It was a colorful festivity of more than 24 national cultures in one event.

The Asia Pacific Global Village (AP GV) bridged the Asian region and some countries from Oceania and Latin America to celebrate culture and globalization last March 22, 2014 at the Samsung Hall, SM Aura Premier, Taguig City.

As the world’s largest youth network that provides a leadership platform through exchange programs to over 120 countries, AIESEC hosted AP GV to promote cultural diversity and relativism, as well as individual nationalism and tourism.

“We brought all these young delegates from all over Asia to let the people see how diverse the world really is. But more importantly we wanted to highlight the interesting differences of humanity to discover and emphasize that our core isn’t entirely different at all,” AIESEC President Audrey Elumba said.

The cultural festival had country booths that exhibited a country’s famous emblems, delicacies, and activities. International delegates also had the chance to promote their own countries and participated in dance performances while wearing iconic national costumes throughout the event.

“Most world maps don’t even have New Zealand on it, and being able to represent my country in the Global Village makes me such a proud citizen and I could share why to the other people present here,” foreign delegate Kim Young Su shared.

AP GV was also graced by the performances of the Bayanihan Dance Troupe, UP Concert Chorus, UP Kontra-GaPi and Korean Cultural Center among others. A national costume and couture fashion show also took place in the event.

“You get to appreciate talent that’s very different from what you’re used to seeing and you get to see how culture is valued by different countries by how they choose to present it,” Asian-Australian Stephanie Tan said.

AP GV was part of the Asia Pacific Conference, the organization’s largest regional apex hosted by AIESEC Philippines this 2014.

The Asia Pacific Global Village was made possible by Megaworld, Bank of the Philippine Islands, Citibank, Mcdonald’s, Petit Monde, Karimadon, Mary Kay, and Universal Robina Corporation, with special thanks to Pepsi Co. It was co-presented by Fox International Channels, in partnership with SM Aura Premier and Samsung Hall, and in coordination with WhenInManila.com, ClickTheCity, Rappler, Interaksyon.com Chalk, and Wazzup Pilipinas.
