UST JMA Athomic: Strategies for the Modern World of Marketing

Wazzup Pilipinas!

The University of Santo Tomas Junior Marketing Association brought us last March 5, 2014 the annual ATHOMIC: Annual Thomasian Marketers’ Intercollegiate Congress!

It was a gathering of top business professionals and students from different universities for an interactive seminar dubbed also as ATHOMICongress. With the goal of breaking the standards of the Marketing world and to start creating our own rules, speakers shared their years of experience to the attendees, not only to educate but also to inspire on how to improve their skills in the field of Marketing.

I came in early, as always, that the organizers were still setting up the registration area when I arrived at the Medicine auditorium of the Martin De Porres building of UST. Actually, I wanted to catch a glimpse of how the preparations were being made, from the setup of the booths and the stage, to the arrival of the attendees. Quite a number came in a few minutes after the call time of 5 pm where majority were college students.

May Pinaghuhugutan sa #Hugot: Three Heart-Warming Stories from UST Artistang Artlets

Wazzup Pilipinas!

There are very few student plays where I would keep on hearing a few of the audience that couldn't hold voicing out their amazement especially when they're so "kilig" at those adorable scenes that usually shows the endearing sides of the characters.

#Hugot was about three inspirational short love stories dedicated to those who are confused, broken and struggling in order to keep “LOVE” going. The audience was well-immersed with the play since the organizers made it a very intimate and up-close set-up where we could really see the adorable expressions and personalities of each character portrayed really well by the cast from UST's Artistang Artlets.

I was surprised when I was taken into a dark room where the audience were seated on chairs at the stage itself. They used a flashlight to guide me onto my seat where quite a number of people were already present. There was an upper stage where they've setup a bedroom view, and below, right infront of us, was something like a combination of sala and kitchen set.

Sugarleaf Media Appreciation Day: Brimming with Healthy Living Products

Wazzup Pilipinas!

They say "health is wealth" and I have to strongly agree. If we would only have the discipline to eat healthy foods and stay away from the "junk food" which also includes all the harmful, artificially flavored and colored, processed with preservatives, excessively sweetened & salted, inorganic products, we may live a lifetime of healthy living with zero doctor and hospital visits. That's quite a lot of savings that, if accumulated within your lifetime, could very well mean more riches than you could ever imagine. Imagine the money we would have saved if only we didn't have to buy those medicines, and pay for those laboratory examination and doctors' fees.

It's too expensive to get sick these days and mostly all the diseases, and side effects come out at the later stages of our life. We'll soon realize we've done all wrong at a time when its all too late. Regrets come later in life and it is difficult to regain an already diminished health.

If only we followed the advise of the health and fitness gurus, if only we invested on that additional amount just to keep slim and sexy, if only, if only, if only....

The best way to stay at our best form is to eat organic foods and go on juice therapy. These healthy options are mostly available at all Sugarleaf stores - your one-stop shop for everything organic and healthy.

Thanks to the recent media appreciation day, we were all introduced to a lot of possible alternatives on how to improve our diet. It was greatly appreciated and highly welcomed.

Cherie Gil as Diana Vreeland on Full Gallop: Authentically Amazing Performance

Wazzup Pilipinas!

Only the one and only Cherie Gil can pull off a portrayal that entertains the audience from start until end. The one-and-a-half hour one-woman play was an awesome autobiographical spectacle of the essence of fashion icon Diana Vreeland at a time when she was let go as a the Fashion Editor of a famous magazine.

Cherie Gil's performance seems so effortless that she leaves you with an insatiable urge to steadily watch out for the next cocky thing she would say on stage. Never dull, never boring, you'll enjoy every statement that comes out of her, while she playfully interacts with the audience.

And the scene with the flowers, .... Oooppps!!! I wouldn't want to give out spoilers. I better stop myself while I can. All I should say is that you've never seen anything elegantly captivating like this before.

Be sure to get the full glimpse of Cherie Gil as Diana Vreeland in Full Gallop at the Carlos P. Romulo Theater located in RCBC Plaza Makati City. Only 5 shows are scheduled so it will be a great disappointment if you miss it.

March 15, 16, 21, 22, and 23, 2014 only.

Gameloft and Marvel Swing Back Onto Smartphones and Tablets with The Amazing Spider-Man 2

Wazzup Pilipinas!

Gameloft, a leading global publisher of digital and social games, and Marvel are joining forces to develop and launch the most “amazing” Spider-Man experience on smartphones and tablets. The game features an action-packed, open-world adventure showcasing characters from Sony Pictures’ highly anticipated The Amazing Spider-Man 2, coming to theaters this April.

“After the tremendous success of the first The Amazing Spider-Man mobile game, we’re excited to be working with Marvel again to bring the fan-favorite hero back onto smartphones with The Amazing Spider-Man 2,” says Karine Kaiser, VP Marketing & Licensing at Gameloft. “Players will enjoy a deep open-world adventure and iconic web-spinning action that makes Spider-Man so extraordinary.”

Players can expect to web-sling through a free-roam Manhattan that increases the city size and detail of the first game, making it the ultimate playground to show off Spider-Man’s impressive web-swinging, wall-climbing, web-shooting and fighting abilities. Spider-Man embarks on a nonstop, unpredictable action-adventure, as he rushes to save New York City from the chaos of a disastrous crime wave. Combined with an original story inspired by the film, the stage is set for Spidey’s greatest battle against film villains Electro and Green Goblin, as well as other iconic foes inspired by more than 50 years of comics.

There's Still Hope For Everyone: An Open Letter to the Misguided

Wazzup Pilipinas!

This is becoming a regular headache of mine:

Asking myself what to do when I arrive at an event only to find out that there's a few people already there that signed up as Wazzup Pilipinas representatives.

As a gentle reminder to all those who want to represent Wazzup Pilipinas, please ask permission from me first. If you were not assigned to be there at an event, especially the events that I am an official media partner with, you should not declare yourself under Wazzup Pilipinas. This goes the same even if you are a member of the Wazzup Pilipinas community. We cannot afford to have everyone in the community showing up at an event claiming to be official representatives of Wazzup Pilipinas.

We are turning 1 year old this coming March 22, 2014, the same day we will be officially receiving another award as Best Filipino Community Blog Site, so I prefer to hear only good news before that big day. Too bad, I personally witnessed these appalling discoveries.

“Noises Off” Takes Off and Set To Open March 28

Wazzup Pilipinas!

Repertory Philippines proudly presents the hilarious ‘Noises Off’, the third offering for its 77th season.

Written in 1982 by English playwright Michael Frayn, Noises Off—a stage term indicating sounds coming from offstage—is a play within a play, the story of a temperamental director and a troupe of hapless performers putting up a silly sex farce called Nothing On.

The present production of Noises Off, which is directed by Miguel V. Faustmann, runs from March 28 to April 13 and from April 25 to April 27, 2014 at Onstage, 2/F, Greenbelt 1, Paseo de Roxas corner Legazpi St., Makati City.

The idea for Noises Off came to Frayn while he was watching one of his other plays, The Two of Us, from the wings. Noting that it was “funnier from behind than in front,” he was inspired to create a one-act play called Exits, which he later expanded into what would become Noises Off.

Repertory Philippines has assembled a stellar cast for the current production, most of whom play actors playing roles in the fictitious play Nothing On.

Anne Curtis Smith and Her New Dyesebel Pictorial

Wazzup Pilipinas!

Amazing photos posted on Instagram by lensman Mark Nicdao wows social media with the new images of Anne Curts Smith posing as the Mars Ravelo mermaid character Dyesebel. Anne is seen lying on the seashore in between the waves and the rocky shores. Also on shore is an empty picture frame - could it mean something or just to add flair?

Some seashells and starfishes can be seen among the rocks. This photo has two versions with Anne having her eyes closed and another one with her smiling. I appreciate the first one more than the second version since it adds more mystery to the shot.

With the long orange mermaid fish tail, it somehow lengthens the height of Anne as if to appear taller with long legs, and also with a longer neck with her chin up.

Junior Memories :)

First quarter of the school year, we had Pistang Pinoy. Native Philippine' delicacies were brought and shared. I still remember the games that we had. One of those games was Paper Kissing game in which you'll transfer a snall piece of paper using your mouth. It was very funny.

Red Turnip Presents Philippine Edition of Cock

Wazzup Pilipinas!

Red Turnip Theater, an upstart theater production founded by five known theater actors, presents the Philippine edition of "Cock", a straight play written by renowned British playwright Mike Bartlett. The play is steadily getting positive reviews locally in England and internationally since the play premiered in 2009, even getting a Laurence Olivier Award the year later.

"Cock" is about a gay man who realized he can still fall in love with a woman and is willing to cut short his relationship with his male lover just to love her.

Topper Fabregas plays John, the central character. John's relationship with his boyfriend (Niccolo Manahan) has begun to be rocky, and the rockiness started to even accelerate when John met a former teacher (Jenny Jamora). After an intimate night with her, John realized he is in love with her. It sparked a battle for love and sexual identity that reached a boiling point when John's boyfriend invited John and his new-found love for dinner. A fourth visitor, the dad of John's boyfriend, portrayed by the "King of Philippine Musical Theater" Audie Gemora in a rare straight play performance, stepped in, and the confrontation heats up.
