Basix Restaurant: Waffles, Cereals, Omelets and Everything Else Sumptuous for Breakfast

Wazzup Pilipinas!

We spent a family bonding opportunity at the Dusit Thani Manila hotel after my father was invited to try out a staycation at the said hotel. It was perfect timing to celebrate my sister’s high school graduation which was happening in just a few days from now. After a great dinner at the Benjarong Thai Royal Cuisine restaurant and an overnight at a magnificent hotel room, we woke up eager to try out the buffet breakfast at the Basix Restaurant of the hotel.

Basix Restaurant had quite a selection of food since it seems to contain the popular type of breakfast choices: American, Filipino, Continental and a few more to satisfy your appetite. Our breakfast here was the best we’ve experienced so far, because everything was so delicious, like an adventure for our taste buds.

Witnessing the surroundings, everything was portrayed conveniently so you wouldn’t look like a lost kid searching for your parents. We got our plates, and raided each station to our hearts content. We chose food to make the perfect breakfast; I chose cereal, waffles and pancakes, bread, noodles, rice with franks, corned beef, chicken curry, bacon and finally yogurt (carbs on carbs on carbs on carbs on carbs on carbs...hehehe….just joking).

At first, I was reluctant to grab food, but still I had my fill anyway. You can also choose to have your breakfast with either hot chocolate or the fruit juice of your choice. You also have the option to let your chef cook up an omelet, with your own personalized fillings you will choose from what’s available at the kitchen counter where lots of eggs were also displayed.

For the pancakes and waffles, you have the option to choose your fruit toppings and maple syrup, best part: you can virtually drown your pancakes with fruit and syrup (also, there was butter).

The cereal was good; you have your choice of grain from rice crispies to cornflakes with your choice of dried fruits and nuts. Also, you pick what type of milk you’ll have with it. You have a choice of Skim milk, Fresh milk, Soy milk (for you lactose-intolerant people out there) and chocolate milk (Good choice for children who hate the dull taste of milk).

The noodles, you can pick either Soba or Udon. The available toppings were onion leaves, seaweed (nori, popular in Japan), Japanese tofu, egg (either "itlog maalat"/salted egg or normal egg) calamansi, soy sauce and patis (fish sauce for you foreign people).

The bread is something not to miss; they have baguettes, muffins, Danishes, doughnuts, soft rolls and hard rolls.

There was a whole section for dairy products, from cheese to yogurt (both with different varieties).

I also need to mention that the restaurant had the traditional Filipino delicacies like "puto", "maja blanca", "taho", "tsokolate", "champorado" and many others.

We would like to thank Basix Restaurant of Dusit Thani Manila Hotel for satisfying our taste buds as early as 6 am. Breakfast ends at 10 am.
