The 15th Grand Wine Experience Just Got Even Grander Than Ever

Wazzup Pilipinas!

We would love to experience having the time of our lives enjoying the best of what life has to offer! Soon there would be an event that you can really call wine heaven as more than 500 wines and spirits all are gathered together at one venue.

We just came from the presscon a few days ago and tasted 4 types of wine - just an itsy bitsy teaser of what to expect from the biggest wine tasting event ever. Your Pambansang Blogger ng Pilipinas is simply ecstatic to share to you my experience at the press conference and to invite you all to come witness this amazing event.

The 15th Grand Wine Experience will be held on November 13, 2015 at the Grand Ballroom of The Marriott Hotel at Resorts World Newport City in Paranaque. This is so far the biggest venue yet. I've been at the place for a previous event and you've got believe me when I say it's huge! I am now baffled on how they are going to fill the place up with so many wines, and of course, the people who would soon go gaga over trying their best to taste each and every wine available for tasting.

The Marriott Hotel management aims to surpass what they have accomplished for the past years it has been held at their hotel venues. We will get to see both artistry and resourcefulness of the head chef and food and beverage officers. They personally shared short messages for the event and you could really see their anticipation to again prove themselves better for this year's run of the Great Wine Experience.

Since November 13 is my wife's birthday, I would probably ask her to join me even though we are not really drinkers. The hosts told us that the best way to be able to experience almost all the wines is to just play with it in your mouth and spit after you've tasted it. Don't get tempted to swallow on the first set of wines you'll encounter. There are so many to try out and enjoy that you might miss the best ones.

Therefore, you'll need to know where there's a spittoon or just let the wine out again in the same wine glass where you sipped it. Our jobs on the day itself is to cherish the taste and not go home all tipsy or worst, drunk and unable to drive.

But if you're the type of person who couldn't resist great wines, then better bring along a designated driver who will drive you back home.

The host of the event really knows his wines. We'll get to see him again at the 15th Grand Wine Experience (if we can find our way among the huge number of people trying out a great gathering of wines and other liquors). We also asked him for a special video on Wines Tasting 101 so please do watch it here or watch it at our YouTube channel at http://www.YouTube.com/wazzuppilipinas.

There were so many Josephs in the room but only nearly half talked about the event and told some background stories about wines, and wineries, and the rich history accompanying them. The very first ones we got to meet was Lara Melissa De Leon Joseph who was very accommodating enough to welcome us at the event.

I was really so flattered when she asked me for my contact and blog details. Normally, I would have asked for a photo ops with the key people of the event but the gathering that day was simply elite and classy that I fell a bit awkward wearing only jeans and a collared shirt.

Bloggers need to wear comfortable attires which we can briskly move in ease, and jeans has always been the best choice for us especially if you just commute via mass transportation not only because it's cheaper but because it's a lot faster and more convenient instead of bringing a car that you have to look for parking space every time you attend an event. Thanks to innovations like Uber, Grab Car and soon U-Hop, and hopefully more to come soon to join the ever increasing providers of convenience, we would soon have easier ways to go around the Metro.

It was my first time to be invited to the annual event thanks to a new-found friend who leads the Marketing of Booze Online and Grand Cru, Chester Cabrera, who I met at a previous press conference for another upcoming event where his Paulaner beer brand was involved as a sponsor. I was also invited there to spread the news, and hopefully to cover the actual event too. Dawn Ignacio was the contact person at the 15th Grand Wine Experience press conference where I was the very first one to arrive thus she had to personally approach me on our table where I signed up for the event on her tablet.

You'll be real interested knowing each and every story that comes with every wine that will soon be served at the grand ballroom of the Marriott Hotel. I don't know about you but I'm already excited for November 13 to come quick. It is not everyday you get the opportunity to have in one venue such a heavenly treat.

Lobster Gazpacho
Porcini Mushroom
Grilled Rib Eye Steak
Coffee Parfait
Pairing wines with food is an art. We had an awesome time dining on great dishes like the Grilled Rib Eye steak (with potato fondant, wild mushroom jus and organic vegetables) which taste was enhanced with the help of the Montes Alpha Malbec. This goes the same with the other four served dishes and the dessert, namely the Lobster Gazpacho which was paired with a Jansz Tasmania Premium NV Cuvee. the Porcini Mushroom paired with a Bouchard Pere & Fils Bourgogne Chardonnay La Vignee, and lastly the Espresso Parfait paired with a Gran Feudo Moscatel.

The food and wines at the event were just teasers to what to expect from the Grand Wine Experience. You must never miss this event organized by the Joseph brothers as they have seemingly dedicated extreme effort to make the event as grand as possible for everyone's appreciation.

Somewhere down at the lobby of the hotel, near the entrance, was a display of some of the products that we will get to see, and taste, at the event itself. This is again just a small portion of what to expect.

Thank you for coming up with such an amazing event! Hope to see them again on November 13, and I'm sure I will be seeing you as well together with your relatives, colleagues and friends. See you all soon!

Below is their official press release:

A wine’s vintage speaks of more than just the year of harvest. It is, in essence, the headline of an article, the name of a painting, the title of a novel; one that alludes to a period of romance between the sun, rain, wind, earth and man; and tells the story of how a confluence of such disparate elements can, under just the right conditions, yield poetry in a bottle.

Since its inception at the turn of the century, the Grand Wine Experience has seen itself transform from a humble gathering of wine enthusiasts into a monumental Mecca to which bon vivants, celebrities, dignitaries, top executives and members of high society make their annual pilgrimage. Founded by the four Joseph brothers of Philippine Wine Merchants, the Grand Wine Experience is widely regarded as the most spectacular, most lavish and most anticipated wine event of any kind in Southeast Asia.

As this year’s theme, the word ‘vintage’ carries more gravitas not just because we are hitting the 15th milestone year of the event, but also because we are celebrating the 40th anniversary of the company behind it. This year also marks the move to a significantly more spacious venue, one that can cater to double the capacity of the previous Marriott grand ballroom, no easy feat, but a challenge worth taking on nonetheless.

We believe the time is ripe enough to open the show to an exponentially larger audience. We’ve delicately hand-picked a greater number of wines and spirits to choose from compared to the already staggering line-ups from year’s past. We’ve laboriously cultivated the show by pruning the inefficiencies and non-essentials, making improvements in every facet of the guest experience, from the buffet selection, to the quality of the entertainment; ultimately giving more value for money.

This year’s edition of The Grand Wine Experience promises not only to up all the antes, but shatter and surpass all expectations. On November 13, 2015 at the new Grand Ballroom of the Marriott Hotel, it simply comes down to this --- you are going to have the best time of your life.

Presented by Philippine Wine Merchants and Ralphs Wines and Spirits.
