Going Back From Where I Started: K-Popping with the Infinite

Wazzup Pilipinas!

K-Pop is one of the booming type of music today. K-Pop or Hallyu Wave pertains to people who are into Korean music, dramas, food - in other words, Korean culture.

Usually K-Pop is a genre of music which deals with popular music in South Korea.  This type of music and dance is usually performed by different idol groups.

Infinite, EXO, SHINee, Girl's Generation, Super Junior, TVXQ, U-Kiss, and 2ne1 are the usually groups that are well-known in Korea.

K-Pop isn't new to me, but in the later part of my sophomore year, the spirit of being a K-pop burst and popped out naturally unto me. Yes, I admit! I don't like K-pop before and it really pisses me off. However, there's something that I can't resist. I guess the upbeat music, dance steps, and specially the good-looking idols (K-pop group members are called idols.)

I started liking K-pop groups when I was on my elementary days. Girl's Generation, 2ne1- where Sandara Park, our pambansang krung-krung is included, Kara, and many more are the groups I' am into. Later on, I started to lie low.

Recently, last November 3, 2013 at Araneta Coliseum, the group Infinite conducted their first solo concert here - the OGS (One Great Step). Infinite members are Kim Sungkyu, Kim Myungsoo, Nam Woohyun, Jang Dongwoo, Lee Hoya, Lee Sungyeol, and the maknae or the youngest, Lee Sungjong.

I attended the concert with my friend Michael Murphy, his mom, and his cousin Ate Pam who are also fans of the group. I'm so excited that day, that finally the opportunity to see them, and watching a concert for the first time happened to my life. We took pictures before the concert started. Many fans attended the concert and enjoyed their performance.

The Infinite performed their recent released album Destiny for the opening acts. They line up of songs they performed were Come Back Again - their debut song, Before the Dawn,Can You Smile, Tic Toc, Hysterie, The Chaser, Be Mine, Nothing's Over, almost of their songs except their old ballads. The members had their own solo performances, where Myungsoo serenade the fans using his aegyo (cuteness) and his guitar ability, Woohyun who proposed to a lucky fan girl and many more.

The crowd were very entertained, and screams filled the dome. The concert started 8 p.m. until 10 p.m. The moment the concert will soon be ended and the members one-by-one gave their messages. My tears flowed down and I started crying. I didn't noticed the time that the concert was about to end. The moment I'm in there was like my world was in cloud 9. I really felt so much happiness and enjoyment.

But now, the feeling of going on a concert again will be coming soon. I'm looking forward for my 12 wolves to have their own solo concert. So, EXO fandom get ready!! I need to save money for it, so that I will have the opportunity to see my precious bias Byun Baekhyun. And my shirt and my friend's shirt were ready for it. I'm really looking forward to it. So exciting!

  2. Woah! I didn't know you really hated k-pop the first time. It just doesn't look like you hated it. Anyway, now, I know how you end up as a crazy k-pop fanatic hahaha. Thank you for sharing this. Actually, I'm starting to like korean music as well but I think I may not be a 100% fan of it like you :) But I am currently into K-dramas which my friend influenced me. Hahaha. Nice article, hope you'll meet your EXO biased soon :) Hahaha Heart heart. :D

  3. Aww I really like your article! Well unlike you, I've been a kpop fan ever since I was in fifth grade, though I don't really fangirl and show it out of the blue because I held myself restraint. Probably when I get to meet my ultimate bias, I would shed a tear like you did on your last picture. I probably wouldn't be able to control myself and scream like crazy as if its the end of the world if that would happen! I wish we can reach our dreams of seeing our exo bias soon! hwaiting!~

  4. WOw. You're so lucky to have seen your idol. Actually, I just turned to being a K-pop(per) last year because of one particular person from an all boys group. I actually didn't get the tones of their song until recently. I actually didn't care until I met that person. Well now, I am part of the so called K-POP fandom.
