DWDD : First And Only Radio Station in PHL to Offer Mobile-Ready Live Streaming

Wazzup Pilipinas!

AM radio station DWDD, which is operated by the Armed Forces of the Philippines Civil-Military Relations Service (AFP-CRS), has launched a groundbreaking technology feature in Philippine radio broadcasting industry with the first mobile-ready live streaming in its website.

As of fourth quarter 2013, DWDD is the only radio station in the country with readily available live online streaming on Apple and Android phones and tablets.

iPhone, iPad and Android device users do not no need to download any mobile app from Apple Apps Store and Google Play to view DWDD’s live streaming.

Maj. Michael Aquino, DWDD station manager remarked: “Rolling out this new online technology, DWDD is upping the ante in Philippine radio programming.”

“While other radio stations conceptualized mobile live streaming a few years ago, they failed to readily offer live streaming in their websites. Other radio websites still require its listeners to download an app or plugin to enable their live streaming feature,” Aquino said.

The radio station’s innovative website (http://dwdd.com.ph) is featuring the latest responsive web design platform that automatically adjusts its fluid layout and flexible images across all devices, including Windows and Apple computers (desktops and notebooks), internet-ready tablets and smartphones, and Smart TVs.

The station’s responsive web design approach is aimed to provide optimal mobile device viewing experience that eliminates resizing and panning on smaller screens.

Allowing Websites to be viewed across all platforms has become a recent online presence trend. Google said, “media interactions today are on a screen, and businesses that allow users to interact with their brand across all platforms and on all devices are able to generate more engagement.” (https://www.google.co.uk/think/articles/business-perspective.html)

“Being the most advanced and most frequently updated website in the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) organization, DWDD sets a new standard in the country’s radio broadcasting industry. The AFP is proud to operate the first radio station in the Philippines to offer live streaming readily on mobile devices,” said BGen. Rolando G. Jungco, AFP-CRS chief.
