyeballs. In a world with so much anime series out there, you have to come up with something that gets one’s attention. Why not make it a bit controversial? Why not hint at a sexual taboo?

We’re all curious creatures at heart. Once fans get on board, things start to fall into place and they may begin to wonder if the ending will match the title after all. Even if the story turns sour, you can’t help but look. It makes you wonder if people were really interested if incest was going to happen or hope certain things happen because of sudden developments. Leave it to Oreimo’s author, Tsukasa Fushimi, to keep spicing things up.

Next Steps For LRT-1 Cavite Extension Project Bidding Known Next Week – DOTC

Wazzup Pilipinas!

The Special Bids and Awards Committee (SBAC) of the Department of Transportation and Communications (DOTC) and the Light Rail Transit Authority (LRTA) will submit its recommendation on the bidding of the LRT Line 1 Cavite Extension Project to Secretary Joseph Emilio Aguinaldo Abaya next week.

In order to formalize its recommendation, the SBAC needs to convene and pass a resolution prior to submitting the same to the Transport chief. Procedural requirements for setting an SBAC meeting this week were prevented by work cancellations stemming from the inclement weather and flooding brought about by Typhoon Maring.

An option to move the project forward under the Build-Operate-and-Transfer Law is to re-bid it. In case of a re-bidding, a single-stage process is possible in order to meet the project’s original deadlines.

Once the SBAC’s recommendation is approved, the DOTC will announce the next steps for the bidding of the project to the public.

Strife Amidst a State of Calamity in the Municipality of Pateros

Wazzup Pilipinas!

"Strife amidst a state of calamity? Both parties may have arguable valid points.

I am just surprised that a former councilor was not aware of the "positionings" in the Municipality, what more the ordinary residents of Pateros who do not have access to the offices of the LGU. I've been so very curious how people are assigned to posts at the municipal hall, especially down to the level of Job Order employees.

In fairness, I've seen how Elmer Nocheseda has highlighted Pateros in many of his works. He even came out with a book about Pateros. You could say he has somehow elevated the status of Pateros into national, if not international, recognition.

Likewise, I have heard a lot of great things Councilor Gerald German, now Vice Mayor, has done for Pateros. People have recommended him as the man to go to if in search of "action".

Both of them have earned my respect and admiration.

It is disappointing to see the two of them in a heated argument in a public medium, but on the other hand, I think it is good that everyone else will be able to hear out their sides.

Fair Deal : A Barter Auction Event

Wazzup Pilipinas!

In celebration of its second year, Trade School Manila is hosting a fund and awareness raising event on August 24, 2013.

Entitled Fair Deal : A Barter Auction Event, the three-hour gathering seeks to create an atmosphere of fun and trading – of the non-monetary variety. Services are the currency of choice in this event, with artists like folk singer Tao Aves pledging to provide 2-hour jam sessions in exchange for driving lessons – as a start.

The concept of barter, commonly understood in local culture as x-deals, has yet to gain traction. Trade School Manila (TS Manila) wants to bridge that gap through this event. Whilst traditional barter would entail bargaining between two parties, TS decided to shake things up a bit. Auctions have been set up, which allow multiple persons or parties to bid for the service being offered. Negotiations are made between the bidders and the seller.
