Noel: An OFW Christmas Story

Wazzup Pilipinas!

There is this interesting short video now circulating on YouTube that was produced by SM Global Pinoy. It is based around an Overseas Filipino Worker (OFW)  which experiences Christmas on his computer. It is an OFW Christmas story for the Facebook generation.

What is shown in the video is an OFW communicating with his friends and family through Facebook and Skype on a Christmas eve. The video is purely on a computer monitor and what the OFW does on his computer (browse, chat, etc..) we as the viewer see.

Its a very interesting and unique video which embraces what a lot of Filipinos whom are an OFW or have an OFW loved one experience on a Christmas day. We hope you would like it also and share it through your social networks and area of influence.

Right now, this generation has a lot of convenience and ease of access or communication with their loved ones abroad or in another part of the country thanks to Facebook, Skype and other social media networks.

We definitely have a lot to thank the Internet, and the emergence of social media, for bringing us a lot closer to our loved ones who are distant from us. We can stay connected with everyone else wherever they are located, even just within the Philippines, or within our neighborhood. The technology has made us very easily within reach.

You'll fall in love with the typical Filipino family depicted in the video, plus the surprise ending between our man and his girlfriend at the end of the story.

The video is actually all about the Filipino as a whole.

  1. Personally as I watched the video I was really touched because it was able to show to the people here in the Philippines oh the reality our OFW's were experiencing, the sadness and hopelessness they felt every Christmas that they were not with their family. Even on christmas day they have their work or duties that instead of buying their noche buena they would rather save it. Their tradition of sending gifts in the form of balik bayan boxes just to make us happy. This video really portrayed a true story and I think for that two thumbs up. Thanks to internet and other social medias because of them sadness of our OFW's were somehow lessen. I'm proud to all the OFW's abroad. And I'm proud to be a daughter of an OFW. :) <3

  2. Internet connects us to our love ones all over the world. This is the best thing that the internet could do. Having an OFW relative made me and my family experience that kind of connect. Even though they are thousands of miles away from us and minutes or hours beyond or ahead from each other, the fact that you are celebrating the special season together made us all happy and contented. We, Filipinos have the best way to celebrate Christmas. The video shows the world our family tradition every Christmas season that we will do everything just to be with the important person in our life physically or by heart. :)

I can truly relate in this article because I am a daughter of an OFW. It's really hard to celebrate this kind of event if you're not with your loved ones. Good thing someone invented Skype or other social medias, where we can connect to those who are far from us. The video is worth-a-share, and I salute you, Mr. Esteban for such a thing. ;)
