Mr. Ube Rice and Noodle House : It's Tikoy Time and More

Wazzup Pilipinas !

So who doesn't now Mr. Ube - Jerry Chua, the guy I often see promoting his well-loved "hopia" and "tikoy"  business or more like a republic - Eng Bee Tin - Yes! Republic because that's how I think of it being so big a name, and being so popular.

Lately, his son is now hugging the limelight during presscons and interviews but still he remains the identity behind Eng Bee Tin.

Whenever there's a choice, I would always choose Eng Bee Tin brand for my "hopia" and "tikoy" products, and its not only during a Chinese New Year season. It's every time I visit the grocery or supermarket.
Eng Bee Tin is synonymous to quality "hopia" and "tikoy".

Now, there's a new restaurant in Binondo that's already making a name for itself - Mr. Ube Rice and Noodle House.

During a bloggers' event, Mr. Ube himself graced the occasion - Yes! we are so very lucky to finally meet him in person....and he looks damn real good in real life....and very approachable.

What I noticed from the event was that I was the only guy among the many female bloggers. Hehehe

Was this a mommy bloggers affair, but I did get an invitation from the organizer...Oh, well...being the only thorn among the roses gave me a sense of pride.

Mr. Jerry Chua learned about the Meet and Greet Derek Ramsay Dunkin Donuts event we just came from - the reason why a handful of us were late and that we had to take a taxi all the way from Pasig to Binondo, Manila - and he jokingly said "Mas guwapo ako kay Derek"

To which I immediately replied "Kaya nga iniwan na namin po siya doon eh" Hehehe

and how grateful we are we decided to attend the Mr. Ube Rice and Noodle event - Mr. Jerry gave us some take-home treats composed of several noodles, hopia, moshi and tikoys - WOW!

Let's take a look at the great food that were served to us....I must say I enjoyed every dish!...and I believe everyone else in the room appreciated the generosity...and humility... that was shown and shared to us.

I loved the humble beginning of Mr. Jerry Chua. Its an inspiration to learn about his origins and his struggles during his youth and the days he was just beginning his business.

Thanks Mr. Ube, for the delightful...and filling... afternoon event with you.....

 But wait, there's more...

He also took us to his lair...hehehe...or command center, located at a nearby building, where he showed us the TXTFire community firefighter volunteer organization he organized.

With cameras located at different places of the community, they are able to assist even the local government in reporting fire incidents and preventing the worsening of the situation.

It's a very honorable community project deserving praise from everyone.

This deserves another thumbs up from yours truly.

We need more kind-hearted and generous people like Mr. Ube in our community who is more than willing to lend a helping hand to his fellowmen. He has become an important member of the community.
