Filipino or Japanese Greeting?

Wazzup Pilipinas!

What is the better style of greeting? Filipino or Japanese? What country has the better way of greeting people?

Firs of all, what is greeting? It is a polite word or a sign of welcome or recognition. What are the importance of greeting? This is important, especially when meeting someone and when having some events. This should be use to show some respect or sign of welcome to the person in front of you. Even if you don't know the person, still you should greet him/her.

Sushi-licious!

Wazzup Pilipinas!

My 15th birthday was unarguably one of the best birthdays I've ever had. Why, you ask?

Well, besides the fact that I received a lot of b-day greetings from my family, real-life friends, and internet friends (which really means a lot to me), my family prepared a truckload of food!- well, not exactly a truckload, but you get my point.

We had carbonara, menudo, chicken BBQ, fried liempo, relyenong bangus and many more. But out of all the delicious food on the table, my favorite was my huge sushi bilao!

See? It even has my name on it! (credit to: Annie Raganit)

My face doesn't even begin to describe what I feel inside: PURE BLISS (credit to Annie Raganit)

My sister surprised me with this! She bought it for me using her very first paycheck. I was so very happy because sushi is one of my favorite food! My sushi bilao only had three kinds of sushi: California maki, kanimaki, and kappa maki. But even so, I was very happy.

Now what exactly is sushi?

(credits to: Sushi Tips)

Sushi has been around for thousands of years. It dates back to 4th century BC in Southeast Asia and around 8th century AD, it was introduced to Japan. Since then, it has been the most popular Japanese food in the world. With sushi being a $14 billion industry in Japan, it's no wonder that it has symbolized Japanese cuisine around the world.

Sushi is usually made out of cold, cooked, sticky Japanese rice soaked in wine called "sake" that is rolled into bite-sized pieces with either fish, eggs or vegetables as the fillings. With the wide variety of ingredients to choose from, it's no wonder that there are over a hundred different kinds of sushi.

(credits to: Gourmet Traveller)

Sushi was originally created to be a way to preserve food. But now, it has been treated as a cuisine and an art. Did you know that sushi chefs or itamae undergo through rigorous training that can take up to 20 years just to perfect the art of making sushi? They have to be trained to identify important aspects of making sushi like the smell, color, firmness, and freedom from parasites to ensure that the sushi is safe to eat.Talk about dedication! That is why you can usually find master itamae in high-end classy restaurants! But this doesn't mean you can't enjoy sushi made from your usual restaurants.

Sushi is for everyone of any age. Young or old, male or female, Japanese or non-Japanese, everyone can eat sushi! But what most people don't know is, there is a whole set of proper etiquette of eating sushi:

(credits to: The World's Best Ever)
So the next time you enjoy a sushi or two, keep in mind the common courtesy needed. Nevertheless, you still have to remember to say itadakimasu! and thank Japan for being bringing this wonderful and unique dish into this world.

What are you waiting for? Let's eat sushi!

Yoshinoya: A Great Place to Eat!

Wazzup Pilipinas!

My most favorite Japanese restaurant in the Philippines is Yoshinoya.

Yoshinoya can be found at the following places: Glorieta, Robinsons Galleria, SM City Manila, SM City North EDSA, SM Mall of Asia, and SM Megamall. The one I went to is in SM Megamall.

Yoshinoya is the largest beef bowl restaurant, founded by Eikichi Matsuda, and one of Japan's fast food chain that is established in 1899.

There’s something in particular about Yoshinoya that I really like. Whenever I walk in to this restaurant I feel, relaxed and comfortable, it feels much like home. When you first walk into the restaurant, the ambience is very light, and very welcoming. The color of the wall is very warm, and the furniture matches the description of ‘Yoshinoya’. The furnitures are made from wood, which is very nice. And since ’Yoshino’ is a place in Japan where the founder of the restaurant came from, and ‘ya’ means house.

Japan is known as the "Land of the Rising Sun" which means "sun's origin." Philippines is also known as the "Republic of the Philippines." Philippines also has it's famous slogan "It's more fun in the Philippines" which was launched by the Department of Tourism. Talking about the people of both countries, people living in Japan are called Japanese while the people living in the Philippines are called Filipinos.

Japanese or Filipino? Kimono or Baro't Saya?

Wazzup Pilipinas!

What if you were given an opportunity to choose which nationality will you have? Will you choose to have a new nationality, which is to be a Japanese? Or will you still choose to stay in the Philippines and be a Filipino?

In this upcoming August, Filipinos will be celebrating "Buwan ng Wika". As expected, Filipinos should be wearing the traditional barong tagalog (for men) and baro't saya (for women). The Baro’t saya is the unofficial national dress of the Philippines and is worn by women. The name is a contraction of the Tagalog words baro at saya, meaning "dress and skirt". The barong Tagalog (or simply barong) is an embroidered formal garment of the Philippines. It is very lightweight and worn untucked over an undershirt. In Filipino culture it is a common wedding and formal attire, mostly for men but also for women.

GSK Paracetamol Calpol : Using Music as Therapy for Sick Children

Wazzup Pilipinas!

It is said that music soothes the soul.

Indeed it does. I believe in that statement, and I've tried it so much that I can proudly say out loud that music can indeed make a big difference in changing your mood and your perception in many things once you get to hear and be influenced psychologically by what you hear..

Especially when you need comfort and relaxation, we need all the love that the music emanates. Whether it may be RNB, Pop or Rock

This also holds true among children who are ill. Foreign health experts recommend the use of music to deliver positive changes In children’s psychological, physical and cognitive development and the improvement of the social functioning of children with health or educational conditions.

Galapad from Galaxy Microsystems : Another Tablet PC for The Growing Mobile Community

Wazzup Pilipinas!

The explosion of mobile devices has gone exponential. Whether powered by Apple iOS, Android,Blacberry, Windows, or any of the other mobile OS, it is with no doubt that everyone has gone mobile and online.

Imagine a world were everyone is always connected and informed. Now that is something great to look forward to - unless somebody uses it for an evil scheme - Nah! but maybe - along with the development comes coders, programmers or developers with the skills to dramatically change the world through apps and the codes running them.

Right now the "in" thing to keep connected and look "cool" at the same time are the tablet PCs, and what makes them fascinating is that they keep becoming as powerful as the PC.

Japanese Food: Temaki-zushi or Simply "Temaki"

Wazzup Pilipinas!

Honestly, I never tasted one kind of Sushi, so I have no idea what to write about this food so please bear with me.

Temaki is a kind of sushi which is a large cone-shaped piece of nori on the outside and the ingredients spilling out the wide end. Btw, nori is an edible seaweed. According to Wikipedia, a typical temaki is about ten centimeters (4 in) long, and is eaten with fingers because it is too awkward to pick it up with chopsticks. For optimal taste and texture, Temaki must be eaten quickly after being made because the nori cone soon absorbs moisture from the filling and loses its crispness and becomes somewhat difficult to bite. For this reason, the nori in pre-made or take-out temaki is sealed in plastic film which is removed immediately before eating.

We even go to cons (cons- conferences of anime or cosplayers or toys) just to see our favorite anime characters get cosplayed.

Summer at Its Best When Spent with the Ones You Love

Wazzup Pilipinas!

“Day walks, nights talks, sleepless nights, pillow fights, and spending everyday with those who matter most. That’s summer.”

Summer is the season where all you’re going to do is think of what you should do. It’s also the time when all you want to do is go back to school because you’re missing it. You’re missing the school, the fun, the teachers and everything. There are moments when all you want to do is lie down the bed and sleep all day, talk to every people you think about, or eat everything you can.

That’s summer. Spending some time with your friends during seasons like this is one of the best feeling ever. It feels like you’ve got the most awesome friends in this whole wide world.

Building Relationships... Building Memories

Wazzup Pilipinas!

Not every one of us was able to go to beach resorts or pools for this summer, but I know that somehow we’ve spent it in ways that we want to. Just like how I spent mine. Actually, my summer experience may be divided into two major events: One is the scheduled one, while the second one is an on-the-spot event.

For the first part of my summer, I and my friends went to the oldest university in the Philippines, the University of Santo Tomas or UST. It took us quite big money and quite a long time to go there, but when we reached it, I thought to myself: “It was worth it.” On our way inside the University, we decided to take as many pictures as we can.

Asus Fonepad Review : Will It Be Your Next Tablet Upgrade?

Wazzup Pilipinas!

From the same brand that gave us the Transformer Pad and the Taichi, now comes the Fonepad, one of the few seven-inch tablets with 3G phone and internet access ever introduced here in the Philippines.

You must admit that a seven-inch tablet pressed to your ear will surely turn a few heads. You should be prepared for some rather odd stares from strangers should you decide to put the FonePad to your ear and make a phone call in public. A device or gadget that can be used as a standard smartphone aside from being a tablet, will surely looked great as promised.

The strikingly cool looking Asus FonePad is one of those combination or merging of a Smartphone and a tablet - more widely accepted to be called a "Phablet".

Torque Droidz Drive : My First Glimpse, Review to Follow

ISPs in the Philippines - Money Talks - Morale Walks

Wazzup Pilipinas!

I've come across a very interesting write-up at a forum in Garena, and as a gamer we've actually known the problem (and the culprit) a long time ago already, and with this particular write-up (or more likely a complaint) it just reaffirms our suspicion and wild guess, or most probably our very educated assumption (being an IT and ECE and all familiar with technology specifically in telecommunications.

This is definitely true whether they deny it or not, or have a SMART reasoning or excuse, it all boils down to who has the most money to spend just to get away with obvious mischief.

"Here in Philippines there are a lot of other causes for latency for us gamers - the worst being PLDT - yes you read that right, PLDT is intentionally disrupting online gaming in the Philippines. I will explain in greater detail".

I assume you've experienced long delays on texting between Globe and SMART or vice versa?

I've never come across any other Telco being as manipulative towards their customers as PLDT/SMART.

 Seized WIMAX modems

Wazzup Pilipinas!

Globe Telecom has filed charges against 13 individuals involved in the illegal sale and installation of hacked Globe WIMAX modems and Tattoo sticks since the start of the year.

Twelve of these individuals have already been charged with cases for violation of Republic Act 8484 or the Access Devices Regulations Act while one of the suspects was charged with theft.

In most of the cases, the modus operandi has been to pull-out the WIMAX modem from legitimate subscribers on pretext of an upgrade. The modems are then reconfigured and sold at a one-time cost payment.

Black Beauty Shampoo : Keeps The Hair Your Best Asset

Wazzup Pilipinas!

Having fine hair is something that I like but hate at the same time. Kind of confusing don't you think?

Fine hair is generally is a term used if the diameter of your hair strand is thinner than the normal or the average diameter. This could also mean that the hair can look limp and lifeless if applied with too much products.

I've had several occasions where my fine hair looked dull and limp. Its more embarrassing to see photos of it! But fret not, here are some fixes you could do for your hair.

Hilltop Pools in Antipolo, Rizal : Family Bonding Experience

Wazzup Pilipinas!

Summer vacation is a great time for family and friends to have fun and bond with each other. It gives us time to know each and everyone in the family. We learn many things about them, their likes and dislikes, their favorites and so much more.
Last summer, we had some family reunions. We had one in Antipolo and just recently in Laguna. A birthday party of two of my cousins was held in Laguna, it was in a private resort. I'm not really sure about the name but it has air conditioned rooms and had 2 pools, the other one is a kiddie pool and it has a slide. This was a much simpler resort compared to those I've been to.

I am not really close to that side of my family since they're from Quezon, but I can say I had fun because I was with my cousins who are close to me.

A friend of mine got to drink, dine, party and will soon be driving in style (with a chauffeur) in a brand new Jaguar XF 2014 as the event also gave away  a 24 hour ride in a Jaguar to anywhere in Metro Manila. This is your daily soundtrack, in a dot!

Get up, clean the house, shower, go to work or school, sleep, and eat in between. These are activities we’ve turned into a routine everyday—give or take a few parties and/or vacations. Wouldn’t we all want to change it up a little to make doing these things much more fun?
