Quincentennial Commemoration Celebrations Presented to Stakeholders

Wazzup Pilipinas!

Lapulapu, the icon of early Philippines and the symbol of Filipino freedom is spelled without a dash

It was also unsure if he was the one who killed Magellan because historical notes would say that it was in a tribal skirmish.

On some, Magellan was hit by a poisoned arrow and left to die by his retreating comrades.

So the real killer of Magellan is still a mystery.

Nevertheless, being the leader, Lapulapu is recognized as responsible for the death.

That could be identified as command responsibility.

To commemorate the Quincentennial, or D-Day 500th Anniversary of the Victory in Mactan, a series of activities (that has already started with the latest PhilPop to hold boot camps to come up with 8 songs to serve as the National Quincentennial Commemoration Playlist and the OPM community to compose the official theme song to be launched on December 14, 2019.

There will also be the Lapulapu National Monument Design Competition to be launched on October 2019 and inaugurated on April 27, 2021, the World of Ancestors on December 14, 2019, the Launching of National Volunteerism Day on April 27, 2020, the Opening of Museum of Early History on January 17, 2021.... and many more. A 500 day countdown activity will be done simultaneous on December 14, 2019 at three designated locations (Manila at Rizal National Monument, Lapu-Lapu, Cebu at the Liberty Shrine, and Davao at the Peace and Unity Monument)

The commemoration is to highlight the unity, magnanimity, sovereignity and identity of Filipinos even during those years before 1521 where we were already trading with people from other islands beyond the scope of the Philippines.
