TropicalSwells to Hold SurfCamp from Subic to Baler

Wazzup Pilipinas!

I'm not new to surfing as it has been introduced to me a couple of years ago when we covered an event in La Union, the surfing Capital of the North, with no less than Luke Landrigan as the surfing instructor, then it was followed with visits in Leyte for a media thanksgiving, then a few more opportunities at several other places.

Still, even though I was clearly stoked, I wanted to capture more of the action in both photo and video instead of actually experiencing it myself. I don't know why but I was more interested in showing the experience to my readers rather than have the time of my life spending the whole afternoon or weekend surfing out in the open seas.

Thus, I never really learned to master the activity, not because I was afraid to get hit on the head by the surf board and drown helplessly. It was because I was more concerned in sharing and immortalizing the stories. That is why even though I'm not an expert photo or videographer, I want o always have time documenting the experience.

For me, every travel opportunity, whether nearby or out-of-town, is a blessing. Thus, I always appreciate invitations that will take me into places I've never been before, or revisit a familiar place to find out what's new.

TropicalSwells, a Philippine surf school that offers a fun and safe surf experience for beginners, avid enthusiasts and all interested members of your family, invited members of the media, including bloggers, to a day of learning the basics of surfing.

Surfing 101, as you may call it, was designed for both kids and adults who would like to try out the sport for the first time, or to refresh themselves in preparation of going out to the open seas. The company thought it would be best to start within the safety of a giant wave pool, which you can find two, at White Rock Beach Resort and Waterpark located at Barangay Matain in Subic, Zambales.

We also had the opportunity to tour around the huge place that gives you access to numerous pools and the beach waters where a huge inflatable toy was floating that day. They also offer quite a number of water activities, plus land activities like the zip-line and rappelling area. The resort also has a huge water-park area designed for kids where lots of colorful statues from dinosaurs to Disney character decors are all over the place.

Since there's a lot of photos, you better check the rest of them at our official Facebook page so we won't burden you with waiting too long for the site to load.

The highlight of the day was the introduction of TropicalSwells brand ambassadors Rain and Kristo, only 13 and 11 years old respectively. They were a part of TropicalSwells since last year where they were given the privilege to represent the surf school. I have some video interviews with them as well as Kristo's little sister Audrey who's only 4 years young.

Also of great importance is the presence of surfing instructors led by Coach Virge, who did all the teaching before letting us try it out in the giant wave pools of White Rock Subic. Of course, I also have a video interview with this surfing icon from Zambales who shared his insights and thoughts all about surfing.

Please check them out at our YouTube Channels at http://www/YouTube.com/user/wazzuppilipinas available in 8 parts. I will also try to embed them here here within this article when they have completed in upload.

These are just the first parts of a more than an hour of video coverage so please bear with us as we upload them painstakingly on our YouTube channel...The very slow Internet connection is the reason why we are being hold back. I would love to vote for the President who would go against the duopoly of the greedy telecom companies.
