Demeter : Olympian Goddess

Wazzup Pilipinas!

There are many different topics in Greek Mythology. I chose to start with my personal favourite “The Olympian Gods”. They are the 12 Gods who ruled after the Titans were overthrown, they are named after the place where they reside Mount Olympus. This is where the gods live and where the council met except for Hades, who preferred his home in the underworld.
Demeter is one of the 12 Olympian gods and goddesses along with her siblings Zeus, Poseidon, Hera and Hestia. She is the Greek goddess of agriculture, grain and the harvest. She is the powerful figure in Greek Mythology. She was the daughter of Cronus and Rhea.

William Elvin : An Intimate Dinner With DisConTechNoThisContent

Wazzup Pilipinas!

What a treat! It was my first time to attend a musical event and it was the intimate bloggers meet up with William Elvin, theater actor - director, musical director and composer, Elvin who is about to release his solo debut album.

The album is entitled DisConTechNoThisContent : The Musicalienation of William Elvin is no ordinary album title. But I can sense the creativity of the artist by having a unique and extraordinary album title. Usually if its a debut album, the artists just uses their name as the album title, but the people behind the album has chosen to be more sensational with the album name.

The event was held at Taumbayan near Kamuning, Quezon City and I was proud to represent Wazzup Pilipinas.

Anime : Why Are You So Addicting?

credits to the rightful owners

Wazzup Pilipinas!

I don’t have to explain what an anime is, right? Since most of us know what an anime is, Im going to tell you a short description of what an anime is (hahaha). Anime is short for animation (Japanese animation). Anime is often based on Japanese comics called manga. Sometimes live action series, movies, and television series are also based on an anime.

I remember the first time I watched the anime, HUNTERXHUNTER and I was seven at that time. At that time my interest in anime had begun to wane. I also remembered collecting action figures and toys from ZOIDS and Dragonball. I really liked watching all those because those were the only anime I had that HANGING-ON-THE-EDGE-OF-YOUR-SEAT kind of plot. But just what is it about anime? Why is it so damn addicting, fun and interesting to watch?

These are my reasons anyway….

What do you think are the ways to keep Japan near to the Philippines? Have you ever thought about through Japanese businesses?

Yes! One of the ways to keep Japan near to us is by Japanese restaurants. Japanese restaurants here in the Philippines started in the late 1970s, when Japanese Prime Minister Kakuei Tanaka visited Southeast Asian countries, including our very own, to present his economic front to build Japanese restaurants. Kimpura restaurant, the oldest Japanese restaurant in the Philippines started and officially opened on October 10, 1970, at Makati City that serve authentic and oishi nipponshoku (Japanese food).

Tokyo Tokyo is well-known for their eat-all-you-can rice that started in 1985. The first branch of Tokyo Tokyo also opened where the Kimpura branch also first opened. Tokyo Tokyo offered lots of menu including sushi, all-time favourite tempura, best seller pork tonkatsu and beef teriyaki that has side dishes.

DIY Sunscreen Saves Your Skin And Your Budget

Wazzup Pilipinas!

Are you looking for a way to enjoy the summer sun without the harsh chemicals and smelly ingredients in sunscreen? We all know that the sun's damaging effects are even worse throughout the intense heat of the summer. But sticky, smelling, and sometimes harmful sunscreens can make us hesitant to reapply. According to EQG.org, the chemical, oxybenzone, found in about 80% of store bought sunscreens is dangerous because it can penetrate skin, causing allergic reactions or even hormone changes.

What few people know is that many natural oils can offer protection from the potent sun. According to organicauthority.com, many common oils such as coconut oil, sesame oil, and olive oil are natural low SPF sunblocks with a pleasant aroma. Some lesser used oils, such as raspberry seed oil, carrot seed oil, and wheat germ oil offer up to SPF 50.

With this safe and easy DIY recipe created by the experts at Skana spa of the New York resort Turning Stone, you can make your own sunblock that beats the heat while still protecting your skin and your wallet.

Grace Lee Renews Celebrity Endorser Contract with Chef’s Noodle

Wazzup Pilipinas!

Chef’s Noodle held a special event last July 9 at Annabel’s restaurant in Tomas Morato to announce Grace Lee’s contract renewal as Chef’s Noodle’s celebrity endorser.

It was no surprise why Grace Lee was picked as Chef's Noodle's celebrity endorser. Aside from being Korean, she is very "Grace"full and charming and you can sense how educated she was by the way she speaks and answers our questions during the Q&A.

I intentionally asked her a showbiz cum love life question and she was able to answer them with the style and sophistication that highlights her personality. She is truly very appropriate to be a celebrity endorser who is very much equipped with class and intelligence to become Chef's Noodle's "Ambassadress.

Chef's Noodle made the right choice to pick her for the role. She's smart, pretty and awesome with her words.

Whatever your religion may be, one must learn how to respect each. Be it Christianity, Islam or Buddhism, one must practice courtesy of shrines and temples, churches and mosques. Buddhism being one of Japan’s main religions, it is no wonder that the Great Buddha of Kamakura is considered as a sacred destination by all tourists alike, local and foreign, Buddhist or not.

The Great Buddha of Kamakura is a giant cast-in-bronze statue, known by most with its popular name Daibutsu. It is considered a National Treasure and is founded circa 1243. Its official name is Taiisan Kotokuin Shojo Senji and is seated on the holy grounds of Kotukuin. The statue centuries old, it was historical figure Yoritomo Minamoto who dreamt of building it after seeing the Great Buddha Statue of Todaiji in Nara. Unfortunately, he died without seeing his wish materialize.

Kon-nichiwa!

It's Japanese vs Filipino Culture. I know that most are already familiar with the differences about Japan's and Philippine's culture when it comes to foods, ways of greeting, and education. Well for me, I can somehow say that I am interested in fashions from different countries. Obviously, I chose Japanese clothing vs Filipino clothing.

The traditional wear for women of Japan is kimono. Kimono is generally made of silk, have large sleeves and reach from the shoulders all the way down to the heels. It is tied with a wide belt called an obi. Nowadays, kimonos are used for special occasions such as weddings, festivals, graduations, and other rare gatherings. The kimono tends to limit one's movement, and it takes more time to put on properly.

We are greatly influenced by Japan. From their technology, some cultural activities down to clothes and of course their delicacies. Food is one of our basic needs right? And we Filipinos enjoy such thing called “Food Trip” in which we try different kinds of food, foods that we rarely eat and I believe that Japanese food is one of these.

Last Sunday, July 7, 2013, my aunt and I had a bonding by shopping somewhere in Taguig. After shopping, we’re very hungry so we’ve decided to eat in Teriyaki Boy, a Japanese Restaurant. Here's a picture of me in front of the restaurant.
