R16 Korea is an annual international B-Boy tournament and urban arts cultural festival sponsored primarily by the Korea Tourism Organization and the South Korean Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism. The competition is participated by 50 different nations having their own local champions and going thru regional process before going to Korea for the World Finals.

There will be a festival that features graffiti artists, street wear designers, musical performers and dancers who specialize in hip-hop, popping, locking and other urban arts subcultures from South Korea and other countries.

Based on a theme of "Respect” (which is what the "R" in R-16 refers to), the tournament and festivals were first held in 2007 in the city of Seoul.

R16 2013 successfully staged “R16” as the biggest professional Bboy competition sanctioned by the Korea Tourism Government.

These efforts produced a Bboy Team Philippines that represented the country in the Southeast Asia Regionals in Singapore wherein they landed Silver. The same team went on to become Champions in Challenge Cup (a Southeast Asian Bboy competition) held in Taiwan last November 2013.

With a mission to bring B-Boy and Hip Hop culture to a professional level where it’s no longer about entertainment, but more about glory, honor and respect, the R16 Philippines National Championships will soon make the Filipinos proud again, win or lose!

Good luck to all the competing spirits!!!
