Barbie of the Philippines is Among the Dolls of the World

Wazzup Pilipinas!

There is this leading toy distributor in the Philippines, called Richprime Global Inc., that now brings you the Dolls of the World collection.  This collection include the very popular doll named Barbie. The Dolls of the World collection is one of the longest running series in Barbie doll history since 1980. THis puts Barbie in the spotlight as both a fashion icon and globetrotting jetsetter.

Wow! Imagine seeing more than 200 dolls representing six continents and nearly 100 countries. It will surely be an amazing sight.

At the 24th Philippine Travel Mart, we were able to see the actual doll plus a model representing the Filipino Barbie.

I could say that the model was able to perfectly represent the Philippines Barbie doll. The outfit was very similar with what the doll was wearing.

Though I don't really think it represented the real Filipina since Filipinas are not that tall even if wearing high heels.

However, with the mixed races being a popular "trend" recently, now that we are transcending continents and getting opportunities to travel and live outside the Philippines, the Filipino has become a global citizen already. Read "FilAms". Is it really the new and modern Filipina that the model or the doll is representing?

The outfit is a modern take on the country's Maria Clara gown, with dramatic alternating gold and black panels on the floor-length skirt.

The Tourism Promotions Board has partnered with Richprime Global Inc., to actively promote the "It's More Fun in the Philippines"  and boost tourism in the country via the iconic Barbie doll.

After all, who doesn't know Barbie?

It's the most popular doll among our children all over the world and has been featured in both TV and movies. Just like our national Jeepney or public transportation in the Philippines, the Barbie doll is widely know and appreciated by all ages.

It is already considered as a collectible sharing the limelight with other popular toys that has been around for ages.

There are more than 20 dolls representing the Asian continent in the line and the Philippines Barbie doll is the first ever to represent our country, the nation of 7,00+ islands. in the Western Pacific Ocean.

Is it a worthwhile toy for your collection? What do you think?

  1. The model perfectly represent the Philippines Barbie doll. The outfit was very similar with what the doll was wearing however as the articles said, Filipinas aren't that tall even when they wear high heels. This is a good idea especiall for female children who are fond of barbies because instead of patronizing barbies wearing different fashionly-designed outfits its better to buy this one so it could also remind the young generation of the past.

  2. It's a good thing that some people initiate to make our own Filipina barbie doll. It's very appropriate to our slogan it's more fun in the Philippines because little girls at abroad will be more interested of visiting our country. Also I'm sure that doll collectors will not missed this. I myself was also a collector of different barbie dolls, I have dolls representing different countries, different nations. None of these represents Philippines knowing the fact that it is my country. I think it would be worthwhile for my collection and for everyone collection because it does reflect the beauty of real filipinas :) and it's time for us to be proud of it =">>
