Spring Singapura: No! Its Not From Singapore! LOL!

Wazzup Pilipinas!

If the name was not descriptive enough of what to expect at Spring Singapura, then you probably haven't heard of Singapore.

Officially called the Republic of Singapore, it is a Southeast Asian island city-state off the southern tip of the Malay Peninsula. It is also an island country made up of 63 islands (not as many as our own Philippines). It is separated from Malaysia by the Straits of Johor to its north and from Indonesia's Riau Islands by the Singapore Strait to its south.

In Singapore, food is viewed as crucial to national identity and a unifying cultural thread. Singaporean literature declares eating as a national pastime and food, a national obsession (quite similar to the Philippines where there's a restaurant or food kiosks at every corner).

Experience the taste of authentic Singapore cuisine at Spring Singapura! It is definitely a great addition to the splendid global line up of restaurants now present in the Philippines.

Crab Party, their parent gastronomique company, located in the heart of Garden City at 100 Yio Chu Kang Road in front of the Serrangon Stadium, has been recognized by several culinary critics in the Lion's City state as one of the best places that serves the famous Singaporean Chili Crabs which is cooked in 8 different delicious ways.

They've even imported a Singaporean chef all the way from Singapore to ensure the authenticity of their menu.

Since Spring Singapura is new, they have no menu on their walls yet except for these that they've posted outside near their entrance. They sure need to speed up the process of putting up a counter menu or at least something on their walls showing better presentations of the food choices.

One thing I'm pretty sure of is that people are attracted to fancy menu showcasing the food in its most appetizing form. Photos sell the food already and helps convince potential customers to order whichever looks sensationally delicious.

As of this writing, the insides of Spring Singapura is decorated simply with not much of extravagant interiors except for  the chandeleirs hanging from their ceilings and the decorative glass tree fronting the entrance.

The place is almost all glowing red because even the chairs are all upholstered red and that somewhat gives a dim lighting. But you can ask them to open more lights if you do not fancy the mood.

For beverages, you have fruit juices, fruit shakes, coffee, ice teas, and even a My son Milo with whipped chocolate drink - and yes that's MILO the cholocolate malt drink.

The great mystery is how come Spring Singapura decided to use old menu. They were obviously old and used ironic to be used by a newly established restaurant in the Philippines. They should invest on reproducing a better version instead of using what seems to be an existing menu which probably came from Singapore.

The Laksa soup was really spicy, reminiscent of dishes at Bangkok,Thailand. However, there's a significant difference to its taste. I liked this better eventhough I am not a fan of spicy food. You may serve me all the drinks possible but I still won't binge on spicy dishes.

The Honey Crispy Baby Squid was a favorite appetizer to start the evening dinner right. I enjoyed the flavorful squids so much I think I ate a great majority of what was served to us.

I was looking for the coffee taste from the Brazilian Coffee Pork Ribs - but it seems not that prominent in the overall taste. It was sweet like the usual pork ribs and conveniently tender to chew.

Couldn't really feel fulfilled without rice as part of my meal, so the Hainanese Fragrant Chicken Rice was a great option. Complements the viands served to us.

The Hainanese Chicken is bland when eaten on its own. You can dip it in any of the three sauces to bring out the taste. Each sauce provides a unique flavor that were all quite appealing.

The Steamed Swimmer Lapu-lapu in Hong Kong Sauce was very tasty. I prefer seafood so I am biased to anything caught from the sea except for pirates and mermaids (the human half).

The Twin Taste Bokchoy Stir Fry Spicy Chicken Floss is something you don't see everyday, and it was surprisingly good especially the combination of cauliflower and broccoli.

The Spring Singapura’s Cereal Prawn is a must-have in your every visit. It will be a treat for both kids and adults. Four big prawns with sweet cereals to add a flavorful experience. If you love nibbling on your fingers, this will be ideal to keep you wanting for more. Very good with rice.

These tools are indicative of the coming of great dishes! The Crabs!!!

and so they are here! Brought out by the chef himself. We're all drooling with excitement!

Even the fashionista sisters are all ready to partake of a delightful crab feast!

The Black Pepper Crab and Chili Crab are said to be the specialty of Spring Singapura. There are very few restaurants in the Metro that serves great crabs and thank goodness Spring Singapura is here to give foodies more choice....If they improve their marketing and promotions, they might as well get a bigger percentage of the crab-eating population of the Metro.

The Chili Crab was far netter tasting thean the Black Pepper Crab and more appealing to the looks.

Thank you Spring Singapura for a sumptuous dining experience.

Spring Singapura is located at AG-9 Metrowalk Complex, Meralco Avenue, Ortigas Center Pasig City.
