Kainan sa Kalye Kanluran (KKK) : Revolutionary Filipino Cuisine

Wazzup Pilipinas!

You have to admit that "looks" really bring out a great first impression. If you see how extraordinary a place is decorated or furnished, then you somehow get an expectation that there's probably a lot more interesting things they can offer.

This is what happened to me after I passed by the SM Megamall branch of Kainan sa Kalye Kanluran or KKK for short. They also call it KKK Food Revolution, and maybe Kainan ng mga Kapuso at Kapamilya (at Kapatid) since celebrities from the different TV stations frequent the restaurant. KKK also once held on the acronym of K3 after the emergence of its 3rd outlet at the Robinson's Place Manila.

I rarely go through the basement path at Building B of the SM Megamall so even though they've been there for so long, it was my first time to see this restaurant. Luckily, I took the road less traveled that day so I was fortunate enough to see for the first time a gem of a restaurant.

They said their very first branch is located in West Avenue, Quezon City. It was opened way back the year 2002 and was also a superb display of architectural prowess. The Filipino word for West is "Kanluran" - so that's where the restaurant got its name. So they really have a passion to catch the fancy of prospective clients by luring them in with their classy and unique interiors, and keeping them as "suki" by serving them delightful Pinoy foods that truly deserves an award..

Actually, my infatuation with the Philippine Jeepney ("Dyip" in Tagalog) as a national icon also was responsible why my attention was caught unexpectedly. They made their counter area looked like the sides of a jeepney - Amazing!

I believe that's the first thing any business needs to do - create an interest to their product or service by making themselves look awesome!

Now the second thing, for a restaurant, is to have equally great food! Then add up a spectacular service from their crew and store management - All necessary to sustain the momentum!

Sinigang with all its veggie splendor!...plus some crispy strips of pork on top

Making the Filipino Adobo more dramatic - makes you wanna keep it looking great but you really need to try it out to get amazed with the taste

They served us two types of "sinangag" or fried rice (above and below)

Some strips of salted eggs and tomatoes -to decorate and taste - on top of this fried rice

These are must-have fishes fried and served elegantly  (still waiting for its name) - with a matching taste that will definitely get approval even from your eccentric mood

Now this one undoubtedly made it to my list of favorites. - I'ved tried a lot of these type of dish but this one made it on top

Buko Pandan drink - best served cold with plenty of ice for better drinking experience

I am definitely a fan of seafood - and this one punctuated it with an exclamation point !!!

Veggies galore combined with pork bits - and that's "chicharon" on top!

We were served with 5 types of drinks, the fiurst one was the Buko Pandan drink, and these four are the Tanglad juice, Sampalok shake, Kamias shake, and the Pandan juice

Our dessert to share with the group was Banana Fritters ala Mode (turonitos topped with ArceDairy's Mantecado Ice Cream)

Krispy Kangkong Salad - "kangkong"with strips of "singkamas" and tomatoes drizzled with house dressing, and laid on top of some lettuce - splendid as starter to start up your day right!

Bistek Flakes - a tower of shredded beef flanks served with caramelized onions and tomatoes sprinkled with the traditional beef steak sauce.

Do I really need to tell you the names of the dishes? I'm actually still waiting for the precise names of the other dishes that will be coming from the branch manager. Believe me - some of the names were really not the typical and standard way of naming dishes so I had some problem remembering. But who needs the names, when the looks are really appetizing already. I also guarantee that you'll enjoy the taste as well!

Incorporate global standards by providing world-class amenities, top-notch facilities and giving that extra effort of providing exceptional personalized service so that customers will feel they got a lot of value for their money.

Proudly KKK - symbolizing the revolution once led by Andres Bonifacio. Today, KKK leads a different kind of revolution towards our taste buds!

I count 10 dishes, 1 dessert and 5 drinks - All deserving of a praise - and a visit form you! They're waiting for you to feast on them truly attractive and adorable bunch.

To attract - and keep - your customers by having all of these qualities at your restaurant. Add to this a variety and a regular introduction of new dishes to maintain the customers' interest - so that they'll always have something new to look forward to on their next visits. Keep the most popular dishes, and offer new ones - that's the recipe for a successful business!

KKK has been serving Filipino foods with a twist for years already and even though there have been a lot of newer restaurants offering the same promise of revolutionary Pinoy foods - nothing beats the original for pioneering our all-time favorite dishes.

Be sure to get back to your roots, and visit KKK to try out their palatable dishes and compare the difference with others all claiming to be the best Pinoy restaurant.
