Sheaffer Centennial Celebration Hosted by National Book Store

Wazzup Pilipinas!

To celebrate the Centenary of Sheaffer, a global leader in the field of fine writing instruments, museum Sheaffer pieces traveled across continents and displayed at one-night-only events in host countries for collectors and guests to see. In Manila, the 100 Years of Sheaffer event is hosted by National Book Store on May 29 at the Master’s Gallery of the Yuchengco Museum.

“We are proud that National Book Store was chosen to host the 100 Years of Sheaffer event in Manila,” said Trina Alindogan, National Book Store Regional Manager. “Just like Sheaffer, National Book Store is a brand rich in history, ingrained in the culture of its people and is known for excellent products and uncompromising service. It makes perfect sense that National Book Store and Sheaffer partner together to bring this global event here.”

The event highlights an informative trip down to Sheaffer’s history via a ‘curated’ tour of the brand’s prominent pen exhibit, which displays some of its most iconic creations, as well as its current bestsellers, and a gallery of vintage posters and TV advertisements.

Notable personalities such as author and media personality RJ Ledesma, model and graphic designer Isabel Gatuslao and Palanca Award-winning author Angelo “Sarge” Lacuesta share their stories and experiences as loyal Sheaffer users.

Ledesma admits that it was the Ferrari Collection that caught his attention. “Aside from the enjoyable writing experience they bring, the pens are very sexy and attractive. I might not be able to own a Ferrari car but I can sure look and feel like a million bucks when I hold a Sheaffer Ferrari in my hands.”

Gatuslao confesses that her love affair with Sheaffer started quite recently when she studied calligraphy. “As a graphic designer, calligraphy has always been something that fascinated me. I’ve always wanted to learn the art but finding the right tools can be a problem. Thankfully, somebody referred me to Sheaffer’s Calligraphy Collection and I can truly say that it changed my life. From the grip of the pen, the smoothness of the nib and the flow of the vibrant colored ink, Sheaffer is truly an ideal partner for calligraphy students such as myself.”

Lacuesta reveals that Sheaffer holds a special place in his heart. “When I graduated from college the gift given to me by my best friend’s dad was a Sheaffer. I kept it as a token of our friendship and I still have the pen up to this day.” Lacuesta also added that Sheaffer is a very dependable brand and he uses it in all aspects of his work, be it as a writer, editor or businessman.

As a student, the article is interesting because pens are actually important in writing. I find it silly to read unfamiliar names but I think it might be useful for people who are really interested in Sheaffer pens. Actually, I never bought such kind of pen but I was convinced that it can make a calligraphists' work easier. I noticed that the article is made by a professional because it is way better sentence construction than what I usually read. The paragraph organization is alike from articles I read in newspapers. The main topics are placed in the beginning then other information are added on the next paragraphs. To sum up all what I had just typed, I find this article somehow useful but useless as well.
