beep Card can now be Loaded and Used for Payment at FamilyMart

Wazzup Pilipinas!

After its convenient usage at all MRT/LRT trains and BGC buses, the beep card can now also be used at all FamilyMart convenience stores. Talk about access to convenience in a convenience store! That's twice the convenience for all of us!

The beep card can now be reloaded and used to purchase products at all FamilyMart branches nationwide. That's cashless transactions for the consumers who can conveniently use the same beep card that we previously used only to travel in trains and buses.

At a media launch held on December 7, 2016 at the Glorietta 3 branch in Makati city. This is to officially announce the partnership between beep card's proponent AF Payments Inc., and FamilyMart, a Japanese convenience store chain of Ayala Corporation - Metro Pacific Investments Corporation.

I'm sure the beep card will soon expand into more flexible usage to add to the existing lineup of partnerships where we can reload and use the card to purchase. The advantage goes to the consumers as it would definitely mean added convenience. So please do add more to the list so we do not need to carry so much different cards anymore in most, if not all, of our daily or regular transactions.

We interviewed both representatives from FamilyMart and AF Payments so please do watch our videos of them here and at our YouTube channel at http://www.YouTube.com/wazzuppilipinas

Below is the official press release from the event:
Sometimes you just have to reward yourself with an ice cream cone for surviving the commute in Metro Manila. Now you can Twirl-all-you-can, because convenience store chain FamilyMart is now accepting loading and payments via beep card, the same tap-and-go card you use for your train and bus rides.

beep card’s proponent AF Payments Inc. hinted during its first anniversary last October that it was brewing a partnership with a major convenience store chain. Now it can be said that Japanese chain FamilyMart marks the Ayala Corp.-Metro Pacific Investments Corp. consortium’s first move out of transportation and into retail.

Starting December 7, beep card holders can reload and pay for their purchases at 80 Family Mart branches (list provided below)

“This is it, the wait is over! Now, you can save time fumbling in your bags or pockets for change because FamilyMart has started allowing cashless transactions through the beep™ card. It’s perfect for Filipinos and millennials on the go, who rely mostly on convenience stores for quick purchases,” said Tere Ancheta, official spokesperson for AFPI.

Family Mart is the second largest chain of 24-hour convenience stores in the world, with over 18,000 branches in Japan, Taiwan, Thailand, Vietnam, Indonesia, Malaysia, China, and the Philippines. It first came to Manila in April 2013, with the Glorietta 3 store as its flagship branch.

Family Mart has become a favored hangout for its café-like experience, having brought here fan-favorite items like popular Japanese fares sushi, onigiri, katsudon, soba, and ramen, as well as ready-to-eat gourmet sandwiches and fresh salads.

New to the Family

Coinciding with the beep card launch is the promotion of Family Mart’s newest offerings, namely, their Rice-in-a-Box Line featuring everyone’s favorite, Yang Chow Fried Rice; Fresh Fried Lumpiang Shanghai; Solo Pizzas; their Donburi range featuring Beef Caldereta, Pork Binagoongan, Chicken Galantina, and more; and new dessert cups featuring Mango Graham and Banoffee variants. With beep card acceptance, patrons can now just grab what they need or want, proceed to the counter, and tap their beep™ card to pay.

“We are thrilled to be part of the beep card network as its first ever retail partner. We constantly look for ways to offer our customers more convenience through our products and services, and I’m sure they will love this new addition to FamilyMart. Now, they can enjoy their Family Mart favorites better through cashless transactions and being able to load your beep™ card in our stores will make it so much easier and hassle-free for the general public,” said Manuel C. Alberto, President and General Manager of Philippine Family Mart CVS, Inc.

Since its launch in 2015, the tap-and-go beep card has modernized payment, having unified the way Filipinos pay in all three elevated railways (LRT 1, 2 and MRT 3), select bus lines, and the Cavite Expressway. There are currently over 2.5 million beep™ cards in circulation.
