Unlimited Hoegaarden Beer for All to Celebrate World Beer Cup Win

Wazzup Pilipinas!

Thank you to Booze Online for inviting Wazzup Pilipinas to attend the extended celebration of Hoegaarden's win at the 2016 World Beer Cup which evaluates beers around the world and recognizes the most outstanding breweries and their beers every two years.

The celebration was held on May 12 at the rooftop of Manila House located at Net Park in Bonifacio Global City (BGC). The place was a little bit hard to find if you don't know the entrance that's near Green Pastures. Luckily I was told where exactly to find it.

Starting as early as 4 pm, attendees were treated to some craft-making activities along with eco-bags that they can personalize by picking stamp designs depicting ingredients of the beer as well as the Hoegaarden logo. Creativity is of course on your side as it was very easy to come up with your preferred look.

These eco-bags were given at the event registration where they would ask you to sign up. When I felt they were empty and plain dirty white, I knew there will some sort of activity at the event that will make use of the eco-bag.

You will also be getting the air plants (with an almost blooming flower in the middle) that can be placed on a wooden square with threads thingy where you could hang the air plants. They are said to grow bigger and the flower to fully bloom soon. Now, that would be fun to watch everyday as it progresses to become a beautiful flowery air plant. I just hope it survives long for I may no longer be a green thumb.

There's lots of young and vibrant attendees that I felt a little out of place because there were only a few people I know there. I guess I am lucky to have the organizer as friend. But then again I met him at one of the other events I attended, and obviously made a good impression on him.

Lastly was the small piece of rectangular wood with nails significantly placed at specific locations where you could put on a thread and form an image. There were three images to choose form but I picked the rose coz it was the nearest sounding to my name. They asked us to create the designs on our own. Nut who has time to work on it when they were offering unlimited Hoegaarden beer an another stall.

Yes! Unlimited, drink-all-you-can, no worries if you get drunk, and just enjoy the night while listening to live bands perform on stage with the huge Hoegaarden signage. There's lots of pica-pica foods being served and oh boy, I couldn't really take in all of them. They were all so yummy but the body (blame the tummy) is weak eventhough the mind was shouting "Give me more!!!'

BTW, there's also an artists working on another huge Hoegaarden signage where he was spray-painting it and planning to also add some flowers to make it a lot more colorful. The guy has a very familiar name of which he is probably one of the artists known to spice up an event by doing live artworks on the spot. Too bad I was not able to see his finish product because I had to leave early due to another event where I was a media partner. I hated to leave but I am obligated to cover the next event. Huhuhu!!!

Watch out for my special video message from

Many of my photographer friends were there but they couldn't really drink since they were contracted by the organizers for event coverage. You will know they are professional photographers since they came in fully equipped with all the necessary gears and are keen on taking special photos of everyone.

Congratulations to Hoegaarden, Chester Cabrera, Marketing Head of Bozze Online, and Philip Tan, Area Manager of Anheuser-Busch InBev, the company behind many global beer brands including Hoegaarden. I have a special video interview of him that I will soon upload on our official YouTube channel.

Sir Philip has told me some differences of the Hoegaarden beer from the common beer but it was too technical for me to comprehend or remember. For me, what is important is the taste and after-effects that it gives to the drinkers. I enjoyed my few bottles of Hoegaarden without feeling too worried I will get dizzy or have a stomach ache. They also gave us two more bottles for take-out that we could bring home but since I was off to another event, I just gave the two bottles to my friends there at the next venue so I could share the blessings and let them also experience the goodness of Hoegaarden!

Below is the official Hoegaarden press release from the event:

Hoegaarden Brewery, through its exclusive distributor in the Philippines Booze Online, Inc., has extended the celebration of its World Beer Cup win to Philippine shores by hosting a festive roof deck party at the Manila House in Bonifacio Global City, Taguig. The festivity toasted Hoegaarden Original White Ale’s Gold award in the Belgian-Style Witbier Category of the 2016 World Beer Cup, which bested 77 other witbier brands. Considered one of the most stringent global beer competitions to date, the World Beer Cup evaluates beers around the world and recognizes the most outstanding breweries and their beers every two years.

Recognized by connoisseurs as the original Belgian White Beer, Hoegaarden Witbier – biere blanche, is esteemed for its distinct taste and flavor palette which consists of Curacao orange peel and coriander that lend it a light and refreshing flavor and smooth taste.

In addition to its cool citrusy finish, Hoegaarden Witbier – biere blanche credits its Gold award to the Hoegaarden Brewery’s complex and exacting brewing process and century’s worth of expertise. Anne Ghanima, Brewmaster and Hoegaarden Brewery Manager explains, “Hoegaarden is different by nature. It goes through a complex brewing process that uses special barley malt, raw wheat and our very unique Hoegaarden yeast that result in a distinctive cloudy-white appearance. The key to the authentic Belgian wheat beer’s unique, refreshing flavor and spicy nose is ingredients including real Curacao orange peel and a delicate balance of coriander. Many years ago, Hoegaarden brewmasters creativity led the iconic beer we know today and we are proud to perpetuate the tradition.”

Hoegaarden traces its roots to the village of Hoegaarden, Belgium where brewing beer has always been an integral part of life. The tradition began in the 15th century, when Begarden monks in the area started brewing Belgian white (or wit) ales. Since the previous wheat beers they brewed were sour, the monks experimented by adding orange peel from the colony of Curacao and coriander until they deliciously crafted the Hoegaarden recipe used today. By the 19th century, the village then boasted of 35 breweries.

Hoegaarden and other World Beer Cup winners were selected by an international panel of 253 beer judges from 31 countries. Regarded as the “Olympics of Beer Competition,” the World Beer Cup℠ assessed an impressive field of 6,596 entries from 1,907 breweries in 55 countries. The awards were presented during the World Beer Cup℠ ceremony at the Pennsylvania Convention Center in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
