NCR Palarong Pambansa 2014 Kicks Off Opening Ceremonies at San Juan

The Palarong Panrehiyon of the NCR Palarong Pambansa 2014 opened up with several activities last January 20, 2014 at the Pinaglabanan Shrine located near the new San Juan City Government Center.

The Palarong Pambansa, dubbed as the "National Games, is an annual multi-sporting event involving student-athletes from seventeen (17) regions of the Philippines organized and governed by the Department of Education or DepEd.

Student-athletes from private and non-private schools from elementary and secondary levels are legitimately can joined the national event as long as they are qualified and they are regional champions.

The celebration started off with a parade at around 3 pm participated by several delegates including students, leaders and officials of the different schools from all NCR divisions including Pasig, Pateros, Taguig, Paranaque, Makati, Marikina, San Juan, Las Pinas, Caloocan, Malabon, Mandaluyong, Manila, Muntinlupa, Navotas, Pasay, Valenzuela, and Quezon City.

The parade included the J.E. Band and Bugle Corps, Drum and Lyre of Salapan Elementary School, and the different colorful flags of San Juan, DepEd NCR, among many others.














During the opening ceremonies, the national anthem was sang by Jeramie Sanico and the Opening Prayers was led by Christian Jeremy Aguila. The Welcome Remarks  was done by Dr. Rowena A. Cacanindin of San Juan. Opening Remarks was done by Dr. Luz S. Almeda, Director of CESO IV NCR.


There were several performances during the opening ceremonies of the Palarong Panrehiyon 2014 done mostly by the youth showcasing their many talents.

  







Mayors and Congressmen were also given awards to recognize their valued participation with regards to the projects of DepEd NCR.





It was then followed by the raising of flags led by the San Juan Mayor, Honorable Guia G. Gomez.

Christian Tyler Chan Tio, the former Basketball MVP of Palarong Pambansa of 2011 lighted up the symbolic torch and urn of Peace and Unity.

Katrina Marie Beatrice D. Evangelista and Paolo Tabirara led the oathtaking for the players and officials respectively.


The ceremonies ended with a wet and wild striking performance and dance numbers composed of a Bolo Dance, Santong Tao and Wattah! Wattah!.


There was also a Mayor's Night held at the Gloria Maris Restaurant located in Greenhills, San Juan at around 8 pm. The Mayor's Night was a night of elegance and diversity showcasing exemplary musical talents in allusion to sportsmanship and camaraderie between NCR cities as bonds to last a lifetime.



The stage was set and ready for the NCR Palarong Panrehiyon 2014 Mayor's Night.


 The performers were led by the talented Bituin Escalante. The night was also an opportunity for the city of San Juan to showcase their city especialy its plan to make it a highly progressive city several years from now.

The different sports competitions will be held at several locations across NCR between January 21 to 24. The secondary level will have 33 events while the elementary level will have 17 events. Events include swimming, basketball, taekwondo, tennis, voleyball, archery, arnis, badminton, athletics, boxing, chess, football, gymnastics, sepak takraw, table tennis, softball, paralympics, and dancesports.

 
The Closing Ceremonies will be held at the Flying V Oil Arena (also known as the San Juan Arena) on January 25 at around 3 pm.

  1. My Cousin a 9 years old boy . a SPED boy that is one of the contestant for this event ...
    My only concern is regarding the Organizer of this specific event .. what you did was painful for parents like us.. i hope you may do some actions to this


    1. You stated that event will start in 9am .. But you start around 1pm..
    2. You already started late then you get you didnt manage to handle 1st the SPED contestants did you know that most of those child already having their tantrums ..
    3. some of the parents already caught your attention but what you did was unacceptable you didnt even have any concerns to this children..

    4. all this children want is to play for this special event .. we supposed to have equal treatments and you supposed to plan for this certain event...


    in total its not a good 2014 palarong pambansa ... hopefully those who are involved in this event should realize what you did to this SPED children ... YOU ARE SO UNFAIR
