Dimsum Break Opens at SM North EDSA

Ribbon cutting ceremonies at Dimsum Break

If you're one of the "suki" of the best dim sum in Cebu, then you're in for a big surprise as Cebu's popular dim sum house has now opened its very first branch in Manila as well.

Dimsum Break, the fastest growing brand of Harbour City Dimsum House Co., Inc. (HCDHCI) based in Cebu, is now in Metro Manila. This new venture is the latest addition to HCDHCI’s growing chain of restaurants.

“This is our first fast food chain in Luzon, but including Visayas region, it is already our 16th branch. We are optimistic that this number will continue to increase. Our confidence is based on the significant investment and development we have put in the past five years to support our growing branch network,” shares HCDHCI Marketing Manager Steven Kokseng.

To date, HCDHCI has a total of 16 branches (11 Dimsum Break branches, three Harbour City branches and one Ding Qua Qua branch) strategically located all over Metropolitan Cebu, and the most recent is the newly opened Dimsum Break located at the 3F Annex of SM North Edsa, Quezon City.

It was truly a surprise treat as these were the best dim sum I've tasted, and believe me when I say, I've had the chance to taste all of them already. Well, those restaurants that I know of. If ever there's a contender who would claim they have the better dim sum, just please let me know so my blogger friends and I can taste them for ourselves.

You just gotta love the very artistic and creative interiors of the branch

The clever and ingenious lighting of the North EDSA branch would surely be a topic for all customers to talk about while dining at Dimsum Break

Dim sum in a dash—the interactive style

Transcending the traditional boundaries of Chinese-themed restaurants, Dimsum Break offers a modern take on the quintessential teahouse, attuned with today’s urbanized and fast-paced lifestyles. Ingenuity and innovation gave way to another novel means of serving dim sum, the interactive style.

“For working professionals who are always on-the-go, this is the best alternative because they get their dim sum in a dash. Our store features a self-service and interactive service setup where our customers lineup and personally reach for the freshly cooked food and beverage choices from the counter,” says Kokseng.

The newest store setup of Dimsum Break exudes a warm, light, and cozy atmosphere to maintain customer involvement through its signature interactive setup at the counter. Modernized equipment and display areas ensure that the freshly cooked food is within easy reach of the customer without sacrificing food quality and safety.

The dazzling changing light effects during the bloggers and media launch was truly eye-catching for the guests and even the passersby.

Affordable and a wide dim sum selection

Compared to the existing and more popular Chinese restaurants and fast food chains in Manila, Dimsum Break has the widest selection of dim sum. On the counter is a display of over 20 steamed and fried dim sum dishes ready for customers’ picking.

The brand Dimsum Break has become synonymous with authentic, quality dim sum cuisine, served from the heart at pocket-friendly rates. A complete package meal would cost a customer only P133—an order of dim sum at P65 plus the rice pot at P68.

Several choices of fried and steamed dim sum plus a whole lot of other favorites

Anything with bacon is surely good - just one of my favorites at Dimsum Break

The bestseller of Dimsum Break : Steamed Fried Rice

Dimsum Break’s simplified menu lineup carries only the best-selling menu items for each dim sum category. Some of the best selling dishes under fried dim sum are the succulent crab pincer, stuffed shrimps, and crispy spring rolls. For steamed dim sum, the shaomai varieties, especially the chunky pork and shrimp are the bestsellers.

Authentic dim sum dining

While differing in service type and target market, the 16-year old Dimsum Break continues to share a common thing with other two brands, Ding Qua Qua Dimsum House and Harbour City Dimsum House, in Cebu—the seasoned fried rice. The Steamed Fried Rice is an original creation of the late Mr. Uytengsu and it is the perfect anchor to enjoy other dim sum dishes. Any meal is incomplete without HCDHCI’s signature sauces such as the sweet and sour sauce, chili sauce, and ginger sauce to harmonize the different flavors.

You have to try either the coconut cream or mango custard for dessert

They also have this box for your take-out orders. Deliveries will hopefully be available soon

Ready for the great dim sum challenge

“We prepare ourselves for the exciting future ahead as we envision Dimsum Break to be the fast food dim sum in the City,” says Kokseng.

HCDHCI has embarked on a number of efforts to strengthen its core competencies. Significant investments have been made to expand its commissary’s production capacity and storage. Food safety and sanitation standards were also elevated to ensure the highest food quality. The latest state-of-the-art equipment is acquired for these purposes. In addition, computer hardware and software systems are also used to make processes efficient and more accurate, which support the supply chain processes and other back-office tasks.

With over 500 employees, the organizational growth is supported by various human resources (HR) programs. Other support groups have been strengthened as well to meet the demands of a growing and dynamic company.

HCDHCI has conquered its home market and looks beyond Cebu’s shores for the next great challenge

  2. I've been hearing so many great reviews about this resto kahit nung nasa Cebu pa lang siya that's why I got very interested to trying this one. From that time that I heard their of the name and the food they serve, ayy nako as in I've been really craving for the dishes. Gusto ko pa nga dayuhin ang Cebu para lang ma-try although hindi practical kasi wala naman akong extra money.

Pero now that they opened already at SM North Edsa which is relatively near our place. I would not dare miss the opportunity to trying this delectable dishes.

Actually, when I first entered the store my eyes and heart just melted kasi I see all those yummy dimsum dishes on display. I literally wanted to eat all that I see. :) Pero since limited ang budget, I've only got to try the Original Steamed Rice (rice bowl meal) and truly I wasn't disappointed because it was really super-y duper-y good. :)

I actually want to win not just for myself because I also want to treat my family and friends and urge them to try Dimsum Break because it's really good. I want to share them the good news that for an affordable price you get the value of your money by eating real and yummy dimsum dishes. Kumuha na nga ako ng flyers nila and gave them all to my family.

It would be really great if I get to treat them for free! Plus, I would be able to share this to more or less 13 people since the rice bowls only cost 68pesos, a 1000-peso GC has a long way to go.
