Running on its 12th year, MIAS 2016 opened its doors last April 7 and will be ongoing until April 10 at the combined venues of the World Trade Center and the Philippine Trade Training Center.

To officially kick-off the 4-day automotive extravaganza, an opening program and ceremonial ribbon cutting were held at the lobby of the venue. In attendance at the event were VIPs, members of the diplomatic corps and notable industry icons including WSI’s Joseph Ang, Levi Ang, Jill Aithnie Ang, Rene Ramos, Tessie Roque, MIAS co-organizers - Alvin Uy, Jason Ang, Ulysses Ang, and guest of honor, MMDA General Manager - Ms. Corazon Jimenez representing MMDA Chairman - Emerson Carlos, and AAP President - Mr. Gus Lagman among others. Driving up to the future

Headlining the theme of “Smart Mobility”, MIAS 2016 takes things to a whole new dimension, as it delivers not just your typical automotive displays and whatnots. But rather, it is an unforgettable presentation of the most state-of-the-art technologies that are at the core of today’s most innovative automobiles and accessories – officially taking over a total of 30,000 square meters of indoor exhibition space and beyond.

As the world enters a new era, so does the automotive industry as it materializes a new breed of models and accessories that possess elements and characteristics that were once only deemed as science fantasy. At this year’s MIAS, attendees are given a unique opportunity to witness first hand the groundbreaking products of tomorrow. From cars that can maneuver itself into parking spaces to vehicles with interactive cruise control, attendees are sure to get their fill of the action as countless booths house actual smart automobiles. Moreover, exhibitors are more than willing to demonstrate how fun and safe these models are.

New dimensions of thrill

Taking center stage at this year’s MIAS are the breathtaking automobile launches that will be held throughout the trade exposition. Among the premium car brands set to present during the show are Chevrolet, with its new Sail sedan; Ford, with its special outdoor display; Hyundai, which brought in a range of trucks and commercial vehicles; Jaguar and its XE model; Jeep, which is celebrating its 75th anniversary; KIA with its Sportage model launch; Maserati with its Maserati Driving Experience activation; Mercedes Benz with its NGCC models – a new generation of compact cars; Mitsubishi with its new Montero Sport; Peugeot and its 307 GTI; Sangyong; Subaru which will unveil its Forester and Viziv concept car; and Tata with its Super Ace model, among others. Also noteworthy event highlights are the new oils to be released by Motul for 2016 and the Military Jeep and Classic Land Rover x Araw ng Kagitingan display.

On top of showcasing the widest range of the latest product and service innovations as well as the newest model offerings from major automotive brands, the exhibition space which extends over four indoor arenas are enhanced by two customized tent areas and several outdoor exhibition areas where the Guinness World Record holder and precision driver, Russ Swift, will be wowing the crowd with the world’s fastest parking stunts.

At the two custom-made off-road tracks on the MIAS front lawn area, tough and agile SUVs will show off its capacities alongside on- and off-road test-drives which will be held throughout the exhibit grounds. Meanwhile, attendees who are looking to jazz up their rides may survey the wide display of accessories, equipment, and all else auto-related including wheels and tires to audio units and car care kits at the aftermarket tents.

Further down the road, at The Philippine Trade Training Center to be exact, attendees are invited to revel in the spectacles of meticulously restored classics to outrageously customized sports cars as MIAS presents this year’s Custom and Classic Car Competition.

Over a decade later, MIAS continues to prove its standing as the single most important automotive trade event in the country not just for auto enthusiasts but also for industry professionals who are looking to expand their business horizon. But what ultimately sets MIAS apart from its contemporaries is that it is able to deliver an all-inclusive and highly insightful trade experience while also ensuring that attendees are in for a one hell of a ride with its heady line-up of pocket events and activities that thrill and excite.
