The First YouTube Fanfest Live in Manila

Wazzup Pilipinas!

What does it take to be sensationally a real hit in YouTube?

Some say you need to be good looking for the serious stuff like covers, uniquely funny if you want to be a comic, and sings exceptionally well because all that good looks is nothing if you're out of tune (but you can still get on the comic side because you're still damn pleasing to the eyes.

But there seem to be a lot more people making comedy videos since we all appreciate a good laugh all the time.

The Philippines has its own share of personalities with millions of YouTube views. They are the really talented individuals who are very confident to express themselves infront of the camera even though they'll eventually be either criticized or praised.

If you have the guts to fail, then you would most likely become the one to succeed. It all takes  half the talent and half the confidence to succeed as a YouTube idol.

We were definitely thrilled by a sensational mix of music, comedy and beauty when YouTube stars from the Philippines and around the world gathered for the first YouTube FanFest live in Manila last June 26, 2015.

Personalities that are very popular in YouTube like Abra, Loonie, Casper Lee, Oli White, Joe Sugg, Thatcher Joe, Kristine of Real Asian Beauty, Lloyd CafĂ© Cadena, Mich Liggayu, Jireh Lim, Bogart the Explorer, Donnalyn Bartolome, Bethany Mota, Apl De Ap, Jessica Reynoso, AJ Rafael, Macy Kate, Kurt Hugo Schneider, and Chicser were all there at the YouTube FanFest in Manila, and probably some more that I missed.

Others who could not make it like David DiMuzio and Mikey Bustos sent over their video greetings for the audience that were mostly teens.

I wanted to see Alodia Gosiengfiao and her sexy cosplays but too bad she only went to the YouTube Fanfest Creator Academy which was held the following day. I could never get tired watching that beautiful lady on YouTube.

Here are Mikey Bustos' messages that he posted on Facebook:

"Youtube Fan Fest Manila, I'm sorry I couldn't join you guys, but I was there in spirit. I felt the energy all the way from Canada last night! Love you guys and thanks for supporting youtube creators!"

"I believe I cried real tears the moment I heard Manila's first @youtubefanfest was on the weekend of my Toronto concert. I am happy to at least have greeted everyone all the way from Canada and be there in spirit! So happy ‪#‎YTFF‬ finally hit Manila! This is a triumph for Pinoy youtube creators. It is the beginning of the takeover and I am ecstatic to see youtuber love SO ALIVE in the Philippines!"

The hallways were filled with mostly teens all chatting, taking selfies amidst the many YouTube decorative lay-outs spread all over the hallways of the Marriot Grand Ballroom.  Many were also falling in line at the booths where they gave away freebies like YouTube pens, bag tags, and sling bags. There was also a booth giving away toiletries like shampoos and conditioners.

Apparently, it is true that the youth of today are the digital natives that hang out watching YouTube videos and spend several hours on other social media networks like Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.

Inside the ballroom, the show featured the many YouTubers mentioned earlier. Both the hallways and ballroom were jam-packed with people.

Lots of cheers everytime their YouTube idols comes out on stage and performs.

I was contacted by migme to attend the event in exchange for a blog post and some social media posts with the hashtags #migmePH and #youtubefanfest but unfortunately my name was not on the guest list as expected.

They do not know the contact person given by migme, and we couldn't reach the mobile number provided, but fortunately the SPECIAL GUEST Registration Desk located at Room 6&8 on the ground floor of The Marriott Grand Ballroom, Manila Marriott Hotel, #10 Newport Blvd., Newport City Complex, Pasay was very accommodating and allowed to provide me a blue wristband which allowed me entry to the show.

However, several hours already passed so I only got to watch a portion of the show sometime at the last portion when All Star Productions were performing. What I really enjoyed at the latter parts of the show was the performance of Macy Kate mainly because she was so damn pretty! She's the most beautiful performer that night and I'm glad I was able to watch live her on stage.

The show ended with all the YouTube artists coming out on stage to the amazement of the audience.

  1. I like to use applications. However, I do not like advertising on them. YouTube ads are especially annoying. Yes, it allows you to watch videos for free, but now there is an incredible amount of advertising. So I decided to use the youtube vanced program which helps to watch all videos without advertising, for free, in high quality. And my life has become incredibly beautiful because I don't spend time on commercials that I don't need or care about.
