As part of its advocacy on sports development and advancement, leading telecommunications company Globe Telecom has thrown its support to the annual Asia-Pacific (ASPAC) Little League Baseball Regionals held at the Clark Freeport Zone in Pampanga recently.

In particular, Globe provided the connectivity requirements of the event, thereby, enabling spectators and guests to share their game experience to the world via social media such as Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram.

“Globe is an avid supporter of youth development through sports and we are happy to be given the opportunity to be a part of the ASPAC Little League Baseball this year. In addition, we are also proud to showcase what our modernized network can do in Clark Freeport Zone as baseball fans shared their experience to friends online all over the globe via their mobile phones,” said Yoly C. Crisanto, Head of Globe Corporate Communications.

The ASPAC tournament involved almost 1,000 boys and girls ages 11 to 18, representing 56 teams from 18 countries in Asia, the Pacific islands, Australia, and the Middle East. It was divided into five age groups for boys and another for girls. The winners, Chinese Taipei 11 and Korea 2 will represent the region in the World Series to be held in the U.S next month.

Little League baseball is one of the most popular youth-based programs globally with over two million participants from 100 countries. For the ASPAC tournament, the highlight was on the best players from the Philippines and the region.
