The Final Fiesta : My Last Pistang Pinoy

Wazzup Pilipinas!

I can honestly say that the “Pistang Pinoy” is one event I will miss once I graduate from high school and go to college, since colleges usually don’t have these celebrations. I will miss all the laughter, the games, the fun times, and so much more. But actually I will miss the food.

Every year I get to try yummy Filipino foods, and since this is our last year we went all out. For a reasonable price we were able to hire a catering service (which happens to be my classmates’) to prepare food for us for the event. This was the first time I have experienced being catered for our Pistang Pinoy and I enjoyed it a lot. Not only did we save on energy and effort, but we were also able to feast on some very delicious food.

We had tender and smoky pork barbecue on sticks, which became one of my personal favorites.

We also had sisig, which is another favourite of mine. Although, this time I did not fully enjoy it since there was a bit of a bitter taste from the pork liver. But it was still delicious.

We also had chopsuey with quail eggs. A healthy portion of our meal that is packed with vitamins and minerals from the different vegetables present.

Now this is the food I enjoyed the most in our meal: pansit malabon. It is full of flavor and I enjoyed the squid rings and crushed chicharon that topped the pansit.

For the “ulam”, we had a twist of the usual ‘caldereta’. The twist is we used chicken instead of beef in our caldereta. It turned out to be really delicious and the sauce is tasty when topped in your rice.

Of course, we had rice, the staple food of Juan.

We also had buko pandan for dessert and apple juice for our drink.

I really enjoyed the food this year. I can say that this year’s Pistang Pinoy had the best food in all my years of staying at PCSHS. I know that my classmates enjoyed the food as well.

This year we went all out, since this is our last one. I will never forget this Pistang Pinoy where I enjoyed delicious Filipino flavors together with the company of my beloved classmates.
