Globe Telecom’s 2012 Annual Sustainability Report bagged the Gold Award at the 27th International ARC Awards, a highly-esteemed global competition honoring outstanding achievement in annual reports.

Globe won in the Combined Annual and Sustainability Report Category. This year, the ARC received a record-breaking 2,260 entries from 34 countries, making it the largest annual report competition in the world.

“We are proud to be conferred the Gold Award for this initiative. Globe always strives for excellence and it shows even in our Annual Sustainability Report. We make sure that through our ASR, we are able to provide not only a venue to announce the company’s milestones and achievements but also give our stakeholders a complete picture of the ongoing commitments of Globe to economic, environment and social services,” said Yoly C. Crisanto, Head of Globe Corporate Communications.

Globe is the first local telecommunications firm to meet international standards when it came out with its ASR in 2011. Using the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) standards, it gives assurance to stakeholders that all information disclosed are accurate and reliable. Its ASR has also received recognition in the past years from The Philippine Quill, Anvil, and the Indonesia Sustainability Reporting Awards.

For the ARC Awards, the top winners will be feted at the exclusive Gold & Grand Gala to be held on September 26, 2013 at the Trump Soho Hotel in New York City. Aside from picking the 2013 Best of Show from among all the winners, those who will receive the Platinum and Titanium Achievement Awards will also be revealed during the ceremonies.

Winners of the Gold, Silver, Bronze, and Honors Awards comprised the top 30% of the entries based on the judges’ scores. Each annual report was judged against itself, based on its success in communicating the company's story. Criteria included Cover Design, Chairman’s Letter, Writing, Interior Design, Financial Presentation, and Overall.

Each entry was evaluated three separate times during the preliminary rounds with a certain minimum score needed to qualify for an award. Only one Gold, Silver, Bronze and Honors Award was given in each classification.

Preliminary judging was carried out independently by panels of judges representing leaders in the fields of investor relations, writing, design and photography from over 90 different agencies and corporations all over the world while final judging was made by presidents, CEOs and other senior executives of corporations, agencies, and design firms.

The ARC Awards, established by MerComm, Inc. in 1987, were created to honor overall excellence in annual reports, and to encourage noteworthy and vital writing, as well as imaginative and original design. Being the world’s only independent awards organization, MERCOMM, Inc. does not solicit advertising, membership dues, or outside sponsorships.
